Just out of curiosity, what is your guys least favorite Pokemon this generation?
Personally I really don't like Shiinotic.
I mostly dislike it because there's nothing interesting about it. Just another mushroom, that doesn't seem to have much flavor/attitude and is a complete eyesore. Strength Sap is cool tho.
Not a fan of this one either. One step closer to a full team worth of mushrooms though, we'd only need a couple more.
Bruxish
Oh look. It's another single stage fish Pokemon that has terrible stats and looks like shit. The only thing this ugly monster is useful for is breeding its unique move onto Sharpedo.
This one is really awful. Would probably get my vote for worst as well.
I feel like Shiinotic is something that's going to be more interesting in the anime and other media. It's kind of got a creepy alien in the woods vibe going for it, especially with the Pokedex entries about its glow, but you never really see anything showcasing it in the games.
Anyway the actual answer is Turtonator. It's a terrible Pokemon with a terrible design. Zero redeeming factors.
I don't like the design (especially since he's constantly turned around and looking backwards, manages to look worse in game). I could see people liking it though, and the typing is really cool.
How can you guys tell what are good stats and bad?
How do you determine what moves can be bred, and how does the egg move get selected?
How do you know which nature to aim for in a Pokémon?
On the pokedex pages on
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-sm/, the bottom of the page has base stats. Use those for general comparisons between pokemon. Generally and very roughly, 80-100 is ok-ish, 100-120 is worthwhile, 130 is great, and over 130 is exceptional.
For in game, stats are a good guideline, but don't matter too much since you can always out level stuff if you want.
For battling with other people, stats matter a lot, but only tell a little piece of the picture. You also have to consider types (resistances and immunities are very important), abilities, and movepool. It's complicated, but you'll basically need pokemon that can either outspeed and 1 or 2 hit KO other pokemon, or take a bunch of hits and stay strong.
Natures go along those lines. Figure out what your most needed stat is, and what stat you can sacrifice. Since stat point investment (EV) is so limited, usually you want to sacrifice one of the attack stats (special or physical), and boost speed, or the other attack stats. Tankier Pokemon often like to boost a defense instead.
Honestly, to get a handle on it, the best thing is probably just to go to
www.smogon.com and read several of the analysis articles in their strategy pokedex. They have detailed articles, and several will probably explain the rationale behind stat spread choices.
