I still get my hair braided every once in a while, but yeah, it'd be nice to see more options. Cornrows also usually look ugly as hell in games, so I rarely every used them. They should still dusty as an option, though.

Yup, pretty much. That and afros. Other types of black hair are a little harder to pull off effectively without it seeming like just wavy hair.

This is such a weird style to not be proeminently featured in character creation, since it's pretty easy to get the look down and it's not hard to make it look good...

Things are getting better, but there are a few technical limits still.

I think this will stop being an issue when the PS5 is out, similar to how curly styles will also be more plentiful.

Though some of this is definitely just a lack of developers caring to even try.

Well one is just a slider variation of the other. I think GTA: San Andreas was the last one with any real options.

Even GTA V phoned it in in that regard- though to be fair the hairstyles were really limited for all the main characters.

I'm a white male and a huge RPG fan. And I like to make black characters in RPGs alongside my white characters and I am always disappointed by the options. They rarely have hair styles that my real life black friends actually have. So I completely agree, we need more options not less tho. x thanks for bringing it up.

Yea, well at least you get some options. Lots of games exclude races like Asians and Indians (brown skin tones and styles), etc.

It is almost always a bald head or a maple bar. I don't know if I have ever seen a really clean fade in a game.

If the game allows to change hairstyle multiple time, my character will end up having cornrows at some point.
It might not be as common now in USA, but it still looks fine.

Just have far more styles listed. Of all the trends the game industry is following at moment, a better/more detailed Char Creator is one of my favorites ones.


If any, I find the lack of different skin textures, non-weird looking noses/mouths, or decent tattoos and "extras", more appalling.
You will always find the same mild scars (in the nose bride, crossing your eye, crossing your mouth).

Finally, proper fat complexions for everyone!

I feel like choices for a black female are even more limited. Most hair choices just look *strange* with a character with darker skin. It'd be nice to see some natural hair (not the giant afro) or even some decent braids.
