Pokémon Mafia |OT| Gotta Catch Em’ Scum!

Let someone come in and make their own reads. I did find it a bit amusing that there was discussion about the triangle, the people who created the triangle, and the people who reacted to the triangle creators. How far does the meta rabbit hole go? My point is not to leave any stone unturned.
I'm not sure I got what your point was? That there was meta-commentary? People were too interested?
5 minutes aren't enough to deeply look into Verelios now but I really don't like how he's been putting up the last few minutes. Bulletpoint for tomorrow, I guess.

Your L_P discussion and its fallout surely looked like put on toughness/anger to hide nervousness. Your current anger seemed genuine.
Paging Royal, waiting for bulletin. I dislike this post because it sounds like 'Hey guys, I have an entirely new and BETTER alternative to lynch but let me get back to you tomorrow! Oh, I'm probably not going to vote in order to collate my thoughts, no worries'.
Sorry, flight was delayed, only just caught up.

I am too late though

VOTE: Bronx-Man

But you totally could have Double'd in this post instead of complaining about me
After voting and then unvoting Bronx, is there a reason you voted for him again? Initially you posted it was a mistaken impression from Bronx saying lynching him was a mistake, so was it because he was leading, or just to get rid of an inactive?

well, im about to go sleep, so i wont be here for the days end (and this is going to be a recurring theme).

looks like my vote will be staying on bronx-man.
i didn't really intend for that vote to be going through to the lynch, i just wanted activity, but he still hasn't delivered, so in the absence of any strong scum reads my vote will be staying on him.

but, before i go,

Top Town: Splinter, Melonwabbit, Sophia,

Top Scum: bronx-man, El Topo, Nin1000
(was tempted to say CM, but i think im too biased on that right now.)

naturally these are pretty tenuous reads, but hey, first impressions are important.
This seems pretty disingenuous. You didn't expect your vote to go through but had no other alternatives...then why wouldn't your vote go through if others thought the same? How did Bronx catch your eye as scum anyway?
Woo! Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, that's the first vote I've ever had against me. Thanks Fireblend!

Posting to let you know I'm still here and reading.

When I said I'd be willing to change my vote if someone had a good arguement, I meant just that. I'm realizing I'm not that good at reading people (for now), so if someone gave a compelling arguement for a lynch it would be something I'd look into as well.

I was also mainly hoping that adding another vote onto Bronx would motivate him to come back.
So...this sounds reasonable enough. Would you have changed your vote if Bronx made a compelling argument at the end?

Would they kill him if Unmasked Ferret or melonrabbit was scum?

I can't say for certain either way.

Also I just now realized that my misquote of LP resulted in it counting an accidental vote on Unmasked Ferret on my part. Whoops.

Of course not. Claiming scum would be silly.

:p

I'm not sure what the Barry flips tell us. That there is a third party? That he may have caught a Pokemon?

There was a lot of activity towards the end of D1 among a lot of different groups of players, perhaps Barry was just the safest choice.

Who's flip would be the most beneficial to you right now?

He was really safe though. He didn't have a very strong scum read of anyone.

Barry's flip tells us a little bit of what a Pokemon trainer. I'm pretty sure he was not scum because the chances of a kill like that happening on N1 is just so low.
The OP mentions that Pokemon trainers capture Pokemons to their team, but from Barry's role PM we can see both Barry and captured Pokemons are part of two teams. I'm not sure how win conditions would work out there.
If all conditions are met, the Pokémon will be caught, and will be given the alignment of The Pokémon Team of Lady Gaga, while still retaining also their pre-existing alignment.

I think all of the questions I could think of have already been asked. That makes me sad.

@Sophia you said you voted Bronx because he already had votes, you wanted to get rid of dead weight, and you didn't want to double. So if if ypu had seen the vote on me made by Barry just a moment before the choice would have been between me and Bronx. How would you have voted then, since I didn't contribute much before? You also probably could have made a case against Salva, people probably would have just as willingly broken that tie.

:_:

I just wanted to be part of the triangle.

We can make a new, more complex shape, featuring you, Sophia, Ty, Barry(rip), me, Topo, and LP. And also everyone else who has ever mentioned triangles or shapes of any sort.

I'm pretty sure he was not scum because the chances of a kill like that happening on N1 is just so low.

Sorry but I need to make sure I'm not misunderstanding this. When you say you're sure he was not scum, are you referring to Barry or the person who killed Barry?

Vote: Nin1000

Hello Nin.

Now that we are past Day 1 and have a flip, what are your thoughts on the game? You mentioned you preferred having a Night start so the first Day Phase could provide information in terms of a NK flip. Why do you think Barry was killed? What do you make of his role? What do you think of the Bronx voters since you felt that his lynch was safe?

Yeah it's mostly her power which makes me think she is town. Plus, If she is town, scum can't let her live until end game since a double voter can literally win the game for town,so she should get nk at some point. If that doesn't happen, then I would get suspicious.

I will admit her reason to claim is extremely weak and if she is town that put her in the crosshair of scum for no real reason. So I am very curious why she decided giving blarg something to talk about was deemed more important then keeping hidden for scum.

Hmmm, I'm unsure if you have said anything on him or not but what are your thoughts on Blarg? Actually, thoughts on all the Bronx voters as well would be wonderful. Who do you plan to focus on for Day 2?

Ah, okay. So it was the post I was thinking of. :x

Thank you.

It did strike me as odd, just like the random unvote right as the Day ended. In fact, Royal has been doing a lot of weird things now that I think about it...

My feelings kinda have. Haven't read him that closely, but the day end suspicion against you and me felt kinda genuine. Feels like a scum would've responded less impulsively and tried to convince us otherwise instead of scum reading us.
.

Hmmmm, yeah, I noticed that as well. It did feel like an OMGUS vote and it is partially what fueled my feeling of needed to step back and, well, breathe. I did the same thing last game where I went all in on someone and it ended up with a Townie getting lynched and I had to redo most of my reads because I had been off about the whole situation. I would rather not make the same mistake here but Verelios actions yesterday still sit poorly with me even after that vote.

I also wanted to see what he would do when we stopped arguing since there was little interaction between him and almost everyone else.

This seems like an easy way to shoot myself =/

On mobile but a couple thoughts.

Sophia could be the Gaga aligned trainer right now.

5 votes on Bronx, not a particularly high number but I like the odds of finding one scum there.

I think scum killed Barry, hence why I don't think Barry was scum.
The alternative requires a lucky switch or a scum kill by neutral/vig + a blocked scum NK (or Blarg on the scum team).

Anyhow, wanted to try to make a PoE (process of elimination). (This was written before I saw your post, Sawneeks)

Towniest:
El Topo
Gorlak
Sawneeks
Lone_Prodigy

Seems town:
Dusk Soldier
Blargonaut
melonrabbit
*Splinter
Verelios
Christina Mackenzie

Nullish to town:
SalvaPot
Fireblend
nin1000

Null:
roytheone
Royal_Flush
Ynnek7
StanleyPalmtree

Nullish to scum:
Unmasked Ferret

Scummiest:
Sophia
TheGoddamn

I made some reads over the night like Verelios and CM whom both seemed townie. Verelios had some bite which I mentioned earlier with attacking me late D1 while CM looked different in PiR D1 and seemed to have some actual opinions here. Blarg is mostly a gut feeling, he's not quite Danny Phantom levels (he was suspicious of like 3 or 4 scum on D1), but prodding. Dusk seemed alright from his last post, but again gut. Splinter is opposite, ticks the right boxes, but a couple of posts seem a bit off. Salva, Fire and Nin all seem like their normal selves. Really no read of nulls and I do a poor job reading Roy in general. Ferret seems a bit off and cautious in his posts and Goddamn did nothing in his opening post to change my opinion of his predecessor.

One big takeaway is that I seriously need more scum reads. Unless we have a weird setup with the Pokemon trainers there's probably ~5 scum.

Yup, you're right. There could have easily been a case against Salva or you. I wanted to avoid a no lynch scenario.

(Completely off-topic, but I really enjoyed Mini Mafia's plurality vote instead of majority vote for this reason.)

Ah, okay. So it was the post I was thinking of. :x

I'm really not sure what to make of Royal. His posting style is a little bit different (by his own admission when he asked if people wanted shorter posts) and I'm unsure entirely what to look for with him. I imagine the feeling I have for him is probably similar to the feeling Ty has for me now. :p

On mobile but a couple thoughts.

I'm not. I received no night time notifications.

You there mate? Going to explain keeping your vote on Bronx?

I'm also wary of Splinter but that's a whole nother can of worms

Christina, me going in on you yesterday was not about moving your vote. It was about getting you to contribute to this game. Your whole attitude was more of "I can't keep up", "I'm not ready for this" somewhat unmotivated vibe.

You did not comment once on anyone in a meaningful way. You wanted to pressure Sophia (that was the full extent of your justification for your vote), than you admitted to having overseen the Soph/Ty/Darryl conversation, later you described them all as a null.
You had time to converse with me, but never tried to put out reasons to vote someone. You refused to play the game, hence I tried to get something out of you. But you only were defense against melon (?) and ultimately backed out with a "I'd rather not vote" - you gave up the only thing an ordinary town player has within his powers to win this game.
Thus you are very suspicious to me.

Fair enough.

Having thought about it during the break, I've serious question marks over Sophia's alignment. It would have been incredibly useful for mafia/town if she kept it a secret until later in the game. She decide to use it on D1 on Blargonaut for suggesting that Ty-Sophia-Darryl(TheGoddamn) duke it which is pretty much par for what to expect from him. After doubling on Blargonaut she then goes back to voting for El Topo. Hard for me to decide if it is either town or mafia. Having never played with her, I don't know if that is how she usually plays.

I can't argue about the flavor, Piplup might be a safe claim or not.

If we decide to lynch her today and she flips town, I'm inclined to believe that the majority of the mafia team would have their votes else where, outside the Bronx-man votes.

Just realized I had a few people with questions for me, so I'll get to answering those

Do you have any examples?

This was in regards to me noting that we would have to throw out some preconceived notions about what we're up against. Originally, I figured the teams would be Pokemon, Team Rocket, and Good Trainers. Neutrals, but more town aligned hopefully.

Someone like Lady Gaga showing up as a role kind of makes me doubt Ash or Professor Oak will be along to help fight Team Rocket.

As for the votes yesterday. Ynnek7's stands out the most. The first two votes on him were prod votes cast due to Bronx's inactivity. He still had a vote left on him the beggining of the final day, and Ynnek7's vote:

Kind of reads to me like he's was strategically trying to start a bandwagon. It just the fact that to me, it reads like he had no real intention of coming back to thread after posting this. That gives me a scum vibe.
Hey Ynnek, can you go into more detail as to why you voted for Bronx over other potential votes? I picked him because I wanted to remove deadweight, he had votes on him, I didn't want to waste a double, and it was really close to the deadline. But you had more time than I did.

Like I said in my original vote, I wanted to hear more from him. He mentioned that he'd be back in a bit to post:

Kinda busy with class right now. I'll post my thoughts in a little bit.

sometime around the middle of the day phase, and then didn't post again for over 24 hours. That seems like more than enough time to try prodding a bit more for a response.

So...this sounds reasonable enough. Would you have changed your vote if Bronx made a compelling argument at the end?

Definitely. I probably would have unvoted had I had the time once I saw that Roy voted for him as well. That one seemed to come out of nowhere to me, but his explanation for it at least makes sense.

Honestly, I think the Trainers act, at least partially, as masons. Alignment doesn't matter, just as long as their targeting Pokémon. Maybe something similar to the Xbox chat we had in PiS?

We also don't know their win conditions. Maybe when they've collected a certain amount of Pokémon?

Also was there a particular reason you claimed so early in the game, Sophia?

See here.

I find it strange that mafia would hit a player who was a replacement for Hyper. Didn't see anything interesting in Hyper's post.

This was Barrylocke's biggest post.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=217075030&postcount=638

Why do you think it strange, exactly? GAFia meta tends to side towards either shooting inactives or shooting town leaders. Doesn't seem too unusual to me.

Sophia what's your opinion on Lady Gaga's ensemble last Night

A BACON SUIT!?

tasteful?

or tast-y?

hmm

I'm sure PETA hated it. =P

Who wouldn't want a double voter on their team?

...a fair point, actually.

hence my vote Yesterday

only three ways to find out, really

So you do think she is Scum, then? Was it her role claim that stood out or was there anything else? Because your vote was only over flavor reasons and you had never really stated your doubts about her otherwise. :/
