November 2016 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes Tuesday, December 6th

no just the green lime color was amazon exclusive

$99 n3ds was no promotion in europe, but then again us and europe is very different when it comes to priecepromotions. in europe retailer are very pricecompetitive and undercut the msrp and the competition to sell more. us is more manufacturer driven

3dsXL including sun or moon was 139€ in germany. that was the best deal so far
If it was US only they should have concentrated shipments there. I guess it sold out because of strong demand, not short supply. 3DS numbers could be huge.
WiiU though - will be interesting to see if it can break 100k.

So, I finally had a chance to look over everything. From what I can tell in the SKU comparisons, I'm going to call the PS4 as the winner in our stores. I checked across districts, and it just looks like we just moved more overall hardware on the Sony side over the month.

Pro did pretty well for itself, between preorders and overall momentum (Honestly, Black Friday and the Holiday conscious has nothing to do with this, though there were some buying them as Christmas presents for their significant others in my own store). And the Pro certainly helped make the difference in the monthly aspect.

Whether that puts them down from last year I'm working on calculating, it's certainly doesn't feel like a blowout one way or the other.

--------

FFXV did pretty well for its first week! (Though I'm still catching up on the weekend details of that after being away for PSX. My manager is still exasperated that he allows for me to have the time away). Preorders were mostly picked up across the board, not to mention ship outs of online orders, and then we got stocked pretty decently, and it seems like people are happy to see a new FF on shelves. Whether they sit for awhile or not it will remain to be seen.

Differences in SKU performance is pretty staggering though, if I hadn't been expecting it. I've been monitoring these numbers in advance as you all know, and there's been not a lot of extra traffic for XB1 copy pickup beyond preorders. Here's hoping that changes, because the game is great and I tell people about it all the time.

Thanks for the infos Abdiel!

Hope you recover well from both the BF period + PSX.

According to what you've seen, is it the pro that puts the PS4 family just over the edge for the month for you guy, or is the PS4 slim beating the XB1 overall, the pro being the cherry on top?

Look, I don't mean to be harsh, but I feel both your posts replying to me are simply overly long for the sake of looking professional and don't really stick to the point. I just said Amazon monthly charts can't tell the gap accurately at all and no, not even relative performance, really. Using the same principle from my earlier example, let's say PS4 at #1 and XB1 at #19 last year were 100K apart. This year, PS4 at #3 and #20 while XB1 at #9, #17 and #36 could mean a 120K gap. The rankings might prove that the XB1 is more competitive this year, but since we don't have the numbers for overall sales on Amazon, there is literally nothing we can take from the Amazon monthly charts to make an accurate prediction. The only things to take away are which console is on top for the month and the demand for a particular product.

Edit: I'm not saying the gap between the two will be smaller this year, the XB1 does indeed look more competitive this holiday season. However, Amazon has no accurate way of proving or disputing that.

What was that user's name that kept coming back a couple months after getting banned like 2-3 years ago? Kind of an agro poster that would just argue for nothing? Dang I can't remember.

Can you speak to how TLG is doing since it's releasing today? Thanks!

November seemed to drag on forever. I mean, the sales numbers we're all looking forward to seeing obviously date back to before the U.S. election, and just before the Chicago Cubs won the World Series.

Just saying, November seemed like a long ass month.

I don't normally post for NPD, but since there's only 3 mins left. Why not?

[3DS] 900K
[PS4] 1400K
[WIU] 125K
[XB1] 1250K

[NES] 100K for the whole planet. Why no stock Nintendo, why?

That could be anyone, you know, many fit your description. I mean just off the top of my head : Microsoft Chad, Hermain Cain, Doctor Professional, The Grim Reaper, Microsoft VP Hunert Smoke, SayBooSayDo-SayBooSayWho...etc.

I'm sure he was talking about Microsoft Chad/Hermain Cain. That guy came back so many times with so many ALT accounts it was crazy.

I think it's possible that FF XV will do pretty well both November and December. The game is in 6th at the November chart and 3rd at the december chart (Amazon best sellers).

Bigger than the last year? Impressive.
Actually I think they say Best Black Friday Week -ever-.

Edit: whether that includes software and isn't true if only considering hardware, I do not know.

Biggest Black Friday ever for Playstation in general, not even PS4.
Seems like there is potential for yoy growth for PS4.

as the week becomes a sales powerhouse all over the world, that's not surprising.

black friday wasn't as big in the ps3 era. especially not outside the us.
plenty of room to grow further

Just realized they announced that the day after predictions close.

Sony trolling SalesGaf confirmed ;)

Yep it seems like people have strongly understimated PS4 here.
It will be interesting to see tomorrow which consoles will achieve growth, if any.

That's also including PS2 as well and PS2 had gigantic November sales.

Manage those expectations. YoY growth in 4th holiday ain't happening. That's my story, sticking to it.

Ah yes, weren't some of these names just the same person? Recent posts have me reminiscing.
You're gonna stick to it until you realize I'm gonna let Ryng Tolu choose your Avatar :)

(Wonder when he is supposed to get back from Ban btw?)

Do they designate black Friday in just the U.S.? I hate to analyze all nitpicky, but I'm just thinking about it on a global scale makes more sense in line with what cosmic and I were sort of discussing. I say sort of because it wasn't a lengthy back and forth or anything. Haha.

I think hanspampel is a different person this time mainly because his posting style is very similar to that of a permabanned user of banned site. The dude made countless alts over the past few years until suddenly recently, he just stopped making them. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I think the posting style gives it away.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Ah yes. Who could ever forget about the sales vodoo post he made? He may have edited it and erased any physical trace, but the pain I felt while reading it still runs through my veins. Horror and cerebral pain.

Sony hired MS PR team confirmed.

You mean because they're too high?

Oh yeah he was really entertaining for a while before it got real weird.
I think mine are too low now that the pr came out
Or I have the misconception that bf is predominantly us market focused
But now that you question it I should've been more conservative

So yeah too high

lol I like how your post went from one to the other by the time you hit submit.

Black Friday has very much become large across the world and deals were really good in Europe that's for sure.

yes gigantic november sales. just not as concentrated around black friday. sony claims biggest black friday period ever. not total november.

by the way. if people want to believe the ubisoft team managers 2million number for bf that was posted on twitter, the first 3 weeks of november seem to be slower this year.

last year: 29,3m shipped and 0,9m more sold through the week before bf (3 weeks into holiday)
this year: 47,4m shipped and 2,6m more sold through the week after bf (5 weeks into holiday)

disclaimer: this is again no perfect observation, because we don't know the exact stock situation for 2015 and 2016. one or another year could have more units on shelf going into the holiday season
for all those who are a little sensitive when i provide some numbers and estimates:p
