Someone Made a Beautiful, Yet Terrifying Analog Synth soundtrack of NES Metroid

I've been listening to it everday since it was released. I usually am not the kind of person that cares for fan versions of game music but this is really cool.

He's definitely seen it now:

Not even ashamed of the bump. This could go for some more exposure anyway.

He actually liked 3 tweets at him about it (Jose Otero, Jeff Katz & you)

So pretty sure he listened to the whole set.

Stealing music from Nintendo and using it to profit off a Youtube channel?
Absolutely disgusting.

Sounds good. Makes me wish hopefully Nintendo will give us a proper new Metroid game announcement soon.

I only listened to the Zelda II synth.
The Metroid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't think of a best synth for Metroid.
It captures everything about the game, the eery feeling and weird alien vibe.
It's a masterpiece, I want that in my Metroid!

Wow they did a great job! Nice and atmospheric. The new sound design of the synths does justice to the original vision of each tone. Thanks for sharing this with us.

That was pretty cool. OP you should check out some stuff from Blood Music if you dig that type of music. Horror synth is a thing, and it's fucking rad. I recommend Perturbator as something of a gateway.
Yes Hotline Miami got me into the genre

Pretty much the same for me. Hotline Miami and Blood Dragon both got me into...whatever genre this stuff gets classified as.

Right? Like it's an awesome form of music but there's too many different genre titles for it. Retrowave, synth core, new retro. 80's scifi/horror inspired synth is far too long a genre title but it's really the only way to accurately convey what the hell it is. Great shit though.

That's hauntingly beautiful. I really want to go back and play Metroid now. That's an excellent find.

Thanks so much OP, it's all good but the intro is the winner for me. Haunting and beautiful at the same time, closing my eyes as I listened took me right into an Aliens-esque 70's/80's movie scene.

So earlier I just commented on how beautiful it sounded, now I want to know how. What is this synthesizer doing that a regular keyboard can't do? Don't know if I'm asking the question right. I was actually looking to pick up a keyboard after the holidays to tinker with but can only certain keyboards make this sound?

This is outstanding. I'm imagining a new first person series like Prime with a dark 70s retro-futuristic art style to match this sound and drooling.

Nice! First 30 seconds of the title theme is probably the highlight, for me.
The Mother Brain encounter music is MENACING...

Got me thinking about the game Ghost Song which seems to be quite inspired by metroid. The soundtrack titles they've released so far is really great and work with the very isolated atmosphere it seems to be going for.

My favourite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoqtEHXvLpI

Speaking of menacing! 0:20 to 0:35 in that Ghost Song track is intense (and 0:50 to 1:05 a nice contrast).
