AMD Crimson ReLive Driver Leaked Slides

First the needed warning that these are leaked from wccftech but we have been expecting this driver for a while now so I doubt they are fake. This is their big annual driver in their new release cycle with new features and fixes. Some interesting features are the "chill" mode and gameplay recording directly from radeon software.

Some selected slides.

chill me if old.

Edit: missed the important information that these are releasing on December 8th, according to wccftech anyway.

Edit2:

never left the stone age
Lmao, Wattman support for literally everything but the 270-280 series.

Like, why 260, 285 but not 280 and 270? Why the R7 260?

I've got to hand it to the Crimson team for their work over the year. One issue I hope they address is the broken virtual super resolution on newer drivers (at least for some people). I haven't been able to get it to work since 16.7.2, which is okay since those are superb drivers.

Looks solid.

Only the WattMan stuff right? I want to be chill too :(

Edit: Oh the fineprint does say "Compatible with GCN and GCN Polaris"

Don't really know about chill, it's coming out in two days anyway we'll know then.

So, 270 and 280 owners cannot upgrade to new drivers after this comes out?

I don't see anything about dropping support for gcn 1, just that they are not supported by wattman.

I keep talking about how I want AMD to step up and make the market more competitive so prices fall and whatever else, but now i see AMD as a more viable alternative yet I'm locked in thanks to G-Sync.

Keep doing better, AMD

Im seeing 100% of improvement there, right?

The bars don't represent the total performance, only the increase. . so like if you look at it, the 8% increase is double the 4% increase. . the 100% and increased performance are using different scales, a very weird graph if you ask me.

I wonder if Chill will reduce temps more than my current undervolt...

I don't understand what they're trying to show with the frametimes, but I'm assuming it's good.

he was being sarcastic.... I think.

Overclocking software built into crimson.

True, but it's used for more than just overclocking. It lets you adjust voltage, fan speeds and temperature targets as well.

I've used it to undervolt my RX 480, resulting in lower temperatures and power consumption, without sacrificing performance.

Well I was comparing to the likes of afterburner which can do those things as well but yeah.

I agree chill looks very interesting.

This might be a good place to ask. I got a 1060 a couple of months ago but I'm considering getting a 480 since that supports freesync and my monitor does too. Would it be worth it?

Very nice set of additions.

They are finally adding GameDVR that is built in into the driver itself. And it even supports direct encode into H265! :D

Chill sounds great, although it's only compatible with a few games for now. Seems like it has to be implemented on a per game basis but hopefully they get the big ones first.

Concidering you bought the card just a couple months ago, I'd probably just wait until next years models before switching it. Then you'll get both Freesync and a larger performance boost.

Don't forget FreeSync Borderless Fullscreen Support which is HUGE

Is this confirmed? Sounds dope!
