Fitness |OT9|...You looked better before

After talking to my coach, he agrees that its time to bulk. What are some foods that wont make me looks like the Michelin Man and get me to 3500 calories?
Recently transitioned to bulking myself; I kept my meals the same as when I'm cutting but added on more carbs (like mdsfx suggested). I try to get at least some of the carbs from "good" foods (ie: vegetables, salads, baby carrots with greek yogurt dressing to dip them into) but it's not really practical to get all of my carbs that way, so I usually end my night with a bowl of cereal or greek yogurt mixed with granola and berries. I'm only aiming for ~2400 calories on my lifting days at the moment so I suspect you're also gonna have to hit up some not-satiating foods to hit 3500 calories. Be mindful of your fiber, too, since that will contribute to bloat.

I totally thought I sharted today while on my working set on squats. I was in the hole and left out a fartt that felt like a shit. So I got up trying to figure out if ooo came out or not without trying to feel my butthole for clumps lmao

Hit 340x5 on deadlift today, felt super good. I'd only slept 4 hours, but being fully keto adapted right now, I have the energy of a meth addict. I think I could run through a wall at will right now.

Yay, I finally squatted 60 KG today. 10 KG more and I can lift my own weight.

Also, I tried to do deadlifts and failed. The coach looked so disappointed in me....

I didn't need to read this...

Damn, I love watching these vids. Awesome work. That bar bending as you prime yourself for the deadlift is sick.

After my employer closed our gym, I didn't skip a beat. I'm now signed up at LA Fitness near my work, LifeStart Fitness halfway on my commute, and Anytime Fitness just a few blocks from home. At the Anytime now and it's pretty decent for being a small place! Squat rack, free weights, cardio, etc, etc.

Also it's freezing balls outside. Might have to go for a run!

That 625 Dead was so clean and fast, you definitely had more in you. Amazing lifts man.

It looked like it. But at that point I was spent. Plus I tore my thumb.

Pure awesomeness!!

Nicely done. They all looked great

Ordered a tub of mass gainer shit because it'll be super hard to hit macros at my gf's house over christmas lol... Will stealthily drink it in the bathroom because I don't want to deal with the questions of this sort of neurotic plan.

Isn't it generally stupid easy to get whatever you need at this time of the year? There's usually shitloads of meat and nuts if nothing else.

My main worry will be utterly destroying my cut progress (because even though I'm on a cut, I'm still going to be having those delicious things I like).

I don't eat meat and my gf's family are biiiiig meat eaters.

Side note, and I'm geeking out over it. Dave Tate liked my Facebook post from the meet.

Also had my kilo conversions off. I was 446 squat, 370lb bench 628lb deadlift.

Daaaamn, Brolic. That deadlift was amazing. Didn't even look tough for you, either.

Hello Fitgaf,
I´ve been feeling a bit of a stretching feeling (no pain, more like soreness/numbness) in my left hip, especially when I, for example, raise my knee high towards my stomach, and I´d be much obliged for any input on my condition. Background story: last year I had minor problems with my meniscus (a small crack) and lower left back (old gymsins aka bad form). I was at an orthopedic specialist told me I was about 2 cm longer on my right side and who did some ninja moves on my neck and back and helped me. I´ve been trying to build strength in my hips but the feeling just doesn´t seem to wanna go away. Any thoughts.
Thanks in advance.

My goals for 2016
Squat: 400 lbs (295 now)
Deadlift: 500 lbs (365 now)
Overhead Press: 180 lbs (145 now)
Bench: 300 lbs (220 now)
Weight Goal: lean but I'd like to be at around 180lbs. (I'm 203 now at about 20% body fat @ 5'11") more concerns about fat percentage than weight.

I'd also like to be able to do way more Pull ups.

Let's see how I did

Squat: 370
Deadlift: 420
Overhead Press: 170
Bench: 285

Weight 192 at 17%

I started lifting less so my number didn't go up as much. I started taking martial arts classes.

Squatted a total of 26 reps (5,5,4,4,4,4) with 127.5kg yesterday (high bar squat)

Being a tall guy wih long legs trully holds you back when it comes to squatting :(
Drop the weight and go deeper, IMO. You are barely touching parallel. I'm no pro but that's not deep enough, IMO. It's probably also more dangerous for your knees to stop at parallel, too. Go deep.

I'm 6'3" and go as deep as physically possible. Quads are on my chest and hams are on my calves. Basically I look like an accordion at the bottom, despite taking a closer stance than most at my height. That's with a bad back and hip issues, too. Knees feel great, tho.

This is me at the bottom, high bar:

Also, I like pausing, myself. Not long but just enough to try to get rid of the insta-up. If i don't pause and just reverse direction my back says NO and I drop the weight.

MAKE FUN OF MY CALVES ALL YOU WANT, FUCKERS. I'M OVER THEM.

Hey fit-gaf, I've been having some trouble with my hips when squatting recently. My hip joints just feel like they're locked in, so it hurts at the hips even attempting to go squat down. Anyone ever experience this? Not sure if it's more a strength issue or if I need to stretch more. I've been squatting for a while, but it hasn't happened to consistently to me before. Ruining my leg days.

My left hip has snap/rubberbanding (I forget the medical term) on the outside when I go down on squats. What helped me was to narrow my stance, knees forward. I basically aim for my nipples with my knees and go low, keeping my knees following the path my feet point. That stopped my issue.

I just really adjust my toes out more than usual and it alleviate my hip issue. But that may not be for everyone.

just because i didn't really put my 2017 gym goals i'll type it now and will type around NYE

but i want to compete in my first powerlifting meet. gonna try to go watch at least one local one to see how it is.

but my goals

Squat - 425 lbs (Currently 380 lbs)
Bench - 225 lbs (Currenltly 170 lbs)
Deadlift - 450 lbs (Currently 410 lbs)

those seem doable... lol

Just started incorporating front squats i to my program. Still getting used to them and my wrist flexibility isn't the best but I'm getting there. Do you do both front and traditional squats in the same workout?

probably would just feel redundant for me as i high bar squat. my quad would kill me if i tried lol.

All 3 squat racks were taken this morning because I was running late. I asked a rather monstrous guy how many sets he had left. He told me two sets and that it would take about 10 minutes. I said "thanks, no rush."

I went to the cardio area and hopped on a bike. 10 minutes later this guy hunts me down to tell me it's all mine, having left the plates on so no one would take it, and offers to swap plates around for me.

Is this the inverse of what a public gym experience should be like? Lol

sounds like a keeper. i actually did the same the other day where i went looking for the guy who wanted the squat rack.

Just got a gym membership.

Been 3 years since I actively went and worked out.

My whole body needs work.

Started on the bench with 135 lbs. Did 3 sets of 12.

Then I did some curls. 3 sets of 30 lb dumb bells, 12 reps.

Then I ran on the treadmill for 10 minutes before calling it a day.

My chest is a little sore. Figured that much.

I'd love to get back in reasonable shape. I know I need to change my diet around first and foremost. That's the hardest part. This gut has got to go!

I figure I need to add some form of squat and ab workout into my routine. I should get some back in there too.

I would focus less on trying to throw exercises at yourself and follow a dedicated program for progression. I would suggest Starting Strength. Follow it along with a good meal plan and you'll be good to go for a long while before working on more intermediate routines which include more accessories.
