Idk, y'all. I love this game, even if I'm doing the same thing over and over. It's everything I loved about Minecraft and Spore plus space and a little Elite Dangerous. It ain't perfect, but I'm not complaining.

Here's to OT2, with Update 2 hopefully not long away, with base building and owning freighters and anything else that comes our way.

Returning to my starter system and getting the exosuit upgrade from the atlaspass door in that first station felt pretty cool. It was just waiting there the whole time. :p

I'm 100%ing the fauna in the system now, but my first two tries were an extremely cold and fairly hot planet, both quite small, with zero animal life. I named them Wintermoon and Summermoon. The former had forests of the sort I hadn't seen yet
Really enjoying this mod to remove the vignetting and CA: http://nomansskymods.com/mods/chromatic-aberration-vignetting-scan-lines-removal/

Ah, I think the largest I've seen is 32. Do larger ships get more common the further you get into center?
Hell nawww and I wish I knew this earlier on. The trick is to keep finding crashed ships because crashed ships either give you one inventory slot over or under. If you find one with one inventory slot over your current then you switch ships and repeat the same process till you've maxed out your ship.

You do this via those beacons that search for 4 things on planets. Feed it bypass chip and search for transmission tower. Go to transmission tower and solve math puzzle for location to crashed ship. Rinse and repeat.

Here's a random video explaining this: https://youtu.be/-Xrf482Qst8

Last mod post, if you guys thought the game looked blurry or muddy or "is not rendering at the right resolution", give this mod that removes DoF a shot. Makes things way clearer for me at 1440p (aka it looks how it should now), no downscaling or upscaling mod needed. Heck it technically improves the performance since it's removing post-processing.

Any mod that removes CA?

I had an issue yesterday trying to pin a blueprint. I can see that the triangle option changes from pin to unpin, but the selected item never highlights with the red border anymore and the ingredients don't get added to my HUD, just the message telling me how to unpin it.

Anybody else experience this? Does it fix itself?

Wait, you can pin blueprint ingredients to the HUD? How do you do that?

Communication is by and large the biggest failing here. You're right, things change. But that's where having someone who is in charge of messaging is so important. Sean pulling double duty on coding and PR is what largely led to the disconnect between what was originally promised/hinted at, and what they eventually delivered. Inexperience, naivety and possibly a bit of hubris seem to underline a lot of the messaging decisions from Hello Games.

I don't really disagree. I think in some ways having Sean be the face of it was good because you could really see his passion for the project. I really think that in the end, that little team took on a huge undertaking that when mixed with the hype, was impossible to deliver fully on.

That being said, I now often find myself sitting at work thinking about exploring the galaxy so they did something right (for me, at least).

How do I feed animals? I need some of that element they poop.
Run up to them and have the element they like/eat. Press and hold square and you should see a smiley face over the creatures head after fed. Keep around the creature and take it for short walks. Don't overfeed please, animal abuse is not cool.

Eventually, it'll defecate you a gift and you'll see a green exclamation mark on it. Go collect said poop gift. Profit.

regarding the end of the Atlas path quest:
text at the end went away too quickly, I couldn't read the whole thing. what did it say, something about a new galaxy?

I'm on the same planet as someone else. I can't see them, but they are uploading discoveries and so am I. Together we're finding everything.

How fucking cool.

Edit: Never thought this would happen - especially not so early (on my 10th planet)

Yeah! I had that happen to me a couple of nights ago. I sent the other person a message, but they didn't respond until yesterday. By that time, I was pretty far away.

Is this the first game ever that has a player rummaging through poopy?

Ooo we almost at OT2. If Legacy aint back who is going to take care of it?

37 hours in, just got my Atlas Pass V1 and a
blackhole shortcut.

The music is beyond incredible, playing this with headphones changes everything.

Transmission Tower math fail...

5040 - 720 - 120 - 24 - x

The correct answer is 7 yet my options only include 8, 6, or 12. Nice.

Edit: Nope, my math fail, I've done too many of these today. The answer is 6. I was thinking 5040 / 720 instead of starting at the beginning.

Lego Jurassic World has characters like Ellie Satler diving into poo, wriggling around and popping out with clues to what a dino likes to eat and other goodies haha.

This game might be repetitive but it's just so damn terapeutic to travel the galaxy alone. I've been doing the same things for about 30 hours now and I can't stop hahah.

So I just got to my 3rd system. It is apparently inhabited by a race other than the Gek. Now I have to relearn the language? Was all the Gek language learning that I did pointless? Does this keep happening? If so, I feel like I wasted a fuck ton of time learning words to a language that I will never see again.

It's 6, though.

Ninja'd.

Right? It's gonna be hard going back to playing stressful stuff after work. Not that I intend to stop playing NMS anytime soon.

Just noticed something really cool. If you dig a tunnel with the Plasma Grenade and save the game and quit and reload the game will spawn stuff in the tunnel. I just loaded up and found a tunnel a dug full of cave flora.

You did not. You will keep running into the same
3 races
and the more words you know of their language, the better you can understand them throughout the entire game. :)

Only thing I really dislike in this game apart from the bad performance on my system is the inventory / crafting system. You got so little inventory that it feels like a burden to craft and usually i just say fuck it and sell everything because i simply cant be bothered to check what i need, plan ahead and play the inventory mini game. Is there a mod that gives you unlimited inventory or something?

If you play on PC then this answer will always be yes. If on PS4, go find escape pods and max out suite inventory asap(48 slots). It's the first thing you should prioritize.

I'm not sure what gave you the idea the end of the Atlus path is an ending.
You should be able to turn in the 10 Atlus stones if you still have them all by warping to one more Atlus station. The game just keeps going after that though and you can do whatever you want.

I learned years ago not to get too invested in an unreleased game. These days I'll read just enough to get the gist of the game; watch a released video or two, check out a preview article when it's close to release, taking everything with a large grain of salt. I wasn't even sure I was going to buy NMS so I certainly wasn't hanging on every word the developers put out there. So I'm enjoying the game I have instead of whining about the game I wish it was and poring over Hello Games' prior statements looking for inconsistencies. Who the hell has time for that?
Seriously. I'm in the same boat. Love this game. Searching for a new Earth, exploring strange new worlds hoping to find some giant ass weird creatures, upgrading my little pirate ship to take on cargo freighters. I wasn't following any marketing and just decided to check it out the day before release.

Developers gotta hustle to get the word out but the people are never satisfied with anything rough around the edges. I used to follow Bungie closely and I recall pretty much every game they ever released went through some batshit insane development cycle. Most trailers / E3 demos for the Halo games were thrown together at the last minute, entirely scripted with barely anything working. You know things will change before release but you gotta paint some kind of picture for the public. It's tough.
