EU here, going to pick up my Pro in 30 min. Any word on the BF1 patch?

Downloading BF1 for myself right now.

It looks like the may have simpley enabled the PS4 Pro GPU and CPU while playing BF1 since launch, instead of downclocking for comparability. As the game apparently maintains a much higher and more stable framerate, and keeps a resolution of 900p-1080p the entire time with no dynamic res drops.

Now if this is the complete plan for the "patch" or if this is just a stop gap, no one knows, because Dice is under NDA from MS.

If it's a Samsung it's most likely only HDMI 1, and you have to toggle "UHD Color" in the Advanced Picture settings. Also, update your firmware via USB. The Samsung OTA updates have been spotty for me. As in, they release new firmware on their support site, but it's not getting it OTA, so I had to use USB to update.

It's an LG. It says in the manual that all 3 hdmi ports are hdcp 2.2, and I have the latest firmware that I can download from the tv installed. I'll check on their website though about the firmware, maybe there is a newer one I can download to usb and try that.

Going XBOS for MP titles & PS4P for SP titles from today onwards.

Really wish Sony would get their shit together in regards to ease of use for MP.

I'm such an idiot, I bought a new HDD for my pro, and I forgot that I can't format the drive haha. Fuck, I'll have to get a friend to format it.

I sincerely doubt that seeing as they just kept releasing paid DLC without ever focusing on the performance issues since launch.

It's nice to want things though.

The PS4 will auto format any drive you put in.

FFS. Just bought a Pro and a PSVR for my recently bought Sony X700D 4K TV and after about an hour of setting it up in the burning heat of this Queensland evening I get the PS4 Pro menu looking decidedly 1080p...

Check resolution settings and yes, 1080p, with both 4K options greyed out with the bracket "Unsupported" next to them...

What the fuck?

Could it be because everything is going through the PSVR? Or because I've not yet installed the 4.05 firmware update? Latest firmware installed on the TV, was watching 4K Netflix just the other day.

Thats a question I wouldn't mind getting an answer to actually, on the original PS4, hdd upgrades were limited to 9.5mm height drives or slightly more, can someone who has already upgraded confirm if 12mm drives fit this time?

Are you using HDMI 2.0 cable?

connect ps4 pro directly to tv, i suspect the passthrough box for psvr won't be happy with passing 4K

The box can pass 4K, just not HDR.

I'm using the HDMI cables that came with the Pro and PSVR.

I thought passthrough box was confirmed to be happy with 4K just not with HDR?
Yeah I'm just thinking that somewhere down the line the tv isn't happy with the 4K signal due to the length of the cables overall, so connecting direct to the tv with the cable that came with the ps4 pro might give better results, my experience with pass through devices and 4K has been that some tv's are more temperamental about cable length than others.

I think it's 9.5mm in the PRO, it said 9.5mm on the PS-blogg at least.

I'm about ready to punch a hole in the wall :(

I just checked my e-mail and I received a response finally from LG support. They said some 4k blu ray players and apparently also the pro are causing an hdcp handcuffing issue but didn't offer any kind of solution to fixing it.

X700D only has hdmi inputs 2 and 3 support for full hdmi2.0 bandwidth. Have you tried those ports?

Pro setup, HDD switched, currently restoring so will be ready about 2330.

Looks great in person too - love the nod to the gloss cover with the logo.

Change HDMI ports. Look in the TV for Enhanced HDMI Format Signal if possible.

Ok it turns out that when you update to the 4.05 Pro OS, you get a message saying that you need to update the PSVR system software in order for the passthrough box to support 4K!

Try turning off HDCP in the PS4.

Primarily prefer Microsofts approach to party invites / chat / friends list / etc.

On the back end I don't run into many issues between the two.

Ah that's fair enough, I generally group up with randoms and rarely go the party route so it's never come in to play for me, but could understand frustrations if a competitor is doing that kind of thing so much better.

My old PS4 has been doing the disc eject thing for a while, but I was too lazy to go and replace it.

But now my laziness has paid off! I made a warranty claim, got store credit, so I walked away with a PS4 Pro + Dishonored 2 + ROTTR for $150 Australian.

I honestly had no idea I'd end up with this machine, but it feels so good having this to go along with my 4K TV. Still a bit salty it doesn't play UHD Blu Ray discs though.

Just as a PSA:

Everyone knows that these 4k TV's you guys are buying are probably overscanning out of the box right? You have to fix that in the TV's picture size settings. Screen Fit, Just Scan, Dot by Dot, whatever it is - the 16:9 setting on most TV's overscans. Which is bad. It causes the image to no longer be one to one pixel mapped which causes the image quality to take a nose dive. This is even more noticeable on a 4k display.

I don't think I've had a TV default be overscan in years? What TV brands still have this as an issue?

I think i positioned mine bad - in cabinet, back fans facing the back of the wood.

Gave Rise of the Tomb Raider a spin at "high framerate" setting because i want that 60fps and while i have a UHD its not "HDR" (so cant use the 2160p RGB setting).

Pro sounds like a jet engine...but its possible its just because the back fans dont have space shifted it to the side so i'm looking directly onto the right of the console and will see what happens...

Heavier too!

I had the same issue with my past samsung 1080p tv. Problem is, there were no settings about overscan/picture size!
The only way to get the proper pixel mapping was to rename the input to "PC". So definitely try this if all else fails.

I have the following games that support the Pro:

Uncharted 4
Last of Us
Elder Scrolls Online
Ratchet & Clank

What newer game that takes advantage of the Pro should I pick up with my system? I want something more new, but something that really takes advantage of the system. Gamestop had a listing of games that have Pro support and Mafia 3 stood out, but I have not heard what enhancements the Pro version of Mafia 3 does.

Any suggestions for Pro Enhanced games do you recommend?
Hitman and Tomb Raider are great choices.

My local MediaMarkt has already been putting out a launch deal at 379EUR.

Seriously tempted, but I think I can hold off until I upgrade to a 4K TV first.

Pretty sure I'm going to start a new game of Ratchet and Clank while I wait for some installs and patches to come down

I would pay extra for Amazon to use anyone else but Amazon Logistics, DPD for the original PS4 was great, knew exactly where they were and how far off your delivery was. Who knows when Amazon logistics will deliver it, its been sitting in their carrier facility since 1am and hasn't moved since, knowing previously deliveries I won't get it till 1-2pm if not later.
