How this book is so good, the world may never know. Is it Higgins' writing? Is it Prasetya's pencils combined with Herms colors? Is it Herms' colors? It's Herms' colors.

Anyways, it's to see the MMPR: Pink concept make it's way over here. Also, I've slightly altered my Black Dragon prediction:
He's either a tainted manifestation of Zack's interactions with the Dragon coin OR he's Tommy's brother.

Weavers #6
Well damn. Now this is how you end a goddamned series. With a bang. Overall a good series that I'll have to re-read. I wasn't really feeling this series initially, but I'm super glad I stuck with it. Great twists at the end.

One issue:
Why would the rest of the spiders come after Sid? It seems he got rid of his, so they can't track him. He'll most likely leave the city all together. Also if Sid no longer has a spider, then what threat is he really? The organization is in shambles by itself, and Sid no longer has an investment in that life anyways. Vengeance can't be part of it, because Frankie has all the loyalty. Anyone loyal to her dad is either dead or they've fallen in line. Frankie's not gonna let anyone go after him. Don't really see the point.

Overall a great book, and highly recommended. Much like Cry Havoc and X-Force, Spurrier leaves a great open ending. He has a real sweet spot for these kinds of endings, which may make him predictable in the future, but boy does he do them so well that it won't even be a problem.

Rom #3
Goddamn I said GODDAMN this was cool as fuck. Someone...holy shit someone help me lawd I ain't breathin. All Imma leave you with is this:

"And become a butterfly."

Actually I have one question:
D'rge mentions Tellus-5. Isn't that where the Autobot prison that Overlord took over located? Or is that somewhere else? Either way I could have sworn that Tellus-5 was important to the Transformers mythos, which raises interesting questions about why the wraiths would be involved in that.

Rom: REVOLUTION #1
Pretty cool all around. Nice action and I'm pretty sure Rom is one of my favorite characters ever at this point. Not sure how this pieces in with everything until I start reading REVOLUTION for realsies, but I'm just getting started.

Guardians of the Galaxy #12-13: Ya know, I was expecting this tie-in to be terrible, but it wasn't half bad!

By that I mean, issue 12 is bad. It's about what you expect given the status of the crew and the manner of their arrival. But between Rocket's sermonizing on how terrible humans are for pages, delivering hot Bendis takes on various social issues, and the repeated scenes from CWII, and Bendis failing to express clear motives for ANY of these characters (except Peter) beyond blind loyalty to Carol, it's worse than it needed to be.

13, though! This issue is fucking terrific. In this issue, Gamora
goes on a fucking rampage and she and Carol kick the shit out of each other
. It's GREAT. It's GORGEOUS. And it's cathartic, too. That pretty much covers the whole issue, it's simple but it works. It pops. Some of these panels, god damn. Can't wait for Gamora's solo.

This issue also begins to introduce the fact that
the civilians of the MU are still awful and yeah they do think Carol's the greatest
. Ugh.
Maybe they can be her new friends, she's running out.

Another light week for me, which is fine as I have a few trades to get through this week anyway.

Finally time to buy the rest of Locke and Key with this sale!

Is there a difference between Afterlife with Archie and the Afterlife with Archie magazine?

Finally time to buy the rest of Locke and Key with this sale

Yay. Reading his latest novel right now, and while I want him to get right to work writing the next novel haha, I also really wish he wrote more comics. Imo one of the best and he'd easily be a personal top 3 writer if only he actually wrote more of em. Locke and Key is a masterpiece.

Where had you got up to previously?

Oh awesome, you have so much good stuff to go then!

Re: the fireman, It's REALLY good. It takes a few chapters to find its rhythm and settle into the lead character imo but once it gets to what the high concept for the book was obviously meant to be it reaaaally starts to get rolling and to go places, I'm finding it difficult pacing myself right now, I just want to bash right through it. Lots of interesting ideas and not quite in the ways I expected going in.

I actually saw an interview with him recently where he said his next book will be a collection four novellas, one being set in the Locke and key world, which is neat!

Gwenpool #7: A delight. What else is there to say about the queen of Marvel comics? Every page is a treat.

Hadrian's Wall 1-2: Pretty decent outer space mystery! Simon Moore is a really well-developed protagonist, connected to the mystery that is unfolding, and about to
go nuts in outer space thanks to narcotic withdrawal
. This is a clever ticking time bomb that helps emphasize the isolation of our deep space setting. Not a huge fan of the art; it has that computerized colors/inks look I find totally unappealing, and there are some crazy thick outlines here and there, a stylistic choice that doesn't work for me.

Hadrian's Wall is an evocative name...I expected a space station, not a ship. I wonder if anything will come of it or if it's just a cool title?

Sticking with this one for now. Deep space, well realized. Compelling mystery. I'm in.

AAAAAHHHHHHHH I totally forgot to add Motor Girl to my list. I only ever skim the indy release list for Giant Days.

When you guys read comics, are you usually watching nba games, wrestling, or listening to people cover Taylor Swift songs? I think you should try it.

Sometimes I have the TV on, but I sometimes listen to classical music while reading comics or manga. *snobby Freeza*

Hillbilly #3: So.

Please excuse the purple prose but

Reading Hillbilly is like sitting around a campfire listening to a master storyteller spin tall tales. I can feel the closeness of the woods and hear the crackling fire. That sense of dread, the primal fear of the unknowable dark in those woods. It's an incredibly evocative work of art. Folks, Powell is killing it on this book. Just absolutely killing it. You owe it to yourselves to try it. You could pick up any issue really and you will immediately fall into this world. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Haha oh no you found me. I just set it up recently, mostly to like and retweet things and ask the odd question to people. Cheers though man.

Yeah I saw your replies to Donny Cates. If you use the words Image Comics in a tweet chances are I'm going to see it lol. I get bored and search that a lot.

Bro, I am there day one on every issue. Fantastic book. Powell is one of those guys who can draw and write with equal talent.

Haha I knew it. I think that book is going to be awesome man. I was going to share the reviews in here but seems so early still, it's one thing to get reviews out there and then there's too early ha. I really like what I'm hearing and seeing about God Country though.

Even failing Moore books tend to go on for awhile though, so it's cool. I feel like he has to know the downsides of publishing the way he does. I'm sure Image would gladly take him if that's what he wanted.

Maybe he's like the Nintendo of comics. He does his own thing for the fans he has instead of trying to appeal to the wider industry.
