Formula 1 2016 Season |OT2| BUT GRO PER

As far as I know, the Merc nose is the shortest possible nose under the rules. Other teams have tried to emulate it like Red Bull, they spent a lot of time and money trying but no one else can meet the strict crash testing requirements with such a short nose and therefore need to add extra structure or penis. Merc clearly have something pretty innovative in terms of structure/weave going on.

Have to say I'm surprised that RBR haven't managed before now (they might for this car, but I'm not expecting it). They were supposed to have magic in those bendy front wings after all.

New Force India car also features shark fin:

It's not, but they all have one except maybe the RBR/STR, since it's just better for airflow to the rear wing.

Yep. It's not mandated, but useful under 2017 regulations:

The change that could prompt their return is the move to lower and wider rear wings. Last year the wing was 950mm high and 750mm wide. This season the respective figures are 800mm and 950mm. It means that on most cars the rear wing will suffer more from the turbulence generated by air coming off the front axle and suspension.

The shark fin solution, or ‘airbox sail’ as it is sometimes described, dates back to 2008 when Red Bull introduced it on their RB4 machine (pictured above). It helps to divert turbulent air away from the rear wing, especially while cornering.

Ironically, Red Bull are one team who may be less likely to go down this route for 2017. Running a high rake angle on your car - as the former champions are renowned for doing - actually lessens the effect of the turbulence coming from the front, as more of that airflow simply passes under the rear wing.

I have no confidence in Mercedes coming up with a good looking livery. I wouldn't mind a really good looking one, for a change, though.

MR Mercedes saying that in 2017 cars will be at full throttle about 10% more time since they can get on power earlier and off later. Also obviously some corners that needed a lift will now be ignored entirely.

Also talks about the PU having to be structurally stronger and slightly heavier because the lateral loads are higher due to increased cornering speeds.

Huge penis.
Huge shark fin.
Silver could be hard to distinguish from Mercedes.
Weird nose.
Blocky car.
Conventional bargeboard.

Also the big airbox and shark fin seem to be the standard now.

What a night and day difference between this and the Renault. The nose is significantly uglier, the shark fin looks worse, the paint job is bland and boring, (orange/white/green???) weird stepped nose...

That steep incline above the front wheel suspension is hideous. Reminds me of the stepped noses of 2013.

Weirdly angled steps are something that should not EVER be allowed to be on a F1 car. It's like the F1 equivalent of this:

It's like a collection of everything worst about F1 design in the past decade all rolled into one car.

I hope for them that it's super-fast, at least.

Sauber's car looks quicker than this Force India.

Ugly car is ugly
and probably slow

That is one hideous car.

They'll have loads of cash to develop it at least, as they didn't spend anything designing it.

Funnily enough, I've been thinking about these cars the last few days, but I couldn't remember the name of them. What were they called again? They were hideous. One of my friends back then was a total car person who was shocked to find one sitting in his parents' driveway one day.

Oh, and yeah. That force India is pretty ugly.

Fiat Multipla.

You should also check the Pontiac Aztek.

Everytime I come across a Multipla on the road I'm legit amazed that someone went out and bought one.

I mean, why? Why on Earth would you spend your money on that?

What a dull livery. The fin is lame but the nose tip doesn't bother me at all. The "nostrils" make it look much more interesting than the old penis noses. That stepped nose though..ugh fuck all stepped noses. Awful look.

If the internet has proven anything to me in the last few days, it's that random people on the internet can whip up better liveries in under an hour than the teams can in months.

Mallya, Willis, Hamilton, Wolff last Thursday all dancing around the issue of whether the tyres will work. Do they know something we don't?

I can't wait for the fantasy liveries by random artists.

Here are some from last year.

Well, the Sauber is looking better now, lol. That FI is uninspiring in all aspects.

So. Having one of the colours in the Indian flag in the Force India livery. I think that's a cert :)

Ha, sorry I should have included a /sarcasm at the end.
