I'm surprised the first we hear about saves being "broken" isn't coming from the scene but a commercial product.

Still, it missed the DOAX3 boat. People fucking paid for an app that automates most of the grinding over remote play, they'd definitely pay $80 to just edit the save and spare them a hundred hours or so.

Eh. As someone who plays games mostly for story/lore/world/immersion, I miss Gameshark/Action Replay so much.

I would never, ever use this for online games, but I would love for them to find a way to bring that stuff back so that it worked offline. Lots of jRPGs I would like to get through that I just don't really have the time to grind through. I used to love putting on max health/strength codes and just enjoying the story through old PS1 RPGs.

they do if you have an endgame modified save. which crosses off all the check marks.
although anyone would know now because all your trophies would have the same picture of obtaining trophies lol

Gamesharks were ram memory patching/editing IIRC. This is just a game save editor

Early ones were. Later ones were mostly game saves on memory cards. The NES/SNES game genies were awesome.

if this is anything like PS3......you aren't stopping this unless characters are saved server side. I actually tried the game genie one out on the PS3 after I beat a few games. Yes........unless they start scanning saves......games like dark souls and more will get fucked


for singleplayer RPG use though.......fucking loved my gamegenie PS3

It seems like it would allow you to do things in games that you normally wouldn't be able to. Sure, cheating is one, but it can make games that have gone stale have new life again.

Yeah if it interferes with online (and it will) it's not a good thing. But if people want to alter the way they enjoy SP content, I can't blame. And trophies... Who gives a shit. It's one thing to be obsessed with them for your own account, but I couldn't give a rats ass about the trophylist/level of someone else.

Really don't know how this works on the PS4, but I'd imagine it's similar to the PS3, which had copyright protected saves and thus couldn't be altered. FYI, the game genie was a thing on the PS3 too and I don't recall it being a massive problem for PVP games.

It depends on the game. Something like FFXIV has retroactive trophies - I originally played on PC, and when I got the PS4 version most of them unlocked immediately.

GameGenie never interfered to online gaming on the PS3 (Never heard of it anyway). Can´t imagine this one will.
