OK so I like sinner's prayer and angel down. Hey girl and million reasons are OK too.
That's about it. I didn't hear anything I'd want to listen to repeatedly. Or ever again really.

Lemonade is almost a flawless album - sandcastles is the only blip for me stopping it from being perfect.

Also Lemonade > Self-titled.

Self-Titled is still THAT album. Lemonade would be nowhere if it weren't for it's outstanding visual work and commentary. Ya'll know deep down is true.

No.

Lemonade is just the better album imo. It's the better album for me entirely because Bey actually sings more on this album than Self Titled where I felt she was just talking in melody. Formation (w/ big freeda) >>>> Drunk in Love tbh... As far as singles go.

Formation just goes off.

so I just heard the work tape version of angel down and i have no idea why she included it. i don't think it's different enough to warrant it's inclusion...seems like a waste of a bonus track.

angel down is probably my favorite track, followed by john wayne, then dancin in circles. come to mama is alright, same with ay-o...everything else is pretty mediocre.

:(

Listened to it all! Quick ratings upon first listen:

Diamond Heart: 3/5
AYO: 3/5
Joanne: 4/5
John Wayne: 5/5
Dancin In Circles: 3/5
Perfect Illusion: 5/5
Million Reasons: 4/5
Sinners Prayer: 3/5
Come To Mama: 3/5
Hey Girl: 5/5
Angel Down: 4/5

None of the tracks felt like filler which is a straight up first for a Gaga album, but none of them absolutely slayed me or kicked my ass. Hey Girl's bridge was the highlight of the listening party. Quality of the speakers was kinda weak so I need to listen to these with headphones tomorrow.

Overall the vibe of this album is much like 4 to me. A soulful detour from obvious hits that's bold in its own way but probably not what the fans want. The production is fire even though I feel like much of her vocals are too raw for the suave instrumentals.

Her best songwriting yet, some amazing melodies, and Mark pulled his weight. The album feels too short so I hope the deluxe tracks add some much needed weight. I'm holding off on those til tomorrow. :)

This is true. Lemonade is a much better visual experience than Self-titled while Self-titled is better musically.

What I hate about Lemonade is that Sand Castles could be a GREAT track if Beyonce wasn't serving Gaga level vocals. She completely destroys the song by the way she sings it and it doesn't add ANY emotion to it. Unless she was trying to sound drunk/high/deranged, then she lowkey succeeded.

Overall, I think I like Lemonade more than Self-Titled.

John Wayne and Dancin' in Circles are better than any song on ARTPOP. Wow. She should do Alejandro 2.0 re-ups for the rest of her career from now on. She made the mistake of copying bad Madonna songs instead of ripping off more flaw-free Ace of Base songs. Whew.

Ronson said they started work on Joanne December 2015/January 2016

A ban worthy comment.

i'm sure you'll see the light eventually

Everybody's got to love each other
Stop throwin' stones at your sisters and your brothers
Man, it wasn't that long ago we were all living in the jungle
So why do we gotta put each other down
When there's more than enough love to go around?

Come to mama
Tell me who hurt ya
There's gonna be no future
If we don't figure this out

Come to Mama is adorable. Am I the only one who likes cheesy 80s closing credits Gaga? The Queen, Bad Kids, Highway Unicorn, Fashion!, etc. It's become an entity of its own by now.

Listening to this again with headphones and the album legit comes to life. My first thought was "this is what I hoped Ultraviolence would be." RIP

Diamond Heart is her most autobiographical song yet. John Wayne sounds like a top-tier Born This Way track. Joanne is the second Gaga song EVER to show any kind of restraint (the other being ARTPOP's title track) and it's a stunner.

I haven't heard a pop album that's driven this hard by the lead vocal, probably ever. Even Adele trades off with her (amazing) instrumentation more than Gaga did here. I can understand people who aren't fans of her voice not liking this album at all coz it's right in your face the whole way through. And the huge vocal presence definitely hinders certain songs like Come To Mama, Perfect Illusion and A-YO, particularly when they're not edited or fine-tuned in any way.

As of right now, this feels like a really bold left-field effort while also expanding that classic Gaga sound. Dancin In Circles sounds more like a Fame Monster track than anything released since. Agreed that she should just avoid Madonna sounds and just gun for Ace of Base instead. lol

And yes the album still feels too short. She either overshoots or undershoots with her track lengths. Sigh

I agree with Soulscribe, half the album sounds Lana, the other half being a mix of Gwen Stefani, Taylor, Florence and Adele.

Error 404 Gaga not found.

It was probably intentional though.

Nnnn

Though that begs the question: Does Gaga actually have a distinct "sound"? Or is she just an amalgamation of all her influences set to shuffle?

I...really don't hear it. Lana influences maybe but like not UV idk

Whoops, what I meant was that the album sounds like a progression of Born To Die, which is what I expected Ultraviolence to sound like. I'm happy with the way all these albums turned out lol

I hate the turn made by Lana's career. It's actually similar to Gaga. FIrst album + consequent EP were immaculate. Her later stuff is self indulgent and lacking flavor.

She stablished modern EDM, of course the has a sound. Artflop was her trying to be the more "her" she could without any inspiration whatsoever.

The thing is that she's probably trying to get away from her old image/sound to "evolve as an artist". TBH if I had been laughing stock for the past 8 years, I would too.

So, what songs from Juana you all think Gaga is going to perform during the SB? I am leaning towards a short ver. of Perfect Illusion, A-Yo and/or Dancing in Circles but I can totally see her including Come to Mama.

He's so hot though. I saw him once in the street. My eyes were not ready.

Yeah, he is a very handsome fella... too bad his music belong in the garbage bin =/

I think Gaga and Lana are both bold af and I appreciate that they do whatever the fuck they want. Not everyone has the commercial discipline of Katy or Taylor. Take risks, see where it takes you, and worst case scenario, you can surely pump out another TF or BTD if you can't afford the light bill.
