Capcom will be bringing Street Fighter V to arcades in the near future but will be serviced as the PC version. Details will be clarified at a later time.

For Taito, they announced NESiCAxLive 2, their follow-up arcade digital content platform. Companies such as Arc System Works, Examu, FK Digital and French Bread have pledged support for the system. SNK will also take part by announcing that The King of Fighters XIV will be coming to Japanese arcades through this platform.

Nice!! Hope this gets arcade releases outside Japan too, still see sizable people playing on SSFIV machines at my local arcade and we just recently got Tekken 7 too~

Also, confirmed aracde mode for SFV? ;)

I wonder if SFV will be an example of too little too late or will people actually start playing it in the arcades en masse.
If I'm not mistaken, in most cases a home console release of a game lead to barren machines. Unless a big update for the arcade version was released together with it, that is.

There were actually found references to an arcade mode in the files of the game, it's obviously happening in Season 2 or earlier, hopefully people will shut up about it once it comes out.

I hope it does something for SF5 in Japan, its very clear through this whole fiasco, Capcom came out with the sore end of the deal.

I'm crossing my fingers that the Heart of Gaming in London will be able to get hold of one of those SFV cabinets.

Did SNK Playmore actually explain why KOF XIV didn't have an arcade release at launch? I would think that out of all the most popular fighting game series in Japan, KOF XIV would need it the most.

Nah, the thirst for SF is real, lots of people will play, we saw this with AE and Ultra.

It'll make the game more accessible and lots of arcade players don't want to play on console.

Fighting game players aren't like the Gundam crowd, so having a console version shouldn't be a problem. The PS4 is still the standard bearer for both games though since Capcom and SNK are really pushing hard for esports. You have the West as the largest market for SF and the Chinese countries for KOF.

Also Taito probably wanted arcade versions too since Toushinsai is their event. They can't keep using zombie Ultra to bring in SF players. The same also applies to KOFXIV too.

Though the other argument is also to help recoup costs for both Capcom and SNK, especially the latter as the game sold abysmally while feature rich at launch when compared to SFV at launch.

If standard traditional modes in a fighting game is what counts as 'feature rich', I wonder what MK9 and MKX's content would be called :V

Heart of Gaming shut down months ago breh.

It's reopening soon in the West 12 shopping complex in Shepherd's Bush. Apparently it's going to be bigger than the last venue, so they're asking people about games they want to see there on their Facebook page.

Before they shut in their old location, they had 3 (or 4) dedicated SFV cabinets which were converted from Super Megalo's I think. They were completely refurbished and looked great.

The cabs in Japan will probably be Taito Vewlixes.

HOG better hurry up and (re)open!

So...SFV will actually end up being the first arcade fighting game without any sort of attract screen / demo reel then, assuming its 100% identical to current PC version? Hmm.

If season 2 will indeed bring an arcade mode, maybe it'll bring a selectable (in options) attract screen / repeatable intro cinematic / scoring system as well to bring this game more in line with others of its ilk.

Whatever they do, it's a good development imo. For both games. Helps preserve Japanese arcade fighting game culture.

SFV actually has an attract cinematic, it's just inaccessible after the first boot. Just another baffling SFV design decision.

Good. Both games will only benefit from this.

so there is still hope for SFV

SF5 was already pretty full of hope, lol.

Reports of its demise were greatly exaggerated.

Player base is still large, tourney scene is still doing VERY well, viewership is still high (EU finals today got 31k viewers at 11 AM on a Sunday).

I wouldn't be shocked to see SFV get an extreme makeover - menus, UI style, the works, for the arcade version. (That is then reflected in an update to the PS4/PC versions.)

SFV really was a game released over a year before it was finished.

Next year is SF's 20th anniversary. Makes it even more baffling to release it when they did.

The menus are horrifically bad. Everything is static and just feels dead.

You mean the menus are simple and do exactly what they should? They may not be the pinnacle of UI design but they aren't "horrifically bad" by a long mile.

This is great news. When I was in Japan this year there were an insane amount of people playing SFIV in the arcades.

This was their (misguided) plan all along though, a $60 starter pack for a game-as-service game.

This is effectively for Japan or East Asian PC bangs and Japan didn't really adopt SFV in any meaningful way so I figure arcade cabs can't hurt.

The main takeaway from this is that this will encourage Japanese top players to stick with the game.

Other than get some more Japanese players interested, I don't really seeing that doing that much for the game.

Yeah, I don't get the criticism of the UI. They're definitely boring but they work effectively. I prefer them to the SF4 menus and UI that were gaudy and moved a lot slower.

I've already commented about this earlier, but still, great news. Very great news to hear for both games! That means that they would get even more tons of support.

Yeah, it's big news because that also means that Japanese players can finally get away from the atrocious SF IV series altogether.
