KS8000 settings for gaming at 4k/HDR

1) HDR+ is largely useless and does not give an accurate picture. It's akin to people who like to boost the color/contrast/sharpness because they think it looks good. Obviously taste is subjective but I don't see many being a fan (including myself)

2) ARC (audio return channel) is only important if you want to run audio to a soundbar or receiver via HDMI separately from the HDMI connection to your TV. It is limited to 2 channel PCM or 5.1 Dolby Digital/DTS (same limitation as optical).

Love HDR+ mode myself, I use it for anything that's not gaming and not hdr. Think it shines when watching sports. Can definitely see some people not liking it though.

Hi I have UK ks7000. I've noticed playing ps4 pro games like ffxv uncharted 4 and ratchet that if I set ps4 to 1080p I get a much sharper image and I preference this. At ps4 pro 2160p output it's definitely blurring. Any fancy testing this to see if it's just my set.

Package is 10 minutes away, I can't pick it up because the station is only manned between 8-10 on week days.... I got to wait until monday. I'm not home next weekend and I got a busy week.

I am not a happy meal.

I'm one click away from buying the 65 inch KS8500 for $1199. I'm coming from a 50 inch Panasonic UT50. Ughhhhh

My UKKS7000 has started to lose connection to the TV for a second or two. Audio keeps going, but the picture disappears. Happened twice so far, both times on the Xbox One.

It had done this a few weeks ago, but I'd put it down to the Xbox One dying at the time. I've since had a replacement.

Weirdly, the last time it happened I could still here the game audio in Wildlands, but when I brought up the TV menu it looked like the TV had decided it was on a different input.

Do it. Join us.

Bought it. Fry's will deliver it to my door today between 4 - 8PM PST. Now I need to chill out on buying things for awhile. My wife and I have spent a lot of money the past two weeks relocating to Portland.

Edit: Dammit, I'll need a new A/V receiver now. Any recommendations?

Why do you need a new A/V receiver?

Why do you need a new A/V receiver?

Just bought a 65 KS8000 but I use AudioEngine A5+'s for music and movies. With no RCA, I have to use the optical out and probably get an digital to analog adapter to keep using them. Seems like a more affordable method than a DAC or an AV receiver.

I just bought the ks9000 55" off the dell website for1500. I got a 500 gift card so I will put that towards a pro. Wondering if this a good deal or not?

Any reason you need a new one?

A month ago, I bought a Denon x1300w (which I believe has most of the new stuff one needs like 4k/hdr support, dolby atmos, dts:x, etc) from Frys using their promo codes to bring it down to $299, free shipping and no tax. I just tried today's code on it and it sort of still seems to work, bringing it down to $319. I do not see any shipping option anymore though.

Haha. I know the feeling. I just brought up the subject with my wife last night about possibly needing a new TV sometime this year.

I'm just afraid that the prices will drop even lower on these sets as the 2017 models come out. Don't want or regret jumping on the B6, but definitely will wait for the KS8000 to be sub-$1000.

She already giving me this look of frustration because she knows how bad I want a TV.

We still use a low-end Phillips 40" 1080p from 2011. This would be an insane upgrade.

Just copped the 65. Tried to hang it on my existing wall mount.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012S4APK/?tag=neogaf0e-20

1. The plastic "spacers" included with the KS8000 are very long. Much longer than the screws for the mount.

2. The "hooks" that screw into the TV don't seem to fit on the KS8000. It curves slightly and the hooks are straight.

Any ideas? I think new screws are in order. Does anyone know the exact size to buy?

I'm confused as to how the settings work on this TV. It is supposed to be a per input basis, so if I switch over to Netflix from my PS4 input it seems to be using the settings for PS4 (like Game mode). Is this correct?

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
Preface: I am dumb -- don't let it upset you.

Actual question: Sooo... the HDR on this set, isn't really full HDR? I ask because of the HDR calibration settings on games... seems like it's not the full range, I guess? Always tops out at about 70 - 80% of whatever the calibration they're using.

I didn't necessarily buy this for HDR anyway, was more of a perk, but I guess I'm pretty dense about this stuff.

I would like to buy a ks8000 but am worried about the glue melting and the back coming off. It seems to be a common occurrence with this model according to the internet? Is it something that is going to eventually happen, like the ps3 ylod?

This set is full. That's just calibration. Like a brightness.slider doesn't go to max in games etc

Finally got my bias lighting setup. I'm pretty happy, less migraines but not sure if that could be the reason.

Still fighting the urge to purchase the ks8000 or the lg b6...i keep thinking that it may drop even further in price as the 2017 models come in. But 1399 for the lg b6....anyone owns both or have experience seeing both in person and can help differentiate between the two? From what I know, for both 55" samsung is best for day usage whereas the b6 is great for watching movie at night because of the dark blacks?

With the switch coming out on Friday I will officially run out of hdmi ports on the external box that comes with the tv. What is the best option to get more hdmi connections without losing quality and be able to go 4k?

I have yet to solve my audio issue.

Every single time I put any content on. I need to go to expert settings and turn that shit off of pcm and on to dolby or dts

How am I the only one with this issue.

Also. Please. New people. Look at op. Use the settings I wrote up.

And.for the live of baby Jesus turn dynamic contrast off. That shit is whack

I love dynamic contrast so it's staying 😀 think it set depends on the rest of the settings and the room you're using it in. My room is reasonably bright. Maybe it's better on the KS9000 too?

Do you use hdr+ at all?

Does that audio issue happen with all content on all inputs? The only time mine changes to pcm is if the HDMI input is sending out pcm, or if the tv is set to Dolby and the input is set to dts vice-versa. I leave mine in Dolby most of the time and it's fine as my TiVo and PS4 are set to that. Just have to change the PS4 and tv to DTS when i play a Blu-ray with DTS.

It meets HDR standards so is technically full HDR, probably best to test it on any tv/movie hdr content. I imagine it's quite inconsistent in games depending how it's used. There's better quality HDR sets coming out this year though.

Hi guys. I have a problem with this TV and maybe you can help me. When I have my PS4 Pro hooked up to the TV I have absolutely no issues - everything is running fine and it's awesome. Though if I hook up my PC to my TV, I randomly have some blackscreen issues where it's turning black for like a second. Did anyone of you have a similar issue and if so do you know how to solve it? Some help would be much appreciated.

1165 also still has the problem whereby Dolby Digital passthrough adds around 100ms audio lag, in Game mode only. Won't affect everyone but very frustrating for those of us that use this feature.

Just installed 1165.1 and I can confirm HDR in game mode still isn't fixed :(

Started Gears 4 and backlight stayed on 8.

I also installed the latest firmware, because of my problem mentioned earlier and I can also confirm that the backlight didn't adjust automatically and I still need to turn it up to 20 manually.

Samsung's update servers are the most temperamental I've ever come across. One minute it's telling the download will finish in 15 mins, next it's 4 days.

Possibly dumb question but the loss of picture when viewing at an angle, does the same apply if you're viewing below the TV? For example, if the TV is above head level?

Yes it does. The effect is more limited, but 45 degrees below and you will notice for sure. Invisible under 15 degrees I'd say.

Hi everyone,

I just bought at KS9800 65-inch (so gorgeous!), but would like to calibrate it. It's a huge thread, so forgive me if someone already posted about it, but does anyone have any recommendations for calibrating the KS9800?
