Nintendo switch UK price £279.99

The offer says 10% from electrical dept, and 20% from everywhere else (ie include "Gaming & DVD" - which is where the Switch is to be found), so logically it should be 20% discount on the Switch. I phoned originally to clarify whether it should be 10% or 20% and the advisor manually processed the order and said I would get 20% discount, but instead I have 0% discount at the moment.

So the nice thing about going Argos for me is that I've already dealt entirely with payment for my Switch & Zelda so I'm good that way, don't need to worry about getting charged etc. In my experience shopto will definitely charge maybe a week in advance. Amazon will probably only charge on dispatch. Not to sure on Game actually. I just need to pay up my £68 for the BoTW amiibo collection when Ninty dispatch those and hope everything actually arrives on time!
I've returned a couple of damaged items to them before with no issue, it is run by 'The Hut Group' though so you might want to keep that in mind.

Don't worry, it'll probably be cheaper by then. Hold out until Xmas. I reckon this'll tank in the UK after the core Nintendo buyer rush.
We were trying to predict which retailers would drop it first the other week.
I've not heard of the hut group, do they own a few companies with dodgy return policies?
The reason exchange policy is important to me is because I tend to be picky lol. I've got a pre-order with Amazon but the delivery will be on the 10th of March!! It was showing the 3rd earlier on.
Customer service are unable to do anything, and don't know why it's suddenly changed. Unfortunately for me the person on the phone sounded like a robot and was clearly reading from a script.

What's this for, the Switch console? I cancelled my pre-order for the grey last week (placed on Switch conference day in Jan), pre-ordered the neon (for 3rd March). This evening I change my mind and decided I want the grey instead, pre-ordered on Amazon UK in the past hour and it's showing as launch day delivery. Going to cancel the neon.
EDIT: tend to be picky, eh? You're OCD like me ;-)

Yeah it's for the Switch console. I tried a pre-order for the Neon and that shows as the 3rd. Grey is showing as the 10th though. Customer service were useless.
Yeah really picky, the main reason I can see me wanting an exchange is if there's a lot of backlight bleed. I went through a few Wii U's because of the gamepad lol
The ideal for me is a retailer that will exchange with no questions asked, the nightmare for me is a retailer that needs to "test it" as they're likely not going to be as picky as me and deem there to be no issue.
Another potential is fan noise, no one really knows what that's gonna be like. It's bad that I'm already thinking of faults but I'd rather have the peace of mind just incase.
That's why the likes of Apple are good, as anything you buy can be exchanged for any reason at all.

Heads up for anyone who used BIGTHANKS on Amazon:
I noticed my order was coming up at £48 instead of around £38
Had to speak to a rep and make sure I would be charged my original invoice. Advising everyone else to check their accounts in case.

if it drops below a combined cost of £50, the code auto removes, so make sure you are enough over £50. I combined mine with the £20 case I wanted anyway. It's possible they'll drop Zelda slightly more before release.

The code didn't auto remove - it's weird. Bought a shitty ruler to bump up the price, got an invoice through straight after my purchase showing the price post-code, then when I logged in a few days ago I noticed it said I would be charged £48.
Had to bring it up with a rep who was really useful, but I'm not sure why it suddenly changed!

Doubt it's that. I bought some 27p noodles with Zelda to use the code. The price in theory is below £50 now, but as I've just said, still coming up as £36.
I wouldn't. I'd wait. See how you get on with Zelda first and if you feel you need something else it might (unlikely) be cheaper by that point.
For me personally any launch game I'd be buying aside from Zelda is just literally because there's nothing else to buy as opposed to really wanting it.
To me, the fact you're even asking whether to buy it is reason enough to hold off.
Zelda in theory should fill the void until Mario Kart 8 and any digital indie games etc will do the job fine on top of that.
While it's probably not good to think like this, especially for a series that's just been revived from the dead, Bomberman R looks like a likely candidate for price drop in the near future.
They won't. They promised weekly updates that never happened.
We'll get an email at some point saying they'll be taking the money a week beforehand probably before Thursday and if you're not getting it at launch, you just won't get one.

MK8 has reduced on Amazon which may explain some of the BIGTHANKS codes not working.
Hmm, several times livechat have told me they will let people know in advance of launch, but now you have me concerned :/

Damn, and I thought I was picky. Stick to Amazon then, even if it comes late. They usually don't mess you around with returns.
Yeah, they confirmed that weekly update on Twitter too, but nothing.
We'll know next week though. Payment will likely be taken this coming Friday if they're going out.

that's why i'm going with amazon. i'm quite picky too. i'm worried that my Switch will have something wrong with it that bothers me like dead pixels/backlight bleed. i had my 3DS XL replaced a few times because of screen issues and the stick was making a loud clicking noise. amazon replaced them no problem. i know some people will say i'm abusing the system but i'd really rather not have to do it. i just expect to be happy with the product if i'm paying a lot of money.
Sweet, down to £42. With the 8 bit link Amiibo and BIGTHANKS that means I'm paying £33.97 for MK8.

Was going to cancel my pre order purely because I would only be getting it for Zelda and have too many games on my plate as it is. But now back on the fence because I'm a sucker for new tech and I can afford it. Only thing swaying me is the thought of a "special edition". What are the chances of a Zelda/Mario themed Switch console coming out this year? Never bought anything other than a standard console but really liked the design of the Wii U and 3DS Zelda editions

Nice I'm down to £33.38 for mine now. Brought Hyrule warriors 3ds with it.
Happy to pay that price given how many hours I've already put into it when I owned a Wii U. £45+ would have been a bit steep

I've decided I'm getting a Switch when Mario Kart 8 releases.
My original plan was to buy it around fall hoping for a price drop or a good bundle.
But I think this is the right balance. It gives me time to see if there are any issues with the hardware. And I know I won't enjoy a Switch with just Zelda, I always need a pick up and play game and I have never played Mario Kart 8 as I didn't own a Wii U so that game is a must buy for me.
So getting a Switch 7 weeks after launch and I doubt it would be sold out as it seems launch day preorders are always pop up here and their. If it is sold out it's not a big deal for me I'll wait it out.
I just got a PS4 Pro and borrowed Uncharted 4 off a friend so would be busy with that over the next 2 weeks. Also gives me time to finish some of my backlog of games.

Well i guess its advertising space in a space that is frequented by large percentage of the population. Again it might have been just a random tv advert (sometimes they're hooked up to freeview), or it might be an advertising push. Asked him/her to clarify. Not that it really matters haha.

Sainsbury's often loop adverts on their display TVs, usually for new release DVDs and videogames. I did notice that they had switch pre-order adverts on the game shelves in my local branch when I was last in so there's obviously some kind of Sainsbury's push going on.

Is there still no way to pay off preorders early on Amazon? I was going to apply a gift card to my order but when I did that for Rock Band 4 they put me to the back of the list of orders cause I "changed my order".

Nothing on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram feeds or on TV adverts.
Perhaps they are waiting until Mario Kart 8 to have a bigger presence in the marketing department. Hopefully by then they have basic features like Netflix and YouTube ready.

Switch/Zelda ads were ALL OVER YouTube for me for the last two weeks of January. It is a bit strange they haven't put that back on yet.

I saw a very short trailer for it during modern family on Sky 1. About 15 seconds.
Both sites have personalised ads, so it wouldn't be too strange if others don't see the same ads you do.

nope the only way is applying the gift card. i was gonna do it because i hate having money in my bank and not being able to spend it. i'd rather just pay it straight away. i'm not touching my order just incase it delays it.
