Zidane is weird. I've always called him Zi-dayne, even though I know Zinedine Zidane is pronounced Zi-da(h)n.
"Nay" rhymes with "yay". (More like a long "neh", really.)Probably not the right place, but I'm hoping they'll say Nayru in Breath of the Wild.
"Tee-dus" definitely weirded me out. I also didn't know that Fi sounded like "fee" until I looked up her name in Japanese. "Nay" rhymes with "yay". (More like a long "neh", really.)
I always knew to pronounce Fi like Fee because Zero Escape has a character named Phi which is pronounced... well like Phi.
Oops, I meant the opposite. I wonder why she wasn't named Fai.It doesn't. The official English pronunciation of Fi is Phai.
So I guess you thought the giant said fee fee fo fum?
Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children can go pound sand.
I will never call her 'tee-fa"

Quistis
What I thought: Kwis - Tees
How its supposedly pronounced: Keys - tiss
What a dumbass sounding name.
What if I told you, that I only watched, not read Jack and the Beanstalk?
What does the cover of FFX show? Tidus walking out of water and onto the shore. In the tide, if you will.
Tide-us for life.
Idiotic pronunciations tbh. I'll continue to pronounce it how I please.I pretty much pronounced everything wrong apparently.
Shiva - Sheevah (supposed to be Shiv-ah)
Ifrit - Ayefrit (supposed to be Ifreet)

I'm positive a whole host of people can't pronounce Final Fantasy's Cait Sith properly.
Zebes. (I only ever heard Zee-bus. Occasionally I heard Zeebs. Never zeb-us.)
It's not pronounced Kate Sith?
For Kazin I am thinking it could be:
Ka-zin
Kay-zin
Ka-zeen
It's pronounced Ket Shee. It's from Celtic mythology.
But... but how? Why even write it that way?

Welcome to Gaelic, where the name Siobhán is pronounced "Shevon" because reasonsBut... but how? Why even write it that way?
Git good at Gaelic, bruh. This one is kind of silly. There's no reason to not pronounce it "Kate Sith" unless you have specific, advanced information about the "correct" pronunciation.

They are named after mythological creatures and Gods. If we had a va, pronounce shiva as shiv-ah I'd question the translator or va director. It's sheeva.I pretty much pronounced everything wrong apparently.

Ifrit - Ayefrit (supposed to be Ifreet)
Apparently a lot of people couldn't pronounce Sephiroth from FFVII correctly, not that hard though honestly.

Put simply: if you know Spanish vowel sounds, you can speak Japanese words.Japanese language is phonetic, meaning it is spoken exactly as it is written. this is in contrast to English which has all kinds of weird unspoken rules. look at the word "science" and try pronouncing all the letters in it.
there are 5 basic vowel sounds in Japanese:
a = "ah", between the 'a' in "father" and the one in "dad"
i = "ee", as in "feet"
u = "oo" in "boot"
e = "ay", as in "hay"
o = "oh"
using this guide, you can easily pronounce anything, or at least get really close to how a Japanese speaker will pronounce it.
"y" is usually pronounced similar to the "i", though it usually appears before another vowel sound, and is intended to lead into it. thus "Ryu" is "Reeoo"
consonants have different pronunciation than English too, Rs and Ls sort of blending into one another for instance, but these are the basics.
