Is this down for anyone else? I was just about to watch the last episode and it just shows Prime instead of the play icon now, as if I don't have a Prime sub.

Hmm. Now all episodes are listed as Not available. Other Prime shows work fine, though. Hope it's just temporary.

I think they're on their way for a summer 2017 release of the next book, Persepolis Rising iirc it's called. They way they've talked about it at least, unless they'll push it back to space the books out some.

Man i just realized this is coming back soon. Whoever doin the OT need to put like 'syfys actual legit good scifi' show or some shit. If you havent seen the first season its actually pretty great. Very imaginative and the production is very very high. VFX work is some of the best. Hope season 2 does well for them.

The writers of the books are also working on the show, so yes, very faithful. Finish the first book before you watch, though.

I've read through the first three books (especially Caliban's War) multiple times and aside from the general "look" of the Belters (which would require a ton of CG in order to be completely faithful to the books), I'd say it's a great adaptation.

This upcoming season has to up the ante in regards to plot. First season while enjoyable, felt like a big tease of things to come. Now it's time to take that next step towards scifi-stardom. Scifi-veterans that succeeded in a long-term storytelling (Babylon 5, BSG...) are waiting. Join them brothers!

Miller started out the first season really cynical but he changed and evolved as the season went on and now he’d even go the extra mile for Julie. Will that continue?

Thomas Jane: “Yeah. I think Julie really struck a chord in Miller. Miller’s very much the opposite of Julie Mao (played by Florence Faivre). Miller is a survivor; he takes care of himself first and then lets everybody else do their own thing. He’s very Darwinian. And yet Julie Mao is the one who has everything, is in the upper stratosphere of our planetary culture. She’s up there in the top half of one percent and she throws all of that away to dedicate her life to a people she doesn’t know when it’s not even her race. She’s not a Belter, and he’s become fascinated with who is that person? Why would she do that? What does she get out of that? And it turns him around. It really throws a wrench into his plans.

He really had a good system worked out where he could manipulate the system to his advantage. Julie Mao threw a wrench into that and he’s still trying to work out how to either get that out or have to rejigger his world view to accommodate this woman and who she represents to him. I love it. I love this story. I love Miller.”

Why are you such a fan of the genre?

Thomas Jane: “Well, I have a graphic novel company called Raw Studios and we do science fiction graphic novels. We’ve done two and I think we’re working on one more. We’re also doing a gothic horror comic that we’re working on. So, genre has always been a part of my life. I grew up loving all genres, whether it’s Western or science fiction or horror. I’m a big genre fan. I love the traditions. I love the different interpretations and it’s just a nice way to sort of classify or categorize different styles of telling stories. So, I’m always on the lookout for good genre. It’s hard to find and when you find it I tend to try to make the most of it. This is really smart, well thought out, good genre. So for me it’s a perfect fit.”

I just finished book 2. Avasarala is fucking awesome. By comparison, show Avasarala is somewhat disappointing so far. But there's time to fix that.

"The sets they came up with for Season 2 are astounding," Abraham said. "I walked into some of the things that they built for Season 2, and it was like nothing I have ever seen before — it was awesome."

Abraham called out the Tycho space station in particular, which is serving as Outer Planets Alliance headquarters at the start of the second season, as a particularly cool locale that's given a closer look during the upcoming season.
"I think that [Tycho's operations center] is the biggest set we've ever built," Franck added. "It looks like the Kennedy Space Center. You could launch space shuttles in there."

They also mentioned the Martian soldier Bobbi Draper's warship — which Franck told the production team to make look like "a flying threat" — as another striking Season 2 set piece.

Draper herself — whom fans of the book have been very excited to meet — will make her first appearance at the beginning of Season 2, as well.

"Bobbi is awesome, and Frankie [Adams, the actress playing her] is awesome," Abraham said. "I am in a constant struggle not to just be smug about Frankie Adams in this."

I'm nearly finished Leviathan Wakes, and it's made my thirst so much more real for S2, can't wait...this is the season that makes it stand as a titan, I hope!

I haven't read the books, but Avasarala turned out pretty baller near the end of the season and the show kind of set her up as somebody to be reckoned with in the future.

She's much
MUCH
more baller in the books. Her TV version is [so far] quite tame, plus show rating does not allow her to use her... ahem... full vocabulary. :)

I think she's great in the show. Swearing sure is part of her character but I don't think it wasn't enough in the show.

that said, I started reading Babylon's Ashes and I really like it so far.
