Batman Reddit Rumour probably BS according to press sneak fuck of substantial repute

First of all, take this with lots of salt, because I haven't found a way of verifying this, but nevertheless I felt like sharing this (amazing sounding) rumour. I was browsing a bit on Reddit when I came across a post from a supposed WB Montreal employee. Expecting to be fired soon, he decided to leak some info about the upcoming Arkham game:

edit: I've tagged some of the narrative spoilers in the very, very, very off chance this rumour is legit.

Long story short: WB Montreal employee, well, soon-to-be-former-WB-employee. I was part of the team that worked on the failed Suicide Squad game before that got canned, then me and several others got moved to another team developing a new Batman: Arkham game instead. Since I'm probably not going to stay at WB for much longer, and since you guys are going to get the whole news on 8 March anyway, I figured I might as well leak it ahead of time so you guys have got something to look forward to.

1) The game is called Batman: Arkham Insurgency and it takes place about 3 years after the events of Arkham Origins. It's built on the same engine as Arkham Knight was and has been in development since around 2014.

2) The game will feature Batman and Dick Grayson as Robin as the main playable characters. Grayson has been Robin for about two years at this point.

2) It's set in a previously unexplored, coastal area of Gotham that is roughly the same size as the three islands from Arkham Knight on the outside, although the interiors have been substantially expanded so you will be able to get inside most of the buildings now. The Batcave and Wayne Manor are also accessible via fast travel.

3) The plot is that there has been a mass breakout at Blackgate and Arkham Asylum, and several terrorist attacks across the city, which results in the GCPD blocking off a segment of Gotham where they have completely lost control. This is the main playable area and while it's mostly populated by villains and criminals, there's a whole heap of trapped civilians that Batman and Robin will need to rescue.

4) The Batmobile is in the game, but it's been changed. There's no more battle mode but the controls have been modified to compensate. The combat mostly consists of chase sequences and using the Batmobile's superior speed and maneuverability to navigate around slower opponents while bombing the hell out of them with the car's weaponry. The missiles, power winch and the EMP device remain, along with some new stuff.

5) Dual play mode is also present, but it's been changed. The dual takedown has been removed but there's a whole bunch of new special moves and combos in its place. There's an entire new skill tree devoted to the mechanic.

6) Combat has been expanded to better accommodate 1-on-1 fights. It's still rhythm based where you have to time all the correct button presses exactly, but it's more complicated than the attack/counter basis of the previous games.

7) Owlman and the Court of Owls are the main villains of the game - although
Owlman is really the main focus, especially when he murders all the other members of the Court towards the end of the game and starts targeting Batman's allies. It's revealed that the Court views Batman's heroics as a threat to their control, so they organize a criminal uprising to take him out. The Talons are also present as elite enemies who you never fight more than 3 at a time as just one character, or 4 to 5 as both characters.

8) Other villains in the game are
Maxie Zeus, Dollmaker, Killer Moth, Anarky, Two-Face, Blockbuster, Ventriloquist, Cornelius Stirk, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, Dusan al Ghul, Mad Monk, Dala, Riddler and yes, Joker. Joker
figures somewhat prominently in the story (it's revealed that he helped orchestrate the Arkham Asylum breakout), but he's not the main villain but more of a major supporting character who mostly works for himself, but will sometimes help Batman and Robin if it benefits him.

9) Alfred and Lucius Fox are your main contacts in the game. Barbara Gordon helps you out on a few side missions and has a slight crush on Dick Grayson, which he doesn't reciprocate.

10) Unlike Arkham Knight, there will actually be boss battles this time.

11) The estimated release date is around November of this year, but it's possible that it could be pushed back seeing as the game was meant to be revealed towards the end of last year but was delayed.

According to him, the Suicide Squad game is cancelled (or was this already known?). He also seems to be answering some specific questions in the comment section: https://www.reddit.com/r/BatmanArkh...lers_i_really_dont_give_a_damn_at_this_point/. Again, take this with a massive amount of salt. But time will tell, 12 days until the supposed announcement (8 March).

And mods, feel free to lock the thread if rumours like these shouldn't be given too much attention.

Origins was hugely underrated.
I'd be nicely optimistic if what he says is true.

Hope they get Kevin Conroy again though rather than someone else as they did with Origins.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
I loved Origins and felt it was hugely underrated, BUT there was no denying that the game had a TON of technical issues that got worse as the game went on.

Can WB please just make a super hero game that doesn't star Batman for once. They have such a big roster of characters to choose from.

yeah, Im on #teamfake on this one

we already knew about the SS cancellation and the rumors from reliable sources point to a Batman Damian Wayne game

Origins was the best one. Had the best boss battles(Bane), side missions(Shiva, Deadshot), and regular enemies(martial artists). I never played the Freeze DLC but heard it was the best as well.

Even if it's fake, you should probably put a spoiler warning or spoiler tags in there or something. There are multiple late game plot reveals in it.

I hope they fix that noticeable lag during combat found in Arkham Origins. Took a while for me to get used to it.

Hmmm, seems pretty detailed. Makes sense for WB Montreal to make another one of these since Rocksteady is reportedly moving on. Either way I would probably get this.

This would be SO good. Perfect way for them to bring back the Joker and all the villains while keeping Batman as Bruce Wayne.

Now if we could only get Tara Strong out of the picture...

Hope they get Kevin Conroy again though rather than someone else as they did with Origins.

I love Conroy but I feel the exact opposite, Roger Craig Smith killed it as Batman in Origins. I hope they keep him on if this rumor is true. Still, slightly disappointed in another Bruce Wayne/Batman prequel.

WB has shifted to one game per studio.

Playing devils advocate, this leak is way too detailed to be true imo, the other game would still be very early in production. So at one point SS and this would have been in development, but now just this in full. Considering suicide squad leaked, plus it was talked about, and this didn't I doubt its real. This is however around time WB announces stuff. Feb/March. Could be true, probably not. With Som 2 out next year, they do kinda need a heavy hitter for the fall.

Well this certainly doesn't match up with all the Damian Wayne as Batman rumors we've heard

I'm calling BS.

That could be the game after this. Also, this sounds WAY better than anything with Damian Wayne, so I very much hope this is real.

So then this already sounds better than Arkham Knight. Tank battles dragged that whole game down for me.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Huge spoilers there with the Owls. That's disappointing if true, because I had no idea that happened in the comics.

This is pretty close to what I wanted for a new Arkham game.

The rumors of a Damian Wayne game seem too numerous though, and it isn't likely they both exist.

Still annoyed where they took Barbara and got her paired up with and for them to tease the Grayson/Gordon in this game would be salt in the wound. Prefer the overall game described in this over a Damien Wayne game.

So we have random Reddit guy saying their making an AO sequel while we have Schrier (Press Sneak Fuck/Actual Journalist) saying we're getting a Damien Wayne spin-off featuring the nemesis system. Gee who should I believe?

I have yet to start this "trilogy". Always been interested in Batman but I don't know where to start to be really familiar with its universe.

Yess, Montreal's storytelling is far, far superior to Rocksteady's. Can't wait really.

Arkham Knight was certified trash imo, I'm playing it right now and i can't wait for it to end (And it never does, the batmobile really ruined the game). We can only go up.

Also, playable Robin!

I would rather take the Damian Wayne game with the Nemesis system... and since we heard about that one a while longer I believe that's the game we are getting, and this new rumour is just that. But we will see in a few weeks I guess.

What are Rocksteady up to? One of my favourite studios, loved Arkham Knight.

Not heard anything since they release AK.

It's simple really. You play them in the order they released. Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight. Folks like to shit on AO because it wasn't developed by Rocksteady but it's a solid game.

Sure it has some bugs that we're never fixed and compared to AC, the open world may seem bland but it's my favorite one narrative wise outta the first 3.

More Arkham? Eh while good I think it should take a rest for a while and let a different DC hero shine.

Yeah. We have four Batman games in this series and miraculously all of them are, at the very least, good. Shift it to another hero and go somewhere else with it.

I would love a sequel to Origins. It did so many things better than the main trilogy.

Just a shame about the bugs and the weird traversal.
