Bethesda are saying it's not confirmed.

>"While Bethesda's much beloved Skyrim was clearly shown during Nintendo's Switch reveal video, the publisher told us today that it's not officially confirming the game just yet. "We're happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Nintendo on the video. While we are not confirming any specific titles at this time, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Nintendo and support of the Switch. We look forward to revealing specific games and details in the future," a spokesperson said. Skyrim Remastered is set to launch on October 28 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC; perhaps the Switch will receive a version of the Remastered game at launch?"

Maybe it's actually Elder Scrolls VI we saw!

I don't think it is significant at all. It's a super low risk, safe move on Bethesda's part. If the Switch bombs or this port sells like crap they lose next to nothing. It's the kind of support that Nintendo got last gen on Wii U. A whole lot of "testing the waters". When I see something beyond that (a new ip, a day and date with PS4/PC/xbone launch of a new title) then I will consider it significant.

That said, I'm not expecting that, and for me personally it doesn't make or break the Switch as a purchase, but people who think this is a sign that Nintendo is getting anything close to the level of western third party support as the competition are probably in for a world of disappointment.
I think Scooter is right, this is not a large commitment on Bethesda's part, and the perfect testing of the waters app. It's actually a pretty brilliant idea, and a great title to port, I'm betting there are a number of Nintendo gamers who don't own other consoles that have yet to play it. The tech is well suited for the games hardware requirements, and I doubt this will be the Re-mastered version.
See that mountain? You can go and play Skyrim on it.
LOL, clever.

I'm starting to think since with Nvidia help and that the NX is very close to PC and is very easy to port from PC. The NX version of games might be base or ported from the PC versions instead.

Skyrim still has 20-30k players on Steam every day. In fact, it currently has more people playing it than Fallout 4.

People will buy Skyrim on a portable system.

I will buy it. For the third time.

*Initial playthrough on PS3. Water glitch killed my save and burned me bad.
*Bought on Steam to playthrough with Mods.
*Will buy on Switch for portable play.

Why I buy same game 3 times? Why?

Without mods won't it be boring since you probably got used to the gameplay changes they made?

They already said the tech currently isn't where they want it for ES6, and it's years off. I wouldn't expect it for another 2 or 3 years. Hopefully they use a non-shit engine this time.

That was clearly Skyrim, they are just being coy at this point.

I have wanted a portable Elder Scrolls game for a while, and now, here we are. I guess I'll be quadruple dipping on Skyrim lol.

Cool for the people that want it on it. If it comes, though it would be weird to be in the unveiling, only to be, lol, nope.

But really low impact for me in terms of significance. Old game port. If their next game, like the new Quake, Wolfenstein comes out on it day and date with the other platforms on the switch, that would actually mean support from Bethesda. This is just a token game thrown on it.

And I was clearly joking. lol

Has this been posted? Kinda ridiculous.

"Skyrim not confirmed for Nintendo Switch", basically.

I might have actually double dip if it was confirmed.

I feel like they are just saying "maybe" to try and protect current sales of the remastered edition.

Someone else pointed this out, but none of the confirmed 3rd parties were allowed to say what they were bringing to the NX, and most had the same sort of PR spin. It was assumed they're all still under NDA until Nintendo does their full blow out. Nintendo didn't even confirm the existance of any of the game it showed.

The other argument is the portability, and im not sure Skyrim and other immersive triple-A games really shine there. If one just takes a look at portable gaming in general, the most popular games are usually a bit easier to pick up and play, and easier to digest in the kinds of spaces that you would normally carry around a portable console,
The thing is, what else is there portable to compare this to? It's not a close comparison but I'm not sure we get closer than something like Ocarina of Time 3D? And I'd say Skyrim is friendlier to play in small portions than that, both thanks to the ability to save anywhere and unlike Zelda games there's not such a focus on a small number of large dungeons.

Actually this is a really good point, they're probably not allowed to talk about it yet, even though its in Nintendo's video.

The way I see it, it's not that it won't be coming to NS, they clearly said they "can't confirm it". ME:A was already confirmed to NOT release for the system, but both Bethesda and Rockstar said they "can't confirm" Skyrim and RDR2. Nintendo probably has them gagged still with that info to leave Nintendo to reveal the games themselves in a future direct. That's my guess. Though I heard Metro was supposed to come out to WiiU, but I don't know if the devs said they can't confirm it or is straight up not coming.

I don't doubt that that's the case for some games (probably not RDR2, though), but that begs the question of why Sega was able to announce it in the Sonic trailer.

I hadn't thought about that. Still, SEGA is a very close third party dev to Nintendo and were probably given permission, since Sonic is a HUGE icon to Nintendo fans today. Especially since SEGA put the efforts to get Generations a port to the 3DS when the others were current (at the time) consoles.

I honestly can't see the reasoning behind people who are expecting Mass Effect Andromeda and RDR 2 to be running on Switch. Skyrim is possible, but those games are out of its league.

People should remember that Switch is basically a tablet.

If it support mods.......I just dont know how this isnt a system seller.

I mean if its discounted and have no mod support. It'll sell anyway, but on par to the current versions it be a system seller.

I've gotten a lot of Nintendo handhelds but have never bought a home console from them.

If Switch offers a portable Skyrim, then day one without a second thought.

I'd preorder it right now if they can somehow get EA to put NHL on there.

I have no idea why you'd consider this game to be a system seller for any console, let alone a Nintendo one.

.

Because it's a 5 year old game that will have been available (yes even some with mods) on 5 different platforms by the time the Switch comes out? Anybody who has wanted Skyrim that bad has had countless opportunities to do so over the years, and likely already have.

things are looking dire for a port of this game to NS

the developer does not inspire confidence even as many would love to play Skyrim on the go
