PlayStation Ireland clarifies tweet: ''N. Sane Trilogy will be coming to PS4 first''

PC's fine I guess, but I hope this doesn't come to Xbox/Nintendo.

These particular games are so integral to PS' history that it'd be a terrible look for the brand if they were playable on competitor consoles. Same reason I'd prefer not to see Gears come to PlayStation (back when Epic owned the rights & that was totally possible).
Man fuck up with this non sense bait

Where's everybody who swore on their own graves that this would be exclusive? Lol

This whole generation has been a cluster fuck of "is it really exclusive?!".

Being my first console I have a stupid amount of nostalgia for the PS1 and for the Crash games in particular, but the idea that people think this remaster needs to be tied to the PS4 in any way is absolutely ridiculous.

The target audience for this game first and foremost is the (likely now) 30-somethings who played and loved these games the first time around. Not all of that target audience locked themselves into Sony for the following 20 years and will now be playing their games elsewhere, be it PC or other consoles.

Being time exclusive to PS4 is a "fine, OK" deal that makes total sense, but getting this game out to other platforms afterwards is a much bigger deal.

So the same source that said it was exclusive now says first, is that where we are?

It's more a clarification than a correction. Strictly speaking, answering "Is it PS4-only?" with "This will be PS4-exclusive" only unequivocally pointed to exclusivity at launch. That's not to say inferences of perpetual exclusivity were unfounded, however, thus this replacement tweet.

I would be interested to read the details on how this came about, who was the driving force. Activision and Sony have been cozy this generation so timed exclusive makes sense for Crash, full exclusive didn't seem likely.

I'm really surprised that so many Crash "fans" seem to have no clue that Crash did not at any point belong to Sony? He was conceived by Vivendi and Naughty Dog (who wanted to join in on the 3D platformer craze) before Sony acquired ND, and if I recall correctly, only came to the PlayStation because ND was a new studio at the time and the PlayStation was the most viable option.

Crash is a huge part of PlayStation's history because third party games are a huge part of PlayStation's history.

They were PlayStation-exclusive as, with the exception of CTR, they were co-published by Sony and Universal. It's why Sony has seemingly perpetual publishing rights despite Acti owning the games themselves (CTR is owned by Sony; it wasn't part of the multi-game deal). They probably would have been multiplatform if there were no partnership and Universal published the games itself.

woah, I just assumed it'd be exclusive since it's Crash

so PC seems most likely but would this come to Xbox One or Switch? that'd be wild. I guess I've already played a Crash game on Game Boy Advance so it's not too weird.

the guy in this OP says crash is a timed exclusive --> http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1346418

so wtf is gong on here?

it's a timed exclusive, ps4 first then switch and xbox later.

Sony ireland had to delete their tweet about it being exclusive and now they re-tweet for clarification saying they that it's only coming to ps4 first.

there's no indication that it is a timed exclusive though, was there a source somewhere proving that?
maybe read about what is going on first before posting. playstation irelands old tweets were wrong, they go deleted and now they are simply saying ps4 first and not exclusive on ps4.

actually pc the least likely, they just released crash in skylanders for wii u and xbox only a few months ago so it's makes far more sense on nintendo and xbox.
Pc i'm really not sure..

interesting. I just figured since there are a handful of PS4 console exclusives on PC that that'd be the way they'd go. I guess sales would be better if it was Switch and Xbox One though so you're probably right.

The problem with this argument is that there are many more Crash Bandicoot multiplatform games than there are Sony Console-exclusive games. Gears of War is an exclusive Microsoft property but Crash Bandicoot has shown up on multiple platforms many times by this point. A Crash game released on the N-Gage for Crash's sake.

Hell, prior to the Trilogy re-release there's just as many Nintendo exclusive Crash Bandicoot games as there are Sony exclusive Crash games.

They put crash in the latest skylanders game, they put crash in the skylanders tv show, they want to sell this game to the kids

lol finally, it's timed as expected, great move for Sony crash will sell a lot of PS4s to the casual crash fans. Sony helped make them so it makes sense they get something out of it.

Isn't it amazing how Crash turned from Sony mascot to crappy Activision brand to apparently enough of a reason to start some good old message board wars?

What a ride.

Coming to the Switch with Crash in Smash.

Crash would probably fit in quite well (not that it would ever happen).

OT: Pretty cool that this is coming to other platforms. One of the few third party games I would pick up on Switch rather than PS4 I think.

Well... the thread you're actually posting in ?

oh shit I didn't realize they deleted their original tweet and then had to retweet first on Ps4...

well I guess that's that. this is a timed exclusive and will come to PC and/or all other platforms this gen

I had a feeling that this wasn't exclusive to PS4, but I'm really happy to get more information! Hopefully this comes to Xbox One as I try to play everything on there.

Is it really impressive to see it just above a controller? Seems kinda bad.

For an imminent hardware launch and the fact that we just got a release date, I'd say that's pretty good. Just for reference, Halo Wars 2 is the first Xbox One game on that list on #72.

The only difference is clicking the button to buy Halo Wars 2 costs you money....

The amount of people who are aware of this game must be surprisingly high for CRASH. This is still Crash and it beats other pre-orders too.

Of course it will be a timed exclusive. But love how people were dismissing Playstation Ireland when they said it was an exclusive, but now you trust them.
I'm still not getting my hopes up until we get official word on it, but a game not staying exclusive is much better news than a game staying exclusive. Of course people will be more optimistic about the possibility of a title not being locked to a platform.
