The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Mod Discussion and News [Creation Kit released]

I would probably keep ugrids at 5 and use DynDoLOD instead. Increasing the ugrids is detrimental to both performance and gameplay (lots of world events will trigger earlier than intended, since they trigger specifically from the ugrid threshold.

Wait...this isn't right.

Dyndolod is a goal next time I install from scratch, probably on a new PC. Still should play my current install more though…

Never have finished the main quest.

Wondering if anyone can give me some insight as to what is going on with my LOD. I have tried all the ini tweaks to fix it and I don't have any LOD Mods that I know of, mainly textures. As you can see in the pictures, there is a clear break in the LOD for the terrain making it very jarring. I can even catch up to it before it loads the LOD if I ride my horse fast enough.

I have Skyrim installed on an SSD so I don't think its a loading issue.

Looks like a combination of icreased amount of grass and low draw distance of grass.

I've never participated in this thread much, despite Skyrim being my most played game.

I am thinking of maybe doing one last ultimate run before I put the game down and move on to Fallout 4. I want to hold out for Awake though.

So I am asking for suggestions on what to add to my mod list.

This is my current mod list. Everything is properly sorted with LOOT with additional tweaks also Level Lists are organized with a BASHED Patch and Reproccer Patches are properly implemented. My game is stable as with this current configuration.

If anyone has any must have recommendations I will definitely check them out and see how it fleshes out the rest of my Skyrim experience. I'd rather not replace my existing list and add to it. Unless for extremely good reason and there is an alternative on my list that is superior. I am open to opinions and suggestions.

I also need to mind my performance on my current system so extreme performance / memory effecting mods might not be viable.
i5 3570k, 8GB DDR3, Radeon HD7950 3GB GDDR5, Windows 10

Does anyone else NEED to use Immersive Creatures? Like I love all the mods in my load order, but I couldnt play without the variety it brings to the game.

Passed the threshold for 1000 new sounds last wednesday. That brings me up to around 3200 sounds in total. I released a beta of 2.0 if anyone wants to try it out

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54387/

Right now I'm just fine-tuning the destruction sounds further, and I'm giving two-handed mace and axe sounds another go as I wasn't entirely satisfied with them.

I was thinking that i'd give Skyrim yet another try, now that Ordinator seems to have covered pretty much all my issues with the perk system without extraneous stuff. (Last time was a year ago, i gave up in a 10 hours or so because i got so annoyed with the flawed skill and perk system.)
So, i download only some essential mods...
Half an hour later, my mod folder has about 50 files taking about 800MB space. And i'm not done.
Shit.

Really, most are bug fixes or what i regard as fixes (like "Run For Your Lives") in addition to USLEEP.
I am unlikely to install everything i download though, i will either consider or test some mods before settling on the final selection.

Still need some "survival" type mods, or something like that. I'll know them when i see them.

Also need to consider what i'll want for a mage-playthrough, something that works nicely with Ordinator.

Ah, now i know what i want/need: An economy adjuster. Preferably a simple one that is hardcore (ie money is really, really valuable).
Any recommendations?

ISC 2.0 is out! Tell your friends! Tell your dog! Head to Whiterun and tell the Jarl at once!

This is a monumental update, and totaling at 3,452 sounds all in all, makes it the biggest audio mod for Skyrim. Possibly even for any game? A ton of attention has gone into things that might seem inconsequential on their own, but together they should all add up into what amounts to a transformative experience.

Full changelog:

IMMERSIVE SOUNDS COMPENDIUM 2.0 CHANGELOG

-Tons of new additions. Well over 1000 new sounds!

-General optimizations to some of the most common time-sensitive sounds to increase responsiveness, especially under heavy script load. This increases the overall memory load slightly, but the amount should be negligible.

-Blocking and parrying sounds for both shields and weapons have been extensively revised, and will now react appropriately to each specific weapon type. So a light shield blocking a two-handed sword, or a two-handed axe, or a one-handed mace parrying a one-handed sword, etc etc etc, will all yield separate sounds corresponding to the specific weapons/shields clashing. In vanilla Skyrim there is only one set of generic blocking sounds for shields and weapons. In previous versions of IS this was split up into generic heavy and light hit categories. So this update extends the system to its logical conclusion to maximize feedback and make combat feel more reactive.

-There are now also unique shield bashing sounds specifically against living and undead creatures respectively, so shield bashing NPCs will sound different from bashing inanimate objects.

-Two-handed swords, axes and maces now all have their own unique swing soundsets.

-Two-handed axe impacts tweaked. Less ringing/resonance from blade, and more pronounced differences between the sound variations.

-Big overhaul of the physics soundsets. For ragdoll corpses small, medium & large bodies, and even scattered skeleton bones now have revised soundsets and will sound different as they collide with a variety of ground surface materials. The same principle now also applies to dropped weapons and shields.

-Destruction spell sounds have been extensively reworked. Different tiers of spells from the different elements now also have different characteristics and power magnitudes reflected in their sounds. New dynamic impact sound systems have also been introduced to the spell projectiles, resulting in things like sizzling flesh for fire spells on creatures, or an audible clang from the concussive force when colliding with metal. There are also new distance/echo layers in stereo for some of the bigger/louder spell impacts. All in all, the soundscape for magic combat should be quite different and more varied now.

-Higher skill spells now also have their own charging sounds to further differentiate themselves from the lesser magnitude spells.

-A compatibility patch for Deadly Spell Impacts has been added, since spell impact data changes overlap with that mod.

-A new set of heavy armor footstep sounds has been created. It sounds more subtly and tight fitting. If you prefer the old sounds, fret not! They are still available as an alternate install option.

-A new optional overhaul for draugr voices/sounds has been added.

-New install option for less mouthbreathing wolf movement.

-New install option for less annoying Storm Atronach idle sound loop.

-Several creatures and humanoid monsters in the game now have revised, dynamic footstep soundsets which react to different surfaces, as opposed to just having 1 universal set.

-Likewise, horses now have their own fully featured dynamic hoof soundset, categorized into different trot and gallop sets, as well as front and back hoof sub-categories, for all kinds of surfaces like stone, grass, wood, snow, sand, etc... and even wading through water.

-Horses have also had their new hoof soundsets relegated to a new audio category which you can adjust the volume for in the options.

-Fixed an issue with skeleton footsteps where the right foot would play the left foot sounds on dirt.

-Stone footsteps have been overhauled to one with less debris noise.

-Wood walking footsteps overhauled.

-Unique weapons like bound swords and forsworn swords now also have unique appropriate sounds to further differentiate them from their parent weapon types.

-Some door sounds have had their bass reduced which should result in less distortion when mixed with environment reverb.

-New unique UI sounds for equipping spells in the menus.

-Added an option to mute the strange ambient sound playing while the player is ragdolled.

-USLEEP changes have been integrated into any overlapping records.

-Updated Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade compatibility patch. It now adds the appropriate sounds to the many new items added by the newer version.

-Updated Perkus Maximus patch.

-Updated Requiem patch.

-Updated Empowered Magic patch.

-Updated Balanced Magic patch.

-Added patch for Morrowloot Ultimate.

Just upgraded my computer to a 980ti and I've held off playing Skyrim for years so I could get the most out of graphics mods and such. I don't want tons of mods just the very best enhancements for as gorgeous as I can possibly make it look with the least amount of hassle. Can a vet of Skyrim and its mods help me in this thread or just private message me? Not sure where to get started and all that and kind of a newb on it all.

Really really appreciate it!

Hey guys I've decided to finally get a new computer since the new Nvidia-cards finally dropped. I've got a question with a GTX 1070 vs 1080 when it comes to modding Skyrim (and future FO4). Since ive been sitting on a GTX 670 well its been hard to keep get the game to run good when you start to stack up mods and an ENB on top of that? Welcome to the 5fps club. I've been thinking of getting a GTX 1070 since I play only in 1080p and I think that getting a GTX 1080 is a bit overkill since my goal is stable 60 fps, and the price jump from the 1070 to 1080 is pretty steep.

Will I be able to play a heavy modded Skyrim and a ENB with a solid 60 fps on a 1070? Or will a 1080 be a better choice? Ofc will the 1080 be stronger, but will a 1070 be enough? Don't want to get a 1070 and then afterwards realize that I will have to struggle for a descent 60fps. Or the other way around that a GTX 1080 was overkill and I could have spent that price difference on something else.

Thanks!

Motion blur guys!

Curious, though based on the comments it seems a bit unstable for the moment.

If I'm reading this correctly, one of the major things that has been causing issues with script heavy mod loads has been discovered: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3924850-corrupt-saves-strcount-0xffff-ctd-on-load/

Has there been any more on this?

I've been replaying this for about a week now. It's been mentioned in this thread before, but I want to reiterate that everybody should give Helgen Reborn a shot. It's a lengthy quest that has a tangible impact and is very high quality overall.

So there are many mods that have two versions you can download "with ENB" and "without ENB"

im following this list http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76373/?

that leaves downloading ENB at the end soo, do I download the Non ENB version of mods since at time of download there is no ENB or download the ENB version that might possibly be broken and crash the game until I finish the list and FINALLY download the ENB?

sorry if this is a stupid or convoluted question thats been answered before

Without, ENB is optional and will not crash the game.

I've been trying to heavily mod my game's textures, but is there much to do about shadows? Are there any good mods that make them less cruddy? As opposed to greatly increasing shadow resolution (and killing performance), might it be a better compromise to make softer / fuzzier shadows in the ini?

Are ENBs worth it? They always seemed too annoying to install properly and I've only ever got one working, I think. It just seemed like they make thinks darker, more saturated, or more blurry.

ENB integrates itself deeply into the game engine and overhauls/adds a ton of graphical features in conjunction with significantly boosting base performance. Everything is tweakable on top of that, which is why there are so many different user presets out there with a variety of aesthetic goals.

Most texture mods are designed to work with enb, there are so many types of enb out there, just find one that's most natural to you.

Improving performance?! I've always ignored them because I always heard about how demanding they are. Skyrim drops to the 40s in certain areas already for me (4690k and 970) and I never wanted to make that worse.

I am eagerly awaiting updates to SKGE though, I enjoy what that brings without a noticeable performance hit. Motion blur helps to mask any drops, too.

It has a feature called ENBoost which is where the bulk of the performance enhancements come from. You can run that independently from any graphical enhancements, which is why it's recommended even if you don't want to use graphical ENB presets.

I just got a 950 and wanted to try some Skyrim visual mods as I think the vanilla game is lacking a bit. I'm interested in playing at 60 fps too @ 1080p. Can play on Ultra at 60 and was hoping to add some graphical improvements.

My brother has a 980 ti and would really like to try and push Skyrim to the extreme, but it seems when you look for the best visuals you can do with Skyrim no one lists the mods and enbs they used. Suggestions GAF?

Have an issue.... I reinstalled skyrim from long ago and when i loaded up my save, my character has no weapons and armor. It must be from mods i no longer have? what can i do? I am lvl 29 and cant go out of town with nothing

Pancakes

hot, steaming, as melted butter slips into the cracks, drizzled with sticky sweet syrup OH GOD
Pretty happy with my modded run so far about 40 hours in and have only had like 2 crashes that were unexpected or out of nowhere. But I think I resolved the issue that was causing and have been stable for a good while.

Just start a new game, even if you find all the old mods you had chances are there will be bugs and crashes. Skyrim does not support removing mods mid playthrough.

not starting over...

I've restarted Skyrim so many times. After a certain point, it's easier just to have a trainer + a box with all smithing materials, so I can quickly gather everything that my last character had.

anyone know why my campfires all look like this? i dont even know where to begin to figure out what mod might be causing the missing textures
