Halo 5: Forge - First PC Gameplay (Custom Match + 4K Map Flythrough)

Why not just release the full multiplayer on PC? I don't get this.

GAF organized PC customs, lets go baby.

Everyone lamenting the lack of matchmaking in this thread is a GAF member, at the risk of stating the stupidly obvious. There is almost assuredly going to be a community thread as soon as the 8th rolls around, and it's going to be super easy to pop into vanilla game types with like minded GAFfers. While not as blatantly simple as straight up matchmaking, it could be worse. I'm just grateful that MS is doing this at all.

Tempting really want to play some Halo with some mates...but ill have to install WIndows 10 and im not making that jump yet.

Didn't see it. Just seemed a framerate drop from the player.

I feel like I see it kind of, which is a shame but probably an engine quirk that maybe can't be changed that easily? it was one of the very little things that was kind of annoying playing Halo 5 overall at 60 but then seeing something just looking so jerky.

Only in the full version. There will most likely be no ranking up nor REQ packs. Likely not even Spartan customization.
They've mentioned Spartan customization being available from the full game and from their website, or maybe it was the app they're releasing alongside Forge for PC. Nothing from within the PC version of the game though. Would be surprised if the changes made from the other platforms didn't take effect in custom games for Forge PC.

you can change your look of you spartan from halowaypoint and you probably can do it from the pc game but you will need to buy reqs to unlock them(you can open and buy them from halowaypoint)

Don't buy reqs, you'll be paying for stuff you can only use in warzone... Which isn't included in the PC package.

Not sure what they will do regarding customisation?

you can sell the warzone weapons for more for more REQs Halo 5 Mister Chief REQ System Tutorial

Why do you need to buy REQs? You dont get req points from custom games

Thank you, didn't know you could buy them.

you can also buy them from some retail stores like gamestop or amazon

The game wasn't planned for a PC release. It was designed around console parameters.

So the PC port is naturally going to have some console artifacts.

Give me one benefit to tying game logic and renderer together. Using a delta for these things is a no-brainer.

If this is locked to 60fps, I will be disappointed.

Yup while you can't change your Spartan's appearance in Halo 5: Forge, what you do on Waypoint or the main game will carry over to the PC version.

If it's locked to 60 I doubt I will spend much time with it, playing anything at 60 after playing at 100+ for a few years now is just not good enough for me.

A part of me wishes I had just opted for higher resolution instead of 144Hz, because it's just so hard to go back IMO.

Yeah, but can you change your FOV?

There's map filters in halo 5's forge that change the FOV, it's weird that the game has those but no option to change it outside of that.

Either everyone will have to make their maps with the FOV filter applied or we will all suffer the narrow FOV on pc :(

I'm confused by this game... so it lets you edit maps, play maps, and play your maps with other people... but it doesn't also have the full Halo 5 game? Not even the full multiplayer? Why not? Are they releasing that later as a paid option?

Time. Effort. Payoff. I imagine they intend to release Halo 6 at some point in time while still supporting Halo 5 on consoles. Or maybe they just didn't feel like it. Not sure what there is to be confused by. It's free.

Well the reason they're giving us is that it's only for forge people. They went a bit out of their way and made it playable. My guess is that they will definitely release Halo 6 on PC which will probably use the same engine, but they don't care about porting Halo 5 at this point. It would be nice though :(

The first batch of W10 games need to sell well first before MS drops a full version of Halo.

Skins and soldier personnalisation in this "game " ?

Or is basic in terms of personnalisation ?

from what I understand, You can modify you character and guns with skins. Customization choices will be linked to your profile. So you'll have to use Halowaypoint.com or H5 on xb1 to change your appearance.

Also, you'd have to unlock the cool skins buy playing the game (or buying req packs)

I don't think any game exclusive to the windows store will ever sell well on PC, people have been burned too many times and the games being Windows apps doesn't really help a whole lot.

I won't be spending any money in the store until they've proven to me the benefits of their apps over a normal win32 program sold on Steam or any other storefront. And right now, there aren't any so I'll stick with playing the free stuff.

Doesn't help that I've been having huge problems just getting apps to install..

HW2 is vastly different to the standard Halo we get. I do believe it's coming if sales are fruitful on W10.

It's coming... period? I'm not sure why people continue to be so hung up on this. This is how MS is handling their first party games from now on.

Sorry to hear that, Xyber. :-(

I never said that isn't coming, all I said is "The sales on the W10 version have to do good". What I said isn't wrong and didn't MS also amend one of their articles about all games coming to W10 after E3?

Please understand that I'm not hating. :D

Anyways, lets move on. I can't wait to try this on my new PC. The specs are so lenient.

I take it there isn't much possibility a user could rig together a 3rd party server browser? I haven't looked into what kind of API access there is to Xbox live (or know much about that anyway), but this being a W10 app I'm going to assume that parts locked down.

Forge on PC is certainly a good tool and better than nothing for non-forgers, but putting together custom games is such a pain I can't imagine I will personally get much use of it without one.

It is not the game, it is a tool designed for Halo forgers to better make maps, it is not for average gamers to actually play on.

Can someone run down what custom games mean? I mean I played every Halo game and have heard of the term, but did not touch multiplayer for longer periods.
So there is no matchmaking - you need a group of people to be able to play or can you search for other people?
Can I play crazy modes like all rocket launchers and oddball?
