When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.

My favorite Supernatural episode. In case people are curious, yes it's a repeating day episode.

The concept has been copied so many times with great results. Stargate, Supernatural, Edge of Tomorrow. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

I saw this movie for the first time about three years ago.

I hated it. Hated the protagonist, hated how he got out of the loop, didn't find it funny or insightful or clever or even interesting. Just a frustrating bore.

But I live in a post Groundhog Day world so pop culture has been shaped by the film and will be for eons... blargh

My favorite annual NeoGAF tradition

It used to be mine. Now I find myself wishing to be trapped in an actual Groundhog Day before Trump won the presidency.

Incidentally, my local movie theater is screening Groundhog Day... for FREE... on Thursday night.
I haven't watched this film on the big screen since it was first released.

In Spain the movie is officialy called "Atrapado en el tiempo" (Trapped in time), but the majority of people still call the movie the name El Dia de la Marmota (The Groundhog Day). Strange fuck up by the translators that thought the new spanish name for the movie would work better for marketing that translating the original english name as it is.

Fun fact: Harold Ramis originally suggested that Phil was stuck in the loop for 9-10 years, but later decided it was closer to 30 or 40.

In the original script (which was much darker), it was closer to 10,000 years; Phil tracked time by reading a page of a book each day and had managed to read through the entire public library.
