IGN: In-depth Switch walkthrough from Nintendo

Does anyone know if you can use the Switch as a tablet only (via touch) without the Joy-Cons attached / paired? Seems like it would be less bulky if some games supported that.

I have yet to find this detailed anywhere.

We've not see any touch games yet, but I guess it will be possible.

I don't think any of the games have been shown doing that. Maybe if the thing has a web browser, it could work like that.

It really is a beautiful piece of tech. Nothing to compare with Wii U's Gamepad made in collaboration with Playskool. Heavy, bulky and simply not good looking. Remember the rattle buttons everytime you shake the gamepad controversy when it launched? Bad times...

20 hours battery life per joycon. It must be pretty high in that charger/controller/holder thing then, 20 hours of self-powered battery per side plus the big battery in the middle. Potentially Wii U Pro controller range?

No sure where you ordered from but gamestop told me to call back to switch to the neon set once they figured out the error with their system not ringing it up.

Amazon. I can only cancel and order the other version, but both are sold out. Maybe it'll be available again.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Giant Bomb guys tried touching the screens and nothing reacted.

I still have one question that I can not seem to find the answer to, is the joycon grip that comes bundled with the console the charging grip?

I wouldn't expect a game to be released that depends on touch controls anytime soon. They are completely unavailable in TV mode, and N's marketing push is that all games can be played either way. If they were willing to compromise on that at all we'd have seen a Mario Maker port.

Didn't they say something like there's a touch-screen but they are not comitted to it or something? I suppose it has to do that it'd force games to not be playable on TV mode. Like there should be an alternative.

We saw the vent up top before, but I don't think we saw the heatsink itself this clearly

If I can't use it for a touchscreen inventory in Zelda when playing in portable mode, as Wii U players using off screen mode will almost certainly be able to, that's going to really piss me off. Touch screen inventories are great.

Nice having a 20 hour battery configuration outta the box compared to the Wii U gamepad's pitiful battery, even if it's only for the joy-cons without the screen.

That charging grip does not have a battery

So, I don't see any reason why the USB-C cable plugged directly into the Switch shouldn't have the same performance boost as being plugged into the dock. Can anyone confirm this? I'm planning on playing in handheld mode 90% of the time, so that'd be pretty great.

This things dresign is pretty incredible.

It only does everything trully applies to this. To bad that slogan is taken. Lol.

There's no mention of being able to use older wii/u accessories right? I don't want to buy an extra set of joycons AND a pro controller :|

Haw are the joy cons charged? When they're connected to the system while it's charging?

Yes, or with the (extra cost) "charge grip". The grip that comes with the system can't be used to charge the joy-cons.

I'm sure a 3rd party will come out with a charging accessory though.

Oh shit. I didn't know the dock has a form of cable management inside. Nice way to keep all the cables together and not a random assortment coming out of different sides.

This thing has some serious quality to it. I'm personally very excited.

Good video, thanks for sharing.

Does anyone know if the Switch will support Bluetooth Headphones? It's 2017 and probably not worth mentioning anymore since it’s so ubiquitous, but I just want to make sure since this is a Nintendo product :p

If only they could have gotten the price right. That piece of bad news really soured a lot of people when the system itself looks great. I don't think it's like the Wii U where the hardware concept was flawed and the price was too steep, here it's really the price. I wish they could do an Xbone before launch as that reversal saved it, but it's too close to launch to revise pricing.

source to reports? Some are saying pro controller has analogue triggers apparently.
ImpressionS from Giant Bomb and other hands on reports. Not saying they are right, but they talk about the feel of them being clicky.

Charge Grip needs to be plugged in to charge as it doesn't have a battery.

I edited my post but yeah I saw some pictures. They do look clicky =/

Heat from the display, I'd imagine. Maybe they think it's more important for it to be quiet in your hands vs sat over by your TV. I don't know if that is the reason, but that'd be my guess.
