None of the characters are Ethan from what I can tell.

You can see what I assume is Ethan's shirt in several brief glimpses of released media. You can see a character wearing it in the initial release trailer and shots released officially by Capcom. Ethan seems to be wearing a striped dress shirt with pulled-back arm sleeves:

Which doesn't match anyone we've seen so far in those shots. Now it's not 100% that's Ethan, but it's definitely a player character at the very least.

I feel like part of hiding Ethan's face is probably due to him being family in some way to another character. So if we saw his face We'd end up knowing the secret.

I half expect that every mirror and such is going to be broken in this gane. So that the only way you end up seeing his face is at the end, where it'll be made obvious.

That's why I said essentially. We had that big gap after RE6 and Rev 1, 2, & CVX while not numbered are part of the main story. I mean I suppose everything is outside gaidn and orc. But those titles more so.

So I think it isn't too unfair to be more expecting of Rev 2 at the time when there had been no new RE for like 2 years and some more

Well, I think CV is a different story. It's always been my understanding that it was intended to be numbered, but Sony demanded that they get a numbered title instead of the spinoff title they had in Nemesis, so that became RE3, and they obviously couldn't have two RE3s, and I guess they didn't want to release a RE4 directly after 3, so CV lost it's number even though it's clearly a true sequel to 2. That's always been my understanding, anyway.

Neither of the Revelation titles have what I would call an essential story. They both just sort of fill in gaps to what certain characters are doing between games, but nothing really happens in any those to move the overall canon forward in anyway. The only exception to that really would be Alex in Rev 2 if they chose to set her up as the new 'big bad' of the series, but I am kind of wagering they'll finish that story in another Revelations or whatever styled spin-off we'll have in that vein. Hopefully, anyway, and not just something that gets explain in a file later on.

Can we get Raid Mode and The Mercenaries in the next game? Seriously, I've just been fucking about in Revelations 2's Raid Mode and haven't even started the second episode. Raid Mode alone was worth the price of admission. The two packaged together would make for one hell of an experience.

Raid and Mercs in the same game but seperate seems like a no brainer for a standalone. Have missions that are raid to level up your characters and such while a separate mercs mode on the maps to just get high scores.

Seriously, Capcom should repackage areas from RE 4 - 6/Rev 1 - 2 into a Raid Mode and Mercenaries package with all the protagonists (Leon, Jill, Sherry, Sheva, Chris, Piers, Ada, Helena, Barry, Moira, and so on) and just say "Digital download, $30". I would buy THE SHIT out of that game.

They said there is one more RE game that fans have been waiting for.
I feel like either Mercs/Raid Standalone or Outbreak HD would fit into that well. Since we already have RE2make coming and that'll bring the other remakes with it if it does well.
Though I want to lean more on Mercs/Raid since as you said it would be a cheaper endeavor while offering something for the action fans. Since I don't think a game in that style will happen in awhile, so something like that would be good to buy time with.

Especially since they could just keep adding onto it with DLC that spans all of the games. Would be cool to play as spin off characters, and see spin off stages in the game.
Would be an interesting way to celebrate the entire series/

Assuming they go all out on a mercs game (every map, character, enemy type, etc with re6 combat). I think you can justify a full price tag.

Mercs 3D was full price 3DS game.

I though it was worth it, played it for something like 80 hours, despite already playing RE4/5 Mercs for hundreds of hours.

Would buy the shit out of a full fledged console Mercs game, espcially with new console and not skimping on the characters..

Per News Bot, who will appear and explain it better than I could:

Neither Nemesis/Last Escape nor CV was supposed to be RE3 - they were both intended to be spinoffs. RE4 started life as a project that was going to be RE3. That's how fuckin' long that game took to get made.

RE3 was made by core Capcom RE team staff and CV was farmed out to an external company with a bigger budget, IIRC.

"Ha, who's the master of unlocking now!"

You know, after readjusting my expectations, I'm having fun with the game for what it is: a low budget romp with cheesy dialogue, fun characters, adequate gameplay, and a really rocking extra mode. I just hope Capcom gives Revelations 3 a more of a budget.

It'll be weird if they do a revelations 3 and make it action focused. Considering the whole reason revelations started was to offer a more horror style compared to the current mainline. So another 180 would be odd. Wouldn't put it past capcom though .

The biggest issue I have right now with Rev 2 are the large guys with the spikes. The only reason they are there is to waste your ammo (one wasted seven shotgun shells). But it doesn't create tension because this isn't a difficult game, the AI isn't particularly good, most other enemies go down in a single headshot or two with a roundhouse finisher, and you checkpoint every five flipping minutes. They're just bullet sponges to give a cheap sense of difficulty. I think I'm finding it particularly annoying because they are starting to use two and three of them at a time or one room after the other.

Just a tip: upgrade Moira's crowbar attack and buy the Unholstered skill. That way you can play as Moira for the most part (her crowbar is pretty powerful and she can handle most normal enemies or Normal difficulty) while AI-controlled Claire will be able to use her weapons without wasting any ammo (they will deal less damage, but a shotgun blast is a shotgun blast nonetheless).

I was so tempted once to buy a 3DS just for that game. Now reading your post... hmm it seems really neat for some RE action on the fly. Hmm. It's also only 12€

It's a bit limited, but good enough for what it is. Maybe the weirdest/best unexpected thing about Mercs 3D is that they actually did a fully Mercenaries-styled soundtrack for it, it includes RE4's and RE5's Mercenaries songs, but also includes something like 20+ original songs.

Huh, there's no complete playlist of them... Well, know all of RE4's Mercenaries themes and RE5's Mercenaries themes are in the game. Strangely some of them are missing off of YouTube, but you can hear samples of the whole soundtrack/purchase it here: http://www.sumthing.com/p/resident-evil-the-mercenaries-3d/

Hmm, interesting. That doesn't surprise me at all at RE3. It's got side game written all over it, story-wise. CV feels like a direct sequel and has significant additions to the overall story and canon.

That sounds good. I will borrow a 3DS and see if I like it.

Feels like I missed out on something fun.

Haven't even played Namco X Capcom yet despite a fan translation existing for years.

Can someone fill me in on these games? What are they? I seem to see pics that pop up of RE characters and Tekken ones alike. Are they RPG's?

They're crossover RPGs of Bamco, Capcom, and Sega Characters. With 2 adding characters from intelligent systems and monolith soft.

They're SRPG but pretty easy. I've beaten both and am not really good in that genre.

Seasoned OT posters, when should I post the re4 ot? Have some errands this morning but it's pretty close to done.

It sucks that RE characters are so bland... the jill sandwich and carlos' "chicks love my accent" are corny af but also help define their personalities

Yeah, it helps explain why RE3 doesn't move the story forward tons and why CV is really poorly designed.

Off-screen RE7 photos from CEDEC:

Why is everything so blurry? The DoF is cranked way too high for my liking as well.

Just got the remake platinum last night so I can't wait to dive back into RE4.

I got pushed off the side twice by Lisa in my no save run lmao. I've never had that happen before.

LMAO, I've been crushed by rolling boulders twice. Both on no-save attemps

LOL. Exactly the same thing happened to me when I tried to go for that trophy. It also was the first time I died like that (GC version playthroughs included) That felt bad. I didn't try again though, my attempt at the platinum ended right there.

BTW, do you guys think we'll go back to save rooms, magic item boxes, typewriters, limited ink ribbons, etc, in RE7? Personally, I hope so. I want the game to feel as close as possible to classic RE. The change to first person and the Outlast sections will make that difficult, of course, but they could still make it similar enough I think (and hopefully, the Outlast sections will be limited to optional VHS tapes)

Thanks to Mr Zombie, I'm overflowing with ammo again!

I'm actually quite liking Rev 2 now. It's clearly low budget and there are points where that's comically obvious, but it gets enough right that I'm still having a good time.

What's Claire's deal with Niel, though? She's like "Niel needs me" and even Moira's weirded out and like "how about that poor little girl we lost that is now probably alone and afraid?"

Supposedly Claire isn't so intense about Neil in the Japanese version, but I think Thirsty Claire is cool.

Gotta love Jills mail to Barry in Rev 2.

Hey Barry,

How's it going? I hope you're up to your usual wise-cracking self.

I'm back from Africa. I heard from Chris that after my fight with Wesker, the BSAA listed me officially as KIA, and that you took the news pretty hard.

I'm sorry to have caused you such grief. I'm alive and none the worse for wear! Although I do look a bit different now. Well, you'll see.

So how are Kathy and the girls doing? Have you managed to patch things up with Moira yet? Girls in their teens can be a nightmare to deal with. I know because I used to be one. You just have to be patient and understanding. And sometimes you just have to give them their space. I know you want to protect her, but you have to be sure you don't become overbearing.

But hey, that's just my two cents. I can already hear you saying, "Yeah yeah, I'm the one with the kids." I'll leave it at that. But I do hope you've managed to smooth things over. Since you've become a consultant for the BSAA, well, I don't have to explain the job and its dangers to you. So every minute you can spend with those you love is valuable time.

As for me, ever since getting back I've been locked up in this lab as they run tests on me day in and day out. It's every bit as boring as it sounds. Rehab should be starting soon, so that's something to look forward to. At this point I'd take a battlefield full of B.O.W.s over looking at another test tube again.

We should all meet up when I'm back on my feet again. It'll be blast!

Jill

P.S. I heard I didn't even get a funeral. So that means I should be getting one
hell of a welcome back party...right, Barry? ;)

I wonder what happens when the dead person you thought was dead turned out alive? Does the cemetary...awkwardly digs stuff back up, including the tombstone? Is there a blacklist for repeat self-ressurectors?

RE3 was nothing like what we got when it was considered a side game. Might as well say the side game got scrapped and RE3 was made instead.
