Street Fighter V |OTVII| New Generation - Connection To Haters Was Lost

I'm still holding out a glimmer of hope that Sagat and/or Sakura are in S2 as one of the few surprises Ono said he'd reveal around E3/Evo. Not that I like the characters but they're obvious inclusions that we need to get out of the way before we can get the characters I like.

The only evo surprise I want to see is playable decapre.

Sagat can stay retired ;P

SFV netcode magic strikes again. I just played against one of my friends in Jeddah Saudi Arabia (I'm in Ontario Canada) and the game was almost lag free on both sides (we were talking to each other on mic) outside one or two rollbacks, yet sometimes i play against people in the West coast and it's a lag fest.

Sagat would make for a nice surprise release in August to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Street Fighter, but that's not going to happen for obvious reasons.

Going forward, I'd like at least one new character per season, whether it's someone like Kolin or a completely original character. Only getting returning fighters is boring.

It's that Arab money. Keeps the network on point.

I agree. There is not many returning characters I would like past Sagat, Oro, Q, Sean, Rose and Sakura so I do hope they keep on giving us new blood too.

That's because people in the West Coast are hitting that router with their American boots.

GGs earlier, Producer. You know, I think I'm gonna spend more time with Balrog. What'd you think when I played him? The thing that people don't realize is that playing Mika can be pretty stressful. Low health, difficult to get in with, needs to take risks to get anything going and she needs to make it count once she gets in.

But with Balrog, I feel like I'm constantly threatening, I have good health and I don't need to be taking crazy gambles all the time. Feels good, and I like the MU more against Chun using him.

GGs. I feel like its a struggle against balrog. It seems all his normals are plus on block, has big damage, good bulk, can brute force his way in with ex dash straight, and that damn low target combo in VT. Dude has it all, definately alot harder than mika.

I'd take Hakan over Decapre if I had to choose a character for V I'd never play. I still think he was a cut above all the other designs in 4. His model just seemed better.

The server made think I got demoted to Rookie with only 50 FM, only to change it back with the earned LP & FM later. I almost got scared for a moment.

I think Sagat is coming this year. Towards the end of last year one of the Florida pros kept going on and on about Sagat being revealed alongside Akuma. He was right about one of the two so I don't doubt Sagat is in the works.

It wouldn't be surprised if Capcom announced some kind of 30th anniversary DLC sometime this year. Sagat + SFII Bison stage + other goodies would make for an enticing bundle.

Daigo asked Bonchan a question. "Even if Sagat were to come back, there's a good chance he would play really differently. Would you still play him? I think Ryu plays more like Sagat in SFV."

Be careful what you wish for man. Your man might come back with another family of his own.

I used to main sagat and somehow i never felt Ryu is similar to him, but i will take a pro player word over mine anytime lol.

Sakura seems like a shoe-in. She is the most popular character in the poll Capcom did a while back, who is not yet in SFV. And Sagat is second in line after Sakura.

I'd love to see Makoto in this game, though. Even if she comes back wrong.

They finally made bison fun so it can't always be bad lolll

Trust me. You're not. He literally picks apart every single frame and talks with about it with the most mundane voice possible. He's good for people who like that sort of thing though. Also, don't make me get started on Maxi-clickbait-millian.

I love Max, but jesus how many complain about SFV videos do you need, dude? I swear he made 3 "Changes for SFV" videos last year.

But I love his React videos, and I love his Boss Rage videos. And YO Videogames is great.

Vesper's way worse though, cuz he'll have a news video and I'm like "Hey new leaks for a season 2, cool." I'll watch it, then the entire video is just him going "Man, having a whole season of just new characters sure is a bad idea, capcom." And it's just like, yeah I know, you already said this in 3 other vids. Stop wasting my time.

I'd like Sakura back purely to see if they make her a schoolgirl again.

Sakura is in Karin's story mode, and it doesn't look like they've changed her design:

If she does get added in at some point, you can bet that will be her nostalgia costume :p

Don't think that means anything. She most definitely will have that costume in the game if she ever comes, but it doesn't mean that will be her default. A lot of characters are wearing the story costumes during the character stories.

Good point.
Maybe they'll make a Hot Sakura costume for her,
with a beard
.

Sakura still working hard on that GED.
All those blows to the head can't have been good for her academic achievements.

Those win cheevos should just come if you keep playing. Getting to gold is rough though but if you just put the time in you can do it. Even I could do it and I started from bottom. Couldn't do a single combo in any FG when I started SFV lol.

Thaks for the words of encouragement. I hit my 100 ranked cheevo just now. The real grind starts now!

As a Laura player, I better get Gold before the March patch, lol.

I don't think the artists and designers knew what every future addition to the roster would look like back when the game was being developed. CFN artwork Akuma and the actual SFV Akuma look like completely different characters, for example. Sakura won't be forced to look like a schoolgirl just because of an old story mode drawing.

Man... this just again reminds me what an utter disappointment I feel when I use SFV Ibuki and, to a lesser extent- Juri, they are almost 100% different characters. Juri sort of works though and Rashid (who I enjoy) fills in what she's missing. No one in the current cast works quite like SF4 Ibuki though... I really hope Kolin scratches that itch for me.

So yeah, it's just as likely they could bring back someone from USF4 that isn't here yet and change them so much that they may as well be a new character. This is why I honestly don't mind the "brand new" cast this season.

Just for an example

The drawing of sean that is in laura's character story and the model in the game are different.

So yeah, you get whatever they decide to give to you. Sometimes you get a godlike design like rog... sometimes you get akuma.

Rolling the dice

I think this game has more hits than misses in terms of returning character redesigns. Even Ken is cool in concept. His outfit is good. Too bad his execution wasn't great compared to everyone else.

Akuma's default design may not look that cool, but I think it fits the concept that he's seemingly becoming more haggard/monstrous perfectly. And his old school costume looks pretty damn great in this game.

I think most of the character (re)designs are pretty good tbh. I like Ibuki's ninja high schooler outfit much better than her rags, for instance. Balrog looks dope, Urien looks dope, Karin looks dope, Bison looks dope...etc.

This is the first time in a while where I finally had the time to just sit down & get some Ranked Matches in. It's amazing to see how much I've grown thanks to my local scene.

Been playing ranked most of the day in prep for a tourney tomorrow. I've actually had a really great day in terms of win ratio (which has honestly been rare for me the past few months, even though I feel like I've been improving a lot), but I've been getting a "failed to send match results to server" message after matches literally all day, probably for more than half of my matches the past six hours or so. I've seen this happen in Season 2 a lot, and like... what the fuck is going on? I don't remember seeing it happen once until the Akuma patch dropped.

I started at 6300 and I'm currently sitting at 6100 after a day of winning the vast majority of my matches 2/3. Earlier my internet died for a second and when I restarted the game I lost 400 points (pretty harsh for someone with no DC record in the past that I can remember) and almost none of my wins have been counting (and when they do, it's usually only for 1 game even though I won 2). Of course, conveniently, all but a few of my losses have affected my record and dragged me down considerably since I haven't been getting points for any of the progress I've made at all.

I know not to take ranked too seriously (and honestly this has been a pretty productive session as far as learning goes) but come on, this shit has been out for a year and there are more problems now than at launch. It's hard not to feel like the last 6 hours have been anything but a waste when my score is now lower than it was to begin with...

They really need to just cut thier losses and create a new server infrastructure for online. Whatever or whoever they have in charge right now clearly don't know what they are doing so spending a bit of money on a new team will be better in the long run. I honestly feel sorry for the actual art and battle designers for this game because all thier hard work is being handed over to incompetent fools at Capcom.

I played one set since my above post, I beat a F.A.N.G. player with a higher rank than me 2-0, and I'm still sitting at exactly 6100 points.

I'm inclined to agree!

I still think Capcom is missing tons of opportunities with the alt outfits with the guys. Especially Ken. I've already stated how stated how Alex's are trash, haha. Come on Capcom.

better yet just drop sfv now and cancel cpt and go all in on mvci. Everyone wins

For the past few weeks, I've had nothing but great matches. And I think the few handfuls of bad ones were people running on 1.9 megabytes of wifi from their local church.

So whatever they did, or are doing, seems to be focusing on getting people into the matches.

However, everything outside of that is a clusterfuck. There are too many errors flying around. My hope is that the errors are next on their list, and they can do one more final clean up right before the "spring" update.

I still play Casual, but I certainly don't fuck with Ranked.

Went 6-1 in ranked since this post, the only match that's counted has been the single loss. This is actually fucking astounding. I know, I know, my LP doesn't actually matter, but it's pretty frustrating to be hovering around the same ranks for months and, when you finally have a really good day online, your wins suddenly stop counting and your points are only going down.

I searched SFVServer on Twitter to see if things are worse today than usual but there's so much consistent complaining in the search results that I honestly can't tell. I promise I'm done complaining about it but holy shit, I've never seen anything like it. Marvel and SF4 had garbage netcode but at least they launched without losing track of match results (and with a ragequit penalty system, which this game is still trying to figure out a year later...). I've honestly been a pretty staunch defender of this game since launch but more issues are popping up than being addressed with almost 0 communication from Capcom. I've been saying that this game doesn't deserve such a bad word-of-mouth reputation for a long time, but they're making it as difficult as possible to believe that.

Its soley depending on how well it does.

Considering the main sponsor of the CPT now has extra incentive to push marvel related shit, if it does well. It might be the main thing
