I don't know why, but I feel in the last few years Mario's image has went from sweet/loveable to... creepy. I dont know if there was some subtle design change for him that's doing it, but his face and the way they use him now just always comes off as super weird. I noticed it in the Switch video, and its especially present in the box art above. Like maybe his eyes have changed a bit or something.

Like this mario looks so much more likable and nice:

How have you never seen the legend that is Takashi Tezuka, co-creator of all your favorite Mario and Zelda games. Seriously lol. Kimishima had nothing to do with Nintendo in the 80s/90s^^

I'm actually quite baffled that I did not know at all that this book existed, not even the Japanese version. And I've even been looking for Mario art books these past years!

So yeah, this is an instant purchase for me. Thanks for the heads-up OP!

Edit: ah, so literally only Amazon.de is selling it in German right now. Hmm, guess I'll have to wait for Amazon.co.uk to start selling the English version, assuming that this is guaranteed to come as well (as some of you seem to be thinking).

Sorry for double posting but is there any word yet on an English version? Surely they wouldn't translate a book like this into German exclusively and only release it there?

As I said earlier, I've always wanted a good book about Mario containing classic art so I can't wait to be able to buy this in English. Nintendo? Dark Horse? Anyone?

Edit: Amazon.de lists it as being published by Tokyopop, which I believe is a US publisher so either they listed the wrong publisher or Tokyopop is actually releasing this in Europe, which if it's the latter could be a good sign for an English version. That said, I have no familiarity with them really, so feel free to chime in if you do with regards to their track record etc.

Edit 2:
Thanks OP, I didn't even know such a book existed, so I had a look at Amazon UK and they've got it for pre-order, happy days!

Ah, thanks for checking! I checked last week or so but they didn't have it then. I'll pre-order ASAP.

Subbing because this is something I really want to add to my gaming book collection, plz bring to the US. Seems Europe gets all the cooler gaming books.

Tokyopop has a German branch that's still active unlike the US branch.

Fantastic book. I randomly picked it up on a trip to Japan in late 2015 and have looked through it many times. Will grab the English one also.
