Rumor Mill (TAKE WITH GRAIN OF SALT): Marvel vs Capcom 4 revealing at PSX/Capcom Cup

Don't care for Marvel much anymore, but if they can get Black Panther, Luke Cage, and
Shuma Gorath
up in here I'll be golden on that end.

I'm just wondering how this'll work whatsoever. Will this even have the same development team? You'd think we'd hear a lot more rumblings about this beforehand and less pessimism from Capcom when it came to their other fighting games if this was true. idk, I'm just not buying it yet.

I'd love a MvC4, but I'd be kidding myself if I didn't say that I might have more enjoyment from the speculation. Already have my fake roster addition chart and stage wish list charts ready too. Hopefully Marvel would get that ant-FF/X-men stick out of its butt for this, if true.

Incidentally, I would prefer that logo that's been posted to be fake, not because of the Sony exclusiveness, but rather because I think the tone that the thing sort of has goes farther away from the hip and colorful tone of MvC2 that I love. Not that it couldn't have that sort of tone even with that logo, but it would sort of be a sign that the game might try to be too serious for its own good.

teaser trailer? MVC remastered?
looks like inspired by Marvel Studios new logo intro. Also same "4" logo design

I'm not believing any of this shit. There's been far more elaborate fakes these days. Not gonna let myself get burned.

Spider-Man is THE most profitable superhero in the world and his games afaik have been multiplat

When it comes to exclusivity I don't see why MvC would be off limits

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
I thought a guy from Capcom said like four days ago that Marvel vs Capcom 4 wasn't in development ?

In any case, I highly doubt MvC4 is in development. Capcom can't do these things without getting bankrolled by a console developer (so the rumor being Playstation Experience makes sense), but they'd need Marvel's support (who knows there is Vs Fans wanting it) which is highly doubtful (given they never did long-term support for Marvel 3).

Well some people have mentioned Iron Galaxy, who is at least in the same country. :p

No way. This is a much bigger deal than KI and I don't know if they can handle it with their size. Maybe they can help in dev though.

But if you're right, what a slap to Capcom.

I enjoyed what i played of Marvel 2 and 3, i'm not good at those games but they're fun for some button mashing. I would buy a sequel if i liked the roster.

Even not counting Children of the Atom or MSH, X-men vs. Street Fighter came out originally in September of 1996. It is over 20 years old. That wording seems really odd. Has there ever been a teaser before where it goes "celebrating almost X years" rather than just saying "celebrating X years" ? Its minor, but it seems fishy.

Marvel in 2016 is a lot different than Marvel in 2011, enforcing a deal that was made BEFORE Disney purchased them.

One key thing to remember here is that, for a long period of time, Disney was trying to make their own way in gaming. Now that they're back to licensing, there was ALWAYS a bigger chance at MvC4.

To me, X-Men Children of the Atoms will always be the first "Marvel vs. Capcom" game on the account of Akuma being an unlockable playable character.

Granted, to Capcom, it might be X-Men vs. Street Fighter. In the intro scene for MVC2, it shows a timeline of the VS. series up to that point, and it begins with XvsSF.

That's actually the Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter promo pic you're looking at.

Hush, obviously this is a NS exclusive game. They have to made a deal with Nintendo to fund the development of the game like they did with Sony for SFV. Pokemon GO confirm for MVC 4.

Probably depending upon if you count Xmen Children of the Atom since some say that is the first vs cross over game. Obviously nothing is real until its confirmed, but based upon what we've heard between Disney shutting down their games development and wanting to license out their ip, the handling of the ps4 spiderman exclusive, capcom's past deal with sony to make SFV happen, and the guy who leaked the whole mvc3 roster also mentioning hearing stuff, thats an awful lot of smoke from an awful lot of directions maybe its not mvc4 and its just a mvc3 remaster but something is happening.

Was Ghost Rider ever in any of the games? I want him so bad. Medusa, Quake and Bolt from Inhumans too.
He was in UMvC3. Though we may get Ghost Rider back, it may be a different Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes) to line up with the MCU
, though Johnny Blaze does exist in the MCU
.

As for the Inhumans, those 3 & Ms. Marvel are the safer bets.

If this is true Black bolt, black panther, and namor have to be in it

Black bolts hypers would be awesome, level 1 a combo ending with a whisper, level 2 a full scream, level 3 Masterblow.... my god i want this to be real now

How many characters were announced with marvel vs capcom 3?

When MvC3 was announced, they announced 6 characters, 3 for each side. They had Ryu, Chris, and Morrigan for Capcom and Wolverine, Hulk, and Ironman for Marvel. They also released teaser art showing several characters obscured, which I believe were Deadpool, Captain America, Dormammu, Super Skrull, Doom, Dante, Felicia, Trish, Chun Li, and oddly enough Frank West who wasn't actually in MvC3, but instead got in at UMvC3.

IIRC Frank was planned for MvC3 but was cut late in development

I think I have two semi-realistic rosters. One for if the X-Men/F4 are fair game, one if they aren't. I think I had this drawn up a few months ago for when the ban was in full-swing, but I'll work on another one in a few posts that could show off my guesses for if Capcom isn't limited by studio politics. For now, here's my guesses for if Capcom can't use the Fox characters (I made the limit 50 to be on the optimistic side). Newcomers are underlined.

MARVEL
  1. Captain America
  2. Iron Man
  3. Thor
  4. Hulk
  5. Black Widow
  6. Hawkeye
  7. Captain Marvel
  8. Black Panther
  9. Spider-Man
  10. Ant-Man
  11. Vision
  12. Loki
  13. Thanos
  14. Ultron
  15. Star-Lord
  16. Nova (Richard Rider, Sam Alexander is an alternate costume with unique voice clips by his Ultimate Spider-Man VA)
  17. Rocket Raccoon
  18. Black Bolt
  19. Medusa
  20. Ms. Marvel
  21. Quake
  22. Doctor Strange
  23. Dormammu
  24. Daredevil
  25. Iron Fist

CAPCOM
  1. Ryu
  2. Chun-Li
  3. Rashid
  4. Akuma
  5. Mega Man (Classic)
  6. Zero
  7. Tron Bonne
  8. Leon S. Kennedy (Captain America is now voiced by Roger Craig Smith, who does a similar performance for Chris & Cap, so.....yeah)
  9. Jill Valentine (Revelations)
  10. Albert Wesker
  11. Dante
  12. Vergil
  13. Mike Haggar
  14. Strider Hiryu
  15. Asura
  16. Lute (MH Stories) (if the MH team can get that stick out of their asses, but Lute may be a way around their previous gripes)
  17. Arthur
  18. Viewtiful Joe
  19. Amaterasu
  20. Gene
  21. Phoenix Wright
  22. Morrigan
  23. Felicia
  24. Frank West
  25. Spencer

Shame one you Neoxon putting only 2 DMC characters there. How about putting Nero? He pretty much would be a hybrid of Spencer and Dante, which is awesome.

Also you forgot to underline Asura.
I considered it, but I feel like Nero could be awesome as DLC. Plus the Sparda Bros. are the most popular of the DMC lot. I also fixed the Asura error (thanks for pointing that out).

I would be so mad if stupid Rashid made it in.
Rashid was a fan-favorite & ended up having the best arc in SFV's story, so it's honestly between him & Necalli as the main SFV rep for MvC4 (if it's happening).

No RE7 stuff?
I'm not sure what I would add from RE7, but I could swap out Felicia for a rep from RE7.
