Anyone found any games with issues yet?

When Cerny said awhile back that the Pro would run non-patched games with no enhancements, he suggested that some games exhibited anomalies with the boost enabled.

I would imagine that 110FPS Rainbow Six Siege thing is one of those anomalies lol

it's gunna be super rare to find and it might be limited to titles already patched

Now I really wish I had signed up for the beta firmware. I'd like to see Rocket League with V-Sync engaged on a Pro with this boost mode on, which I don't recall running all that smooth on my launch PS4.

Also while a smoother Bloodborne experience sounds great, I still really want a higher res patch. This has to happen at some point, right?

Oh shit. Yep I'll be buying a Pro this year. Hopefully they give the game a proper Pro update though to make the most of it. It's great to see Sony doing this stuff. Guess they had it planned all along but knew it might be buggy in some cases, but given fan demand they just decided to give people the option to just go ahead and do it. Fantastic move!

(also that PSVR 3D Bluray playback YASSS!)

I've only tested 2 so far but no problems

dont worry, it doesn't exactly work like that.

if you see the video, it ranges from 70 to 110. if someone is even playing it on a 120hz monitor it would be screen tearing fiercely.

Unless someone had gsync, but I doubt they'd bother playing on a console anyway at that point.

tl;Dr most ppl play on 60hz monitors/TVs so there's still no advantage.

edit:whoops I'm dumb, it's in T-Hunt lol

I doubt the PS4 Pro is gunna output at 120hz regardless of the display.

In fact, I'm certain it won't

It is kind of sloppy programming though, as it puts needless strain on the hardware, ramping up the fan for absolutely no reason.

Well it's not like they expected PS4 players to suddenly have unfettered access to Pro hardware while running their game. This is exactly why there's a warning when you enable Beast Mode. I imagine either Ubisoft will patch in an FPS cap later on, or you'll just have to disable Beast Mode when playing this game.

I'm going to do unspeakably erotic things to my Pro when I get home.

The fact that the Bloodborne developers haven't fixed the framepacing is baffling.

I wonder if the engine they used is to blame.
Anyone know what engine it was created on?
Some in house thing?

Its. In. Terrorist. Hunt.

PVE

There is not an option to disable vsync in PVP, so its capped at 60fps.

Rocket League has the option to disable vsync in PVP, wheres the outcry?

What is Terrorist hunt supposed to run at? 60fps?

If it is only PVE it´s fine then.

Boost Sale incoming after the update drops.

Witches in Chalice still tanks the framerate on beast mode, gonna compare with amateur now.

edit: beast mode def helps there, amateur tanks lower.

It's supposed to but it hovers mostly around 45 FPS with significant tearing in situations (due to the AI).

PVP is locked to 60 FPS and holds that target pretty well on base PS4.

Someone test Boost Mode on Street Fighter V & Overwatch.
  • Street Fighter V: Are the background elements for the OG stages 60fps?
  • Overwatch: Are the Character Select & Highlight Intro animations 60fps?
  • Both: Is gameplay running at 120fps?

This thread is causing me to get no work done. The real test for beast mode is AC Unity. I quit the game due to low performance. It would be awesome if this fixes the issues.

Is it possible Sony have/are including game-by-game specific fixes in their firmware like driver updates on PC?

Yeah, I posted something similar in the thread a few pages back, but I guess that would require some periodic updates in the long run.

Some more oddball titles from me if anyone is interested in performance in lesser played games!

Furi - Better, MUCH less screen tear at the start of the game.

Fallout 4 - Seems locked to 30fps now, aside from occasional hitches which id assume are streaming issues.

Homefront Revolution - Garbage game still, but again, now seems a pretty much locked 30 FPS.

Saints Row 4 - Still not a locked 60FPS unfortunately. Although its undeniably closer. To hazard a guess I'd says its now constantly between 50 and 60. It does spend a fair bit of time of 60FPS however which it didn't before (unless you pointed the camera at the floor or the sky etc)

Grow Home - Still absolute trash performance wise

Vanishing Of Ethan Carter - Now locked 60FPS, even in trouble spots like near the railway line and on the curve near the two houses.
