I regret buying Battlefield 1 over Titanfall 2

So your title states you regret buying battlefield yet you say absolutely nothing about it, okay. It's not like they're similar games either. I've no doubt the single player is better because BF never has a good campaign but the multiplayer must have improved drastically since that tech test because I played it and it was completely mediocre.

I haven't bought either of them. I like MP and figured TF2 wouldn't sell much to keep a strong community and every new DICE game just gets more and more "Fischer Price: My First Videogame"-like.

I didn't buy either of them. Played both and just didn't feel they were worth my money. Especially after the TF2 changes.

How long are he campaigns, in both cases?

I'm not into MP and idk if these SP modes are enough
If you aren't into MP, get TF2 without question.

In hard difficulty it took me 5-6 hrs, but it's a very impressive 5-6 hr FPS campaign.

BF1 campaign is cut into about 4 or 5 different stories, of which only 1 of them is interesting. Its basically a MP tutorial.

I got TF2 first, and have logged in over 100 hours now. Got BF1 last week, and now that I'm getting the hang of it, I'm enjoying myself there too.

So yeah, I like both. They give different experiences, and I expect I'll be switching between the two over the next couple of months.

I agree. I feel abit baited. :D

I'm maybe 3 hours into the SP and it looks stunning and controls so on point, that i'm sure that i'm going to play it on the hardest level again. Really a joy. You can see shooter dev veterans at work.

Not interested in MP since BF1 is my MP shooter and i know that i won't like the wall/run/doublejump/glide/twitchy stuff and the weapons (lack of recoil) in this one.

Hope there are going to do more.

Campaign in BF1? ... let's not speak about that... and i say that as someone who played/plays all CoD and BF campaigns.

This post is full of shit because BF3/BF4 rush modes were complete garbage to the BC2 Rush which was superior due to maps being designed FOR Rush, not being adapted from large CQ maps.
So far in my limited hours of BF1, I've felt that I do not want to play Conquest/Operations simply because what these modes easily devolve to is a tug-of-war where the meatgrinder effect happens on a relatively small conflict area.
Domination is still pretty ok in BF1, although BF3 Close Quarters and later expansions with Domination maps felt superior in map design.

Personally I think Bounty Hunt is amazing but personal preferences.
Other than that, all your criticisms of Titanfall 2 can directly fit onto BF1 so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What does Titanfall 2 do that's spectacular? It lacks the scale, the production quality and variety. It's extremely derivative. They might have started the wall-running trend but in the end it's just a CoD clone.
And did you even read my post or is this just your knee-jerk reaction? My criticisms with Titanfall 2 don't even align with BF1, so I guess this exchange is just a waste of time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's always been "bullshit rains from the sky and you can't do shit" the video game and the addition of behemoths don't help in that case.

I am enjoying BF1, but yeah, that kind of sums up my biggest gripe with the series. Also, lots of getting killed on spawn, long loading times and rubber band lag from out of nowhere. I still enjoy it for what it is and the big battle feel, but I just can't pull myself away from how quick and easy it is to get into matches, along with the the incredible feel and fun of TF2. Nothing else like it.

BF1 is the worst battlefield game since I dunno, BC1? (Not including hard-line since it was different developers). It's such a massive step down from BF4 in every aspect apart from graphics. The games keep getting shallower and shallower.

I can go back to BF3/4 right now and those games control better and feel better to play. The guns are so shit to shoot in BF1 that there's just no fun.

Theres less unlocks, that doesnt make the gameplay the worst its ever been. The gameplay is the best its ever been.

TF is COD with giant robots. Please.

I have both. I played the first level of TF2 but stopped because I found the film grain effect extremely distracting. I read they were coming out with an option to turn it off so I am going to wait. BF1 is fine. I enjoyed the war stories and MP is what I expected.

This post is so full of shit. BC2 Rush was garbage. You could have people lobbing explosives or tanks bombarding a building with the objective. Building collapses, objective is dead. Or, someone on your own team could grief by putting all their C4 onto the objective you are trying to defend and cause damage to it that way. It was a fucking mess of a game.

If you want to talk about something real, as someone who has actually followed the series for a long time, talk about the loss of the commander role. Talk about BF2 and how classes actually made a difference in that game. Taking out command centers and AA. There was a meta RTS going on in BF2 that most people didn't understand or even care to. So for the most part you were playing with people that didn't even grasp the flow of battle because it wasn't spelled out for them. It was a steep learning curve. Now, that is something I appreciate, the nuances of the older games, but it made for a shitty experience for anyone that could not get a hold of that.
And guess what? When your team doesn't understand that, you will have a shitty time too.

BF1 isn't perfect. But it 's doing a much better job of limiting the bullshit involved with the other games. The systems in place now make for a level playing field. The only thing holding you back now is your own skill and situational awareness. You still have to learn the maps and know the strengths and weaknesses of your class. Every game is extremely dynamic. "Battlefield moments" are in full effect.

Titanfall 2 falls flat. The mechanics in place don't stay fun for long. The best game type doesn't even involve Titans. There is a harmony in the mechanics missing in this game that Titanfall 1 had. The guns never felt really good though in either title. Another thing it lacks is that production quality. Everything is so stale. The environment doesn't change in the course of battle. Nothing feels like there is any life to it. No physics. Sure, you get explosions and jumping onto mechs but it's all very stiff. Even when you are in a large open map, it feels like you are inside. Titanfall 2 feels restrictive.
Wow, hmm okay. Everything you said about BC2 was the sandbox, that's what made it fun. Flattening entire levels, no safe place to camp. Also that's exactly why I mention BF2 specifically, what are you on about? Many of the command mechanics have been lost that specifically why I mentioned it. How you can argue titanfall is restrictive when BF1 is most restrictive BF to date is beyond me. Calm down before you have an aneurysm. I didn't say your opinion was shit or stupid, help me understand how you think BF1 is less restrictive so we can "talk about something real".

They are different play styles. Honestly I bought both and thought I was going to be overwhelmed but I have enjoyed both.

I prefer the more slow paced strategic gameplay of BF1 MP, but TF2 has a superior campaign and great MP too in its own right.

I'll keep enjoying both.

And to this day I still don't get the Titanfall hype. Played it on PC and its very much COD with mechs. Cool I guess.

Sorry you wasted your money.

See this is where the miss conception is. This thread is not supposed to be BF vs TF. It's TF2 VS BF1 and I'll take TF2 over BF1 any day of the week. However, if I want my BF fix I'll go back to BF4 because it's a better game than BF1. I love BF but BF1 was my second biggest let down all year.

I feel like everyone who says its like cod doesnt play tf like it should be, in air and on walls most of the time.

I prefer Titanfall 2 by a country mile but Battlefield 1 is really different as a game other than both being first person shooters.

The thing that hopefully developers adopt and focus more on is the controls, Titanfall 2 controls are just perfect, no other shooter feels as good to play, you can feel every bullet, the precision of aiming is soo good and the parkour is just amazingly done.

My big concern is seeing the effort that Respawn did and not being rewarded for it, hopefully there will be a Titanfall 3 because i'm a huge fan !

CoD doesn't feel as tight, TF controls and feel are superior.

Yup, you need to have different mindset for TF. I think that's one of the reasons I was doing so well in that game, a lot of people were playing it like it was CoD.

You clearly havent played AW or BO3. Its constant jumping around and shooting. Constant.

Jumping around, shooting, sure, but at the same time? Not that often. And yes I played both to prestige (I think? Maybe not with Blops3). The gunplay mechanics of CoD punish you for shooting in the air and not ADSing, the movement mechanics is just on the surface. You use them to position yourself, while in Titanfall you can engage, disengage while pulling all kinds of movement tricks. You clearly haven't played Titanfall, especially 2 which has better gunplay than 1. The majority of automatic weapons, especially the SMGs in Tf2 do not have a hipfire penalty, which means you can freely shoot when you are in the air, wallrunning and sliding without having to ADS.

1) Titanfall 2 has the better campaign

2) Titanfall 2 will be getting free DLC whereas Battlefield 1 has a season pass.

You need to take into account launch content mind. I believe there was murmurings that TF held back content in order to 'release' free DLC...kinda like a publicity stunt.

It's also getting free weapons and modes. And I would bet my bottom dollar that many of these season passes on other games have some held back content as well. And yet they charge nearly the price of a full game for it. But here, it's all free no matter how you slice it.

Battlefield 1 reuses maps and assets significantly more than Titanfall 2. Hell some of the levels in the BF1 campaign are exactly the same as the multiplayer maps.

I'm currently playing Titanfall 2 and holy shit does playing this game feel good. Jeff Gerstmann was right. The movement and aiming are super fluid and precise, and the feedback from shooting enemies is fantastic. There's a punch to every bullet that hits the enemy. And the wall running... damn. It's amazing.

I'm in the campaign; I haven't touched the multiplayer yet. I intend on finishing the story first, as I have rented the game. I keep hearing how the campaign is fantastic, so I look forward to completing it.

Man... it's great. Respawn totally hit it out of the park with this game.

Welcome to the Titanfall 2 is GOAT fanclub

but really yea it clowns so many other FPS to come out recently (Many would argue DOOM but I feel TF2 is slightly better).

if it doesn't get a sequel I blame EA and their moronic release schedule

Yep, same.

Bought BF1 at full price, played it for a bit before promptly dropping it.
A month later I bought a discounted TF2 without expecting anything and I was blown away.
