Do you want exclusives for Scorpio?

Straightforward question: Do you want exclusives for Scorpio that won't be available on Xbox One or would you rather end console generations and have all future games compatible with existing Xbox One consoles?

As of right now we are under the belief that there won't be exclusives for Scorpio, but do you really want that? Do you think that's the best idea for Xbox fans going forward? Does it make sense financially for Microsoft to do this? etc. There are pros/cons to consider here. You know the music, time to dance.

No and I don't expect them. Scorpio is a mid-generation upgrade of Xbox One, not a next generation console.

I think they'll keep XB1 going until the Scorpio successor comes out, then Scorpio will be in the same shoes as Scorpio II

As it stands right now it doesn't look like they have enough exclusives for the Xbox One let alone the Scorpio.

Pretty much this. To answer the question? Yes I would like Scorpio exclusives but MS wouldn't be dumb enough to fragment the market. After seeing certain games on my Pro on my 4K TV I can't go back to 1080p. The games look noticably crisper and HDR really is a game changer for some games.

An exclusive Scorpio game tailored to take advantage of the hardware would be amazing but it ain't happening.

I don't really care personally but i would find that interesting and amusing if Microsoft surprised everyone with the Scorpio being more a new XBOX with full compatibility with the one, than an upgraded one. Cause they would be like "Hey Sony you thought we were doing the same as you but BAM, next gen is now, what do you do now ??"

This actually sounds like a good idea on paper to blend the generations, but this would bleed my wallet faster as well which isn't something I'd like.

Don't want things that they can't do right now. They can barely manage superfluous, X1 exclusives outside of their core pillars, let alone make something 100% for Scorpio any time soon. Best experience is something they can do and focus on. That should be the appeal, and at some point, games leaving behind X1 and just being PC+Scorpio, is going to be a thing. People will react to it poorly at first, but hopefully not sink the ship before it can sail.

If I'm wrong, cool, go for it.

Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!
I think Microsoft is lying and I expect exclusives (maybe not the first year but soon).

Well, there's no need for them. It's just a graphics bump. No reason any features can't be on both, not like the X1 is weak? Just want the console to be taken advantage of, in a clear and obvious manner.

Worthwhile exclusives are the only way MS will get me to buy a Scorpio near launch, if at all. Would be a stupid move on MS' part though. Basically guaranteeing a console market exit imo if they do that at this point in time.

It's what I'm expecting them to do, also a dev could make a UWP title in 10 years and have it play on the entire Xbox line, for example, if they don't need the horsepower.

Expecting forward compatibility to be more of a every other console thing, transitioning one to the other, and dropping the prior, but doesn't mean games won't still be released that can play on the original.

Absolutely I do, there is no reason not to do it, change the color of the box to distinguish it, who cares, if they want to make games that use the Xbox Sub Zero to its fullest potential, I'll be there day one supporting that. I would support Sony doing that as well.

Not an asshole.
Microsoft would be shooting themselves in the foot by offering Scorpio exclusives. They would be shunning the 26 million people who have been faithful to their system thus far. And any non-MS developer would be foolish to skip that 26mil install-base as well.

This sort of thing only works on ubiquitous platforms like Mobile and PC.

I think the backlash they would get from owners who recently bought XB1 S expecting a long generation would be quite big if Scorpio went Next Gen with exclusives. So I would vote no.

Honestly though, what exactly could they offer, that couldn't be offered on Xbox One/S?
Apart from higher resolution/frame rate.

No, I think it would be a terrible idea.

I really don't see how they would benefit much from doing this. Yes they could focus on making their exclusive games look/run better but the multi-platform games will still target Playstation so they would still be held back there anyways.

Now they did cut off the original Xbox after 4 years but the circumstances were very different then. They were not only coming out a year earlier than the PS3 but the PS3 launched with a number of issues that just aren't a problem for the PS4.

There's no reason for them to do this but I wouldn't worry because I don't believe Microsoft has any intention of doing this.

I do, or at least make a new OS for it.

No chance, it already runs Windows 10. The Xbox shell will continue to evolve of course, but there's no reason to rebuild everything they've worked on. Nor is there any reason to not push future OS updates to the XB1 as well as Scorpio for the foreseeable future.

Only VR stuff like they've said. I can't even imagine how bad it would be on the current xbox one (I doubt it's even possible)

Scorpio should be the target hardware. At some point in the future it should have exclusive software to free it from rendering limitations of the OG Xbox One.

.

Edit: Other than VR, the only thing I'd be okay with is if they did it like the 3DS where only a handful of games NEED a New 3DS XL.
