Nintendo Switch Partners - Bethesda, Atlus, Capcom, EA, Epic, Unity, more

I think there's a limit to that logic. There are diminishing returns on increased fidelity, but once people become used to a certain level of fidelity, it can be difficult to go back. We're about to make a half-gen step forward, and while we don't yet know how Switch games are going to look and play, even if they are hitting equal PS4 and Xbox One levels of fidelity, they're going to start looking a lot worse by comparison.

The other open question is whether or not this is truly more convenient. Are people really going to carry this around over their smartphones? Or are the majority just going to use this in the same way they used the Wii U gamepad? It wasn't enough to make the Wii U a success on it's own, and if we run into another situation where people look at the Switch and say, "Well, the 3rd party experience isn't good (This time because the games are significantly compromised)," the Switch could find itself in the same situation.

I'm pretty excited about the Switch, but saying things like "The Switch is going to destroy everything," seems like a bridge too far.

Imagine what is going to happen in Japan. You have all, or apparently all, of the Japanese developer that used to be exclusive to Playstation onboard with this thing. It's portable in a land of portables. It will destroy the PS4 there.

Bethesda? Definitely Doom. Atlus? Definitely Persona 5. Capcom? Definitely Street Fighter V. EA? Definitely Mass Effect 3: Special Edition. Epic? Definitely Lawbreakers. Can't wait.

Yeah, if you're a developer who makes 3DS or Vita games (or games where the portable is clearly the "lead platform" like Senran Kagura Estival Versus) then jumping to NX is a no-brainer.

Portable Final Fantasy XV? Portable Kingdom Hearts 3? Portable Final Fantasy VII Remake? Please?

I would guess that a game that pushes the current PS4/XBone models to their limits like FFXV will probably be a little much for this thing, though I could be wrong. Any game that's already built to scale down to seventh-gen consoles (Persona 5) or clearly punching well below the PS4/XBone's weight (Neptunia V2, Disgaea 5) will probably do fine, though.

To be honest I don't see any of the games you list here have "definitely" written on their face. My prediction is like:

Bethesda: TESV, Dishornored Remaster
Atlus: SMT and shitty Persona spin-offs
Capcom: More MH
EA: Maybe FIFA

It's already a good sign to have seen Skyrim port, imo.

WiiU got Batman Arkham City, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Mass Effect 3 and Assassin's Creed 3.

It's quite telling that Nentendo use a 2011 game to showcase their western support, I don't think it will get any new releases like Dishornored 2, Watch_Dog 2 or ME Andromeda.

It's like I could see it:

-Console is released
-Some PS360 ports are released with it
-They sell like shit
-3rd parties run away from Switch like they were being chased by the devil

It's always the same story. Nintendo public don't give a f*ck about old third party games. Just remeber ME3 sales on WiiU, Assassins Creed 3 or Need For Speed.

This list is way better than I think pretty much anybody was hoping for.

They release a list like this every gen.

It doesn't mean much.

They will all test the waters of this risky, unproven console with a game or two. If the system flops, they will quickly retract support just like with the Wii U.

Unless the system sells gangbusters, I have trouble imagining seeing Dark Souls, Kingdom Hearts, Battlefield or Red Dead Redemption 2 on here.

They didn't release a list like that for Wii U. The 3DS one was a lot smaller too.

It's fun to dream, but unless Switch performs extremely better than Wii U did at launch, I don't see third parties sticking around very long. Seeing that big list of developers reminds me of all the third party ports that launched with the Wii U and then most of that support dried up within 6 months.

Nintendo needs to court Activision to have Destiny, OverwaTch at launch. A black ops I and II remake on this would will quite well I think.

And by the end, support still became non-existent for the Wii U because the system failed.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if we see much AAA third party support for this past the first year if the system doesn't sell gangbusters.

I don't see how anyone looks at Skyrim as some indicator that the third parties will support this device. I'll believe it when I see it.

If this thing sells, third parties should stay and increase. They want a good userbase.

Nintendo needs to give a good price for this hardware and a strong first party support. The second is a given since now their portable and home console software production should merge.

So what are the major omissions here?

CD Projekt Red?

Support was non existant since before it came out. Some took advantage of trickle down advertising of a new system for quick bucks from ports, which didn't exactly pan out either.
