Yes, but none of them have meaningless trophies in place of the type of rewards you want.
I agree with you, I prefer those rewards as well. But it's not like there's a choice between trophies and in game rewards and you can only have one.

Wow - I'm amazed that achievements appear to be a deal-breaker for people. I really thought people into achievements were a niche minority.
It's completely at the bottom of the list of things I care about. A functional E-Shop and a good online system are far more important. Fingers crossed it doesn't suck.

Try changing the quality of the video? It goes all the way to 1080p.
And seriously I've noticed some major negativity recently in like every single Nintendo thread.
There was one guy that even complained that showing the U.I should have been in spoiler tags lol.....
Would you have prefered no video at all? People have been asking about the UI for a long time and are happy someone is showing it at all, no matter quality, since Nintendo wont do it themselves

I'm just disappointed that the switch doesn't come with at least some apps or silly game collecting to show off the system, the HD rumble, the IR camera etc.
I hope that's because they will game something in the e shop. Otherwise so many people will have a switch and they will never experience so many of the things that make the switch unique given that many will only get Zelda.

(Also, it's not 'standard'. If it was a genuine industry standard that was identical in implementation on Xbox, PSN, Steam, etc. then you'd have a much better argument.)
If Nintendo had previously had system-wide achievements and had then removed them, I would be saying it's pretty shitty for those that like them.

Actually, if it wasn't for the people who try to downplay the achievements the discussion would have been long dead and we would talk about the gorgeous dark theme instead. It was exactly one user who said it was a deal breaker for him.

Nintendo have experimented with achievements before in Street Pass, for example. Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 also featured an achievement system in the form of medals. There has just never been system wide implementation or a standardised format for them to adhere to across their software. So even if the Switch doesn't have an achievement system on an OS level, there are bound to be games for the Switch that do have some kind of similar principle.

The Splatoon 2 testfire is there to drive people to sign-up to the eShop.
Before that was announced I would have guessed that there would have been something available at launch as a free download to drive account sign-ups.
