Huh, in this one the old man has slightly different dialogue and a different camera when you talk to him. It also looks like the Wii U demo had more a few more HUD elements pop up earlier? They both had tree branches but only the Wii U one had a D Pad image in the top corner.

Isn't one from E3 and the other from today/yesterday? Could just be a change in dialogue that happened later.

If you press L on the items screen, you get to the Adventure Log which has a section called "Forgotten Memories. They seem to be small video clips? I wonder if they're unlocked by the Spirit Orbs.

Realized earlier that Zelda's look reminded me of Daenerys. Maybe it's just the blonde hair and brows and all that though, lol.

Interesting, I think in the demo the Spirit Orbs were said to be traded for items like the paraglider? Unlocking memories also makes sense, I hope all the flashbacks are playable events.

It's definitely not after Wind Waker. Zoras became Ritos in Wind Waker and Hyrule was completely wiped away. Zelda settled a New Hyrule in a different land.

It's looking like between OoT and ALttP. Either Link is the Hero of Time or a hero after the Hero of Time. Great Deku Tree and all of the OoT races are around. There are places from Skyward Sword in this game. Temple of Time is in decent shape.
Isn't there no deku tree in any timeline except Wind Waker since only the adult timeline has the newborn Deku Tree?

Maybe its before Ocarina of Time but after Skyward Sword. Since if there isn't any character creation, which I guess its not at this point then I'll really be pissed if they made Link right handed since the only canon right handed Link is Skyword Sword. So I feel like it should be SS Link. That controller explanation at E3 makes no sense when Link's always been left handed. (not to mention its...handist?)

My previous theory is that it has to be a hidden character creator that you create at the begining as Zelda chooses the best hero after Link dies, making whatever you choose canon including a girl option, but you aren't playing as Link since he is dead, just the next best thing and it takes 100 years to artificially infuse you with the Triforce of Courage. Its out there, but it feels like theres a hidden thing to do with a character creator. The...bad comments about gender at E3 still come off as fake as Anouma never seemed that sexist especially considering how many strong girl characters in the series. It just feels like he's hiding a character creator since it would spoil that you aren't playing as Link. Can you imagine the opening cutscene with Link dying and you choosing a replacement?

If there is no character creator and its not Skyward Sword Link then I'll really feel like I'm tripping or something. Let left handed people have Link jeez.

Also yes I'm replying to a post 20 pages old. Just popped onto that page when I clicked read newest posts XD.

^ I do think the presence of right-handed Link in a non motion-control swordplay game is strange, considering how consistent they've been with left-handed Link otherwise. I don't think it's SS Link since that would predate OoT, Ganon's origin story, and the Calamity Ganon looks like his most mindless and degraded state.

I'm still of the mind that this takes place in the Downfall Timeline after Adventure of Link, where they can establish a bunch of species, locales and story details since those weren't really fleshed out in the NES series.

Not only that, the enemy weapons have been rebalanced slightly it seems. The blue bokoblins no longer use the Soldier Broadswords but instead use reinforced Boko Clubs (which largely achieve the same effect but they can be burned and likely have lower durability).

I'm sure this has been done before in other games, but indicating which dialogue option is hotlinked to the B button is a really nice touch

Don't know if posted yet, but I guess BOTW takes up 40% of the Switch's storage if you are going to go digital. BOTW is 13.4 GB.

https://youtu.be/TEOP94uagtc

Edit: Had no idea the console only had 32Gb of internal storage. At least microSD cards are cheap..

Probably more than 40% since a big chunk of that 32GB will probably be filled by the built-in software and OS

Huh. Just noticed the master sword's resting place is in front of the Deku tree in this trailer. Looks like there are lots of details to pick apart here. Has anyone discussed what the ally person/creature is on the far right of Link at 2:46? Looks like it has tusks, so I don't recognize it.

GameExplain video on this should be fun.

If I remember correctly they were also pretty firm about how they'd serve a different purpose in the final game.

Hopefully with there being 100 or so shrines, the orbs will be quite useful to the story + upgrading runes/items.

Lmao, been watching reaction vids of the new trailer all night, the instant facial changes at the Zelda-crying scene are hilarious.

That's the one thing I think we can rule out. If Ganon exists then it has to be after OoT. OoT is Ganondorf's origin story after all. Also we've already seen the Temple of Time
which was build over the Temple of Hylia between Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time

With that said they seemed to have retconned the Goddess Hylia into this world's environment and lore. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Fi was briefly mentioned. *shudders*

So are the giant "colossi" (the flying bird ship, the crawler on death mountain, the desert camel) meant to be bosses... or like, do you actually go inside them, and they ARE the dungeons.

Amazing! I feel there is a part in the trailer where it shows link inside the crawling colossus on Death Mountain. The addition of an elephant and camel. Super pumped!!!

Oh wow your right I feel dumb. I need more sleep.

Still think its the Wind Waker timeline, but if it is it would have to be far after Spirit Tracks since it would've had the ocean dry up first which would mean its likely not a previous Link. The placing in the timeline is hard to pinpoint and I love it. So mysterious!

One of the best trailers that I've seen in quite some time and probably the best Zelda trailer in my opinion. It did a great job of introducing us to the world that we will be exploring and it gave a sense of there being emotional weight to the story with all the various scenes of Zelda. The game feels as if the journey will matter and can make us players care about the outcome.

I haven't played a Zelda game since Majora's Mask but this game will be the one to change that.

It can't be after spirit tracks since the original Hyrule and Ganon along with it were permanently sunken due to the wish at the end of the game. Spirit tracks Hyrule is a completely different land than the original hyrule

I think the Wind Waker connections are pretty strong, but with the Temple of Time, Hyrule Castle Town, and other elements, I don't think the adult timeline is where BotW falls. I'm still leaning towards it being the bridge between OoT and LttP, fleshing out the 'fallen hero' timeline beyond just a jumbling of the earlier 2D installments.

- The Master Sword being referred to as 'The Master Sword of Resurrection', and the presence of a 'Resurrection Chamber' is pretty telling. It would properly explain how a Hero is brought back after being defeated.

- The Deku Tree being present is still possible WITHOUT it being in Wind Waker's timeline. Technically, the 'Fallen Hero Timeline' represents everything that happened in the Adult Timeline, just that the end result is different: Link loses during the final battle on top of Ganon's Tower. This means the Hero of Time would have still purified the Forest Temple, the Deku Sprout would have still emerged, and grown into a new Deku Tree. The Deku Tree recognizing Link, but not vice versa, would mean this would have to be the Hero of Time in BotW.

- For the same reasons listed above, Koroks being involved doesn't necessarily mean it's automatically in Wind Waker's timeline either. After Link's defeat, there would still have been plenty of time for the Kokori to evolve into Koroks, and it's never specifically stated that the reason for their change was due to the Great Sea, merely that they 'gave up their human forms in favor of flight'.

That means this would put this either during, or maybe after, the Imprisoning War (or Sealing War), centuries before A Link to the Past.

OR I'm completely wrong, and they really are making this a pre-Great Flood game between OoT and WW, which would have to have the most depressing ending ever.

I just noticed that there are a few scenes in the trailer where Link definitely has the Master Sword, notably when he's all dirty. I wonder how early you will get it and how it ties in with being able to use multiple weapons.

I'm also surprised they've held off so long on showing him in the green tunic. That might be something you only get at the very end.

I have been too and it really underscores how much of a female fanbase Zelda has. Reaction videos are normally pretty much all guys, but there are a large number of women doing them for Zelda.

Ok - looks like Ganon turns the Guardians against the kingdom and they start demolishing everything. Link is protecting Zelda, making an embattled retreat/escape from the city ("Save my daughter"). Zelda obviously breaking down at the sight of her kingdom being demolished and the defenses she helped put together being used against them ("All I've worked for..."). Link is fighting the onslaught and is killed while protecting Zelda (battered Link w/ damaged Master Sword), allowing her to escape and/or set up the barrier.

Dirty clothes Zelda is from cutscenes of the past during the escape. Zelda in blue tunic is her in the present.

That's my guess. I've been wrong just about every time so far, but I have a good feeling this time!

If this is true, I hope we dont get a cutscene that ends right as link dies and never tells us how the hell Zelda gets out of the danger anyways.

In Fire Emblem Awakening there is a flashback where Lucina faces the final boss, a giant dragon and its clear that the dragon was going to kill her on the spot (and she is screaming). No answer how she got out of that one.

I've been watching this trailer almost non stop. From the moment Link embraces Zelda, its just hype thrusters on max, no matter how many times I watch it.

Yeah, that was answered in the Drama tapes for FE:A. Gerome, Cynthia and Severa save her ass at the last second. So yeah, she should have died.

I don't think we'll have that issue with this game though.

On a side note, we have a new bench mark for horses in videogames. BoTW is probably now the Standard to live up to.

Seems that NPCs will have sort-of schedules.

In this Gamespot video you see Beedle arriving at the Stable:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXevIUDR33Q

And on the gamexplain video Beedle is already settled there.

I remember another video where I saw him walking away to another location. I think that was in the video Gamexplain deleted.

Nope, the eng dub just wasn't as good, lacking emotion in the VA, this isn't some weeb shit you're trying to spin as. All the other dubs were better. Thank god for non region lock, will at import the spanish dub.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7YVjEpR7jg&ab_channel=MotionBlur

and you're saying it like it's objective. I've listened to the dubs, including the spanish dub which I'm also fluent in, and at no point did I think one is far and above the best or the worst.

All this means is that the english/japanese dub won't be the better ones automatically.

And with how much shit people were going over the Japanese dub of FFXV being better, the english dub gave me 'a new recip-uuuuuh" so I'll take that instead.

I actually really enjoy the English voice acting for the Deku Tree, it's just as I'd imagined the one from OoT and TWW to speak.

Well obviously opinion and all. Will import though. Personally just not a fan of stilted acting like what was shown.
