Morning yall

Way too many games coming out., I'm just limiting myself to Zelda, Nier Automata, Bomberman and Persona 5. I'm gonna wait on Horizon and Mass Effect.

They dropped a new Killer Instinct, anything is possible in the LAND OF DREAMS(tm).
Sega gonna need a bigger company to bring it
Sad to see the support KI gets from it's devs compared to the attention from consumers

Still not convinced that Nier is going to be special. I didn't find the demo to be very engaging.

More Nier 1 fuckery with improved Platinum gameplay
Niche within niche

Indifferent towards the game-play, just want to see where the plot goes.

I can't figured out why I can't get behind Persona 5. I've played at least a bit of most of the Persona games and generally enjoyed my time. Shit looks dull to me.

Mine would be either Dead Space or Red Faction get a new game. Red Faction wiping clean all the games after the first one. Red Faction (1) was brilliant , but they messed up by moving onto aliems etc.

New Dead Space would give me life, and a big budget Red Faction with the environmental destruction still there would be great. I hope if they did they'd do the OG Ps2 red faction and make it an FPS where you can cheese through the level by blowing up the walls.

If we ever get another Dead Space game it'll probably be a full reboot which would be unfortunate.

I'd rather have a better The Thing game.

It'd probably end up being a Telltale series of The Thing. That kind of game lends itself better to that source material. Although I'd want the people who made Until Dawn to do it.

I liked parts of it, but just didn't get into it fully. Renner and Adams are also shit actors.

You just keep digging deeper man. Amy Adams was great in it and I usually dont care for her at all. I guess if the first 5 min doesnt hook you in emotionally it wont work for you. But then again if you dont get hooked in you might be a sociopath.

Yeah it was weird how the detruction started of huge in OG Red Faction, yet in the sequals got less and less. The og Red Factions story about miners standing up against a big company was brilliant, but for some reason they skipped out of telling more of that story.

I'm no orange man.

Yet they kept the continuity kind of and kept Ultron as the "big bad" despite it really being about aliens I guess? I stopped playing the last one after like fifteen minutes.

The destruction is how you sell it, package it with a grounded, simple story (miners again because then being able to blow chunks out of rock makes sense) and you can do real well with it. Especially the multiplayer (which was awesome). Some of my favorite memories was playing the MP and majing rules that you weren't allowed to touch the ground outside of your base at all, and digging to the opponents using missile launchers along the walls.

Just read Jess Conditt's Horizon review. I like a lot of her writing. Don't share much in common by way of taste in games. With that said, that review told me nothing about the game as a cohesive whole, but a whole lot about her attachment to what clicked for her.
It could have been better served as a supplementary piece for something more critical.

Damn. I actually want this one

That is worthy.

Its niche as fuck. Nier 1 is a middling game wrapped in an interesting setting, one of the best soundtracks ever in gaming, with a well written story. Platinum's combat expertise just lifts it up out of being middling but its not nearly as deep as a Bayonetta or Wonderful 101.

Flipside I wish more video game folks wrote stuff like that.

When people say a cult classic's main issue is the combat, and said combat is being handled by Platinum, I can't help but be interested. Also that OST will undoubtedly be glorious.

Mods normally lock these kinds of threads but I'd hate for it to happen due to how much time they put into this.

Same.

I even know McDonald's ain't shit but it's everywhere and i didn't have the energy to get up earlier. Just flew back home yesterday, so I'm her lagged. We all crashed around 8pm yesterday after flying in early and still laying on the couch all day.

Just the Lord telling me to stay away.

Caught in a dilemma with a job situation. Had two interviews last week. One was in a job out of town, but it only pays $9 an hour and I only work 20 hours per week. It'll take me two hours and some change to get their everyday plus I have to pay for the bus going and back everyday. Manager their said I was her best candidate, but I need to go through a second interview that she'll let me know about on Tuesday.

Got two more interviews this week. I talked to one on Friday I think and they said they would email me the address of their campus. Checked this morning and it's in South Carolina, but pays $43,000 a year. I doubt my mom will drive all the way down there though. I got another one that's with an insurance company I applied before, but didn't get. Mom is off this week, but I think if she finds out it's the same place she's going to throw a fit.

I also got another phone interview with some insurance company. Not sure what to do.
Definitely don't do a thing until you hear the other two offers/interviews.

That $9 per hour job, is it anything special? A side job? Because the math seems like a struggle. Just the fact that you have a $43k offer makes it seem like no contest. Factor in the Southern standard of living and you may get a 3 series out of this (don't do this, I'm joking). But that'll feel like $50-60k.

Why do you need your mom to drive there? Visits? Other commitments?

That $9 per hour job, with 2 hours of commute and a second interview seems off. Or is this a new normal?

If they SC job seems stable (maybe see if they'll let you talk to current workers or recently former employees to make sure it's not shady, ask questions if it'll be a move. You'll want 2 interviews for that one so you can basically interview them.)

I just don't see how style (which is what is selling it) is going to somehow elevate this one out of being trite. Would love to be wrong and have a reason to pick it up though.

Agreed. I'd read more on their sites if they did. Then again, we excepted and got a lot of that from Polygon....

I can see how if everyone started flooding the site with their own shit lists it would be a problem. This one is pretty interesting though. I'd like to see it through to the #1.

I mean the main appeal is still going to be the writing and the music. The combat being competently made is great, but it's not the focus of the product it's connective tissue. No one should be coming to this particular title for any real mechanical complexity.

You're confident that the writing is going to be good? I'll take your word for it if so.

Edit: I should elaborate. What I mean is not will it have depth, but will it be well told and not a mess of concepts washed out with anime sighs and angst.

Good afternoon all. I did cardio in the gym today and it was brutal. Then my girlfriend and I walked our dog for 3 hours because the weather is beautiful.

It feels amazing right now in my living room with the blinds all the way up and windows open.
Horizon and Mass Effect are the only games I have on pre-order for this year.

Getting the digital Mass effect preorder on Tuesday. Gonna get the deluxe. Might as well.

I'm digitally pre-ordering Horizon and Mass Effect, the deluxe edition for both ($70).

Make sure you guys pre-order when PSN has the "Pay $100 and get back $15" deal this month.

If I didn't think the writing would be strong I wouldn't be buying it at all honestly. I have no love for Platinum's games.

Right on. I'll keep that in mind when my inevitable buying spree comes back around.

Man it took me 3 years just to come up with a personal top ten, and that was with SonicGAF constantly busting my chops. I could never do a top 100 EVER.

That's why i don't even do any top tens
Maybe top 5 if forced

How people expect me to choose a top 10 music list
Sweating just thinking
