The french minister of Education, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, this monday (08/29) said that she will meet Niantic asking them to not put any rare pokemon in the public schools.

The minister evoked securities issues and possibles massives intrusions if one rare pokemon would be discovered in a school.

No bald cap? Lies!
She looks a like a JRPG villain. But that's probably not a bad idea. Safety is probably not as big an issue as simply being distracting as all hell for students.

Makes broad commanding statement that a policy should be put in place.
Clearly has no idea about what they're talking about.

Yup, it's politics.

Reminds me of the time when our language teacher took our Tamagotchis and locked them in his table. We weren't allowed to get them back until after school - they kept beeping desperately from his desk, with no one taking care of their needs.

Grown-Ups will never understand.

On topic, I disagree entirely with this idea. Alakazam has an IQ of 5000, so it actually makes more sense if we replace teachers with Pokemon.

Aside from the funny headline, makes sense.
I don't think we really need to have crowds of strangers around schools either.
It's better than the alternatives.

Pic is perfect.

But it seems crazy that you cannot opt out your location, be it as your home or school. The Minister of Education has to personally meet Niantic for this.

I've actually learned more at the Viridian City school than my real life one. My teachers never taught me how bad getting frozen or poisoned was, Pokemon did.

I agree, i just thought it was funny :D
It's kind of sad though

I don't know, it seems like they hadn't planned for the game to be that popular.
Niantic's issues are the kind of issues you want to have when you make an app.
Also kudos to anyone who took that picture, it takes skills to take such an unflaterring picture of this person.
Kinda like trying to make a flattering picture of Francois Hollande...

Sure, we should focus on Pokémon GO and forget the several problems we have to deal with.

This. Country.

It's good to see that other governments than the United States use bullshit issues to take the pressure off of the real problems.

You're absolutely right after all she summoned a special ministers council and had the press stopped everywhere to be sure that issue is the one everyone deal with right now.
Look at that it's even generating more headline than the whole burkini non story!

Nostalgia. My old school (or maybe just my class) did a similar thing, but to a greater degree. Talk of Pokemon was strictly forbidden, so we had to refer to it as "The P Word".

Yes. "The P Word"

The more things change I guess...

Or you know, she doesn't want a ton of grown-up, strangers trespassing on school properties full of children to score rare pokemon? Not to mention, it also being a huge distraction from what the kids should be doing during school hours. Clearly you don't know what you're talking about.

Yup, it's GAF and politics.
