Was dialogue in the original Nier like this? From what everyone has been saying, the writing and story were really good in that game.
Give yourself an impression, slight spoilers of course

What Im seeing is they want more depth on the combat and I disagree with that, I want more depth on the other parts of the game, combat already is miles better than the first.
Curiosity? It's a free demo that took a few min of my time, no big. I wanted to keep an open-mind, and I never played the original Nier and I know it's a big cult hit so maybe its DNA would have made it a better game, IDK.It's all of the above lol
Well sheesh dude, if you don't even like Platinum games, why'd you play the demo lol
Which they will ruin by stupid over-the-top scripted sequences and hammy dialogue. No thanks. Not everything can be Ys tier boss fightsThis game will have Ys tier boss fghts
What does deep combat mean in this context, anyway?
Holy fucking shit!

Like a huge strings of combos, and aereal super comboes DMC or Bayonetta style.
Combat as it is right now serves very well the type of game the first Nier was.
The only romances of his i can think of are
Drakengard 1 Spoiler
Caim + Furiae
An incestious relationship between brother and sister, ending with her suicide
Nier Spoiler
Nier + Kaine
Happens basically five minutes before she mutates into a monster and Nier is forced to either kill her to delete himself off of the world.
Kimi Shi ni Tamau Koto Nakare Spoiler
Child Soldier + Child Prositute (forgot the names)
He thinks they care about each other while hes actually only doing it for the business or something, the manga so far ain't really good so i don't bother remembering the details
Was thinking of GoW's transition. So a spin on the last of us? :3
The game sounds deep enough, then. Maybe not so much huge combos, but there's plenty of ways to be creative in the demo alone, and that's just with two weapons. I've never played DMC, Bayonetta, or the original Nier, so I guess I can't make any comparisons. I mean, there's definitely animation canceling and probably other weird tech that's still waiting to be found. What more does a person want again?
"How can someone with such a big, smart brain get hypnotized like a little bitch? Huh? Oh, Shadowlord! I love you, Shadowlord! Come over here and give Weiss a big sloppy kiss, Shadowlord! " Voiced by Laura Bailey btw.Yeah I agree to some extent, some of the writing seemed like it came out of some corny, bad anime ("Just die already!").

I think the best little secret is the one that is actually hidden within another. The red crane pathway, which you reach from jumping toward the camera during that one relatively lenghty 2d section at the point where the railing has been damaged, has a little bonus to it. Dropping straight down instead of jumping to the crane leads to an isolated ledge with a chest on it.Anyone else find the little secrets and shortcuts you can unlock? There is some subtle off-camera stuff when in fixed camera modes.
Dayum. That is, indeed, smooth as fuck.https://youtu.be/uI9EKpDdgcw
Describing quality platinum gameplay in 4 seconds, smooth as fuck.

+ GAF romance with PG.
If it wasn't for GAF, I would have never bought the first game based on reviews.
Oh nice! Yeah I found the crane one but I missed that. Thanks for the tip.
This right here.TBH, while Platinum gets associated with deep, responsive, complex combat systems, I think they also recognize that more complexity doesn't make for an objectively better game. Bayonetta (Platinum's flagship title) is already way more accessible than its spiritual predecessor (DMC), and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.
With Nier, I think they realized that:
A. the game has RPG components, which adds strategic depth and gameplay variety
B. the "bullet hell" portions don't need deep mechanics to facilitate fun, satisfying, skill-rewarding gameplay (just like real bullet hell games, which largely consist of just movement and shooting)
C. Ultimately, it's a Nier game that should appeal to Nier fans. Piling on Platinum-style gameplay systems would defeat that
So yeah. It isn't Bayonetta, and it definitely isn't DMC, but if the game's fun and satisfying then that's fine by me.
That's in a love/hate phase right now due to Korra, TMNT and Starfox Zero, but hopefully the passion can be rekindled.
Plenty of us are wondering whether it is only a glorious shmuck-bait or will it actually have a purpose like being a prequisite of reaching a certain ending by doing it at the right juncture. Also I couldn't help but laugh when I tried ripping out my OS Chip. That's some attention to detail right there.
Im happy with pro purchase for exterminating jaggies alone, that was worth purchase for me.
Lol, "Im not a combat manual"

I honestly wouldnt blame SF0 on them seeing as how they made a perfectly fine starfox level in Bayonetta 2. Im surprised 0 wasnt a carbon copy to be honest
Probably doing a second run today with changed controls. Im fine with default but it was hard to combo while shooting and evading at the same time
Damn right.I don't know. We're talking about the Master Troll that is Yoko Taro here.
