Got my switch and set it up, no problems with anything as of yet. Wifi is good, left joy con is fine, I didn't install the joy con straps upside down or backwards. All good so far.

Thing is just really nice to hold and play undocked.

When charging the Switch in portable mode, with the joycons attached, is this charging the joycons as well? Or are they rubbing off the power of the tablet?

Well if you are charging the tablet and the joycons are rubbing off the power of the tablet... ;)

Both get charged obviously.

Exactly. It's fucking perfect to play undocked. Like I said earlier. This is going to replace the 3DS

I found out earlier today that you can have headphones plugged in while docked. Works well for me since I use it at my desk.

I love this thing so far. :)

Got all of my stuff (system, zelda se, amiibo, pro controller, screen protector, 128gb microsd, powerbank, spare usb-c cables, beats headphones, and case) by early afternoon. Also got some swag from Gamestop when I picked up my system and accessories.

Here's everything now that I've setup my Switch

Oh uh. You probably don't want to remove the skin from the console ever. There are are some problems and PSAs from skin manufacturers that the Switch surface doesn't like the adhesive.

lol watching IGN stream on all the Launch games. You can see how fast the joy con novelty wares off on people within the first 15 minutes of using it. 1-2 switch looked hilariously bad.

So the Switch doesn't charge enough to play a game while charging right?

I think you are getting confused with charging from a mid-level battery pack. Charging via the supplied lead charges while playing.

Can you reformat Micro SD cards from the system? I have one I'd like to use, but I'd rather not dig up the adapter and plug it into my PC.

iPhone power brick would charge it extremely slowly, iPad brick is preferable (even if still not ideal).

But in short it is possible to charge the Switch with that cable.
Thankee sai. I was mainly worried about killing the battery or frying something. I can deal with a slow charge.

This is a very useful video!

Looks way too easy to get it in wrong because there's no kind of resistance in doing so. I imagine lots of people will absent-mindedly do this.

Doing it this way is much better than trying to force it out and potentially damaging your controller. Better to do this and gently lift up those hook/latch things that keep it stuck in place.

It's a minor thing, but I love how taking a screenshot is completely instantaneous--you can do it 5 times per second if you time your mashing right--and the system automatically hides the screenshot icon if you take another one while it's still being displayed. Big step up from the Vita and even the PS4.

To all of you having trouble with the Joycon straps, have you noticed there's a lock that needs to be unlocked before removing them from the Joycon controller? It took me a while to notice it was there.

Yeah I finally noticed this too. If you make sure to unlock them and then apply a LOT of pressure really slowly you can get the hang of getting them on and off.

Still odd why this is so weird though when clicking the joycons onto the tablet or the grip is so easy.

Is there a way to use the Mii linked to your NNID on the Switch? I seem to recall an option for that during initial setup but I skipped it because I hadn't linked my NNID yet. It doesn't seem like it can be done now, though.

Mine I have to move closer to the router. The spot above the wii u (which has always been a wireless champ for me) it fails to get a signal.

Wi fi is pure dog shit.

The Switch is literally 3 feet from the router. It's picking up my neighbor's wireless, but not mine.

I've never had an issue with any other system Nintendo or otherwise.

Anyone else having this problem?

Welp, I got a flawed unit. I have some bad luck. I had a psp with a cluster of dead pixels at launch. I also had like 7 different Xbox 360s RROD. Now my switch has what looks like a black scanline. It isn't noticeable on every color, but it shows a lot with light colors. Here's a pic I took while aimed at the sky in BotW.

The picture doesn't show it well, but it's a black line going across the entire lower 3rd of the screen. Ugh

I was peeling and re-peeling the skins for a while when putting them on. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary. But I'll keep an eye out. If anything, I can always buy extra joy-cons later

My biggest gripe is that the switch itself has no personality. It's UI is boring compared to their past systems. The freaking mii maker is even stuffed away in settings and dosent play background music... the eshop as well etc,

Give me themes or something eventually...

I figured Nintendo would ship just as many copies of Zelda as they did Switch units so I pre-ordered the Switch and did not pre-order Zelda. Sure enough, I walked in to Best Buy and picked up a copy of Zelda and my reserved Switch. They were out of the Switch for customers that didn't reserve...

Yea I hate that too, but I believed themes and music will come later as paid add ons like the 3ds. Otherwise I'm loving this system

Uh oh. You might want to look up what's dbrand said about adhesives and the Switch today (it was the top of /all today). It destroys the coating. :(

Ended up getting a Grey Switch and here are my initial impressions.

The box for the system was way smaller than I thought. Was really surprised at how small it was. System itself looks fantastic, but included accessories blow ass. HDMI cable was about a foot too short for my set up. I have a 75" 4k Set and the Switch is on the right side, HDMI ports on the TV are on the left and cable was too short. Decided to put the Switch on the left side but then the power cord was too short to plug into my Panamax power box. Joy Con controllers are very small, I am a big guy and I don't see myself using them unless connected to the controller holder. Speaking of the holder, damn is that uncomfortable as a controller itself. Really bad ergonomics and does not feel right. My wife which is petite felt it was fine for her.

Pro Controller is great. A little on the thick side in the center, but it feels great and I really like it a lot. My favorite controller is the Elite Xbox One controller followed by the regular Xbox One controllers and this is very close to those and is just great.

I have not used the Switch as a portable other than the initial set up. I had ZERO issues connecting to my Wifi and no issues attaching or removing the Joy Cons from the tablet. Everything just worked great and smooth. I was able to download the day 1 system patch in about 1 minute or so, it was really fast. I have not used the Joy Cons themselves too much other than when I was using them after I had the tablet plugged to the TV and going through the set up, but then switched to the Pro Controller and attached the Joy Cons to charge.

UI is not bad, but WTF....WHY IS IT IN 720p??? I am literally shocked that they did this. Even my wife was saying "why does it not look a little clearer like the Xbox One or the PS4 Pro UI's? I really hope they patch this because it does not look that great. The UI itself is fine, navigation seems to be fine and overall layout is not too bad, basic typical Nintendo UI, but they have to get it to 1080p because there is no reason that it should be at 720p.

I have yet to play a game, about to launch Zelda and as it was downloading the patch I decided to make a quick post. Overall, outside of the 720p resolution, it seems like a solid piece of tech and very impressed with how well and smoothly things have gone so far.

Question: With Snipperclips game, can you use a pro controller and the joy cons in the controller holder to play or must you use the joy cons on their own? My wife wants to get the game and just curious if we can use the assembled controller and the Pro to play the game?

Will be back to post impressions of Zelda bit later.

Congrats. Always cool to see someone excited for this and happy to play!

Perhaps there is a thread for sharing friend codes? Or... someone can start one? I'm friendless on Switch, but.. I only have Zelda right now anyway. I do most of my gaming on other systems, but it would be nice to have friends to play with.

Is there voice chat with friends on the Switch yet? I'm friendless, so I haven't bothered to see where the options are or if it may indeed be limited to the phone app (which isn't out yet).

If this is the wrong place - I apologize in advance.

Happy Switch Day to all!

I can't believe we still have, what are essentially, friend codes and not usertags. And Nintendo wants us to pay for their online later this year? smh

Do I have to input my password every time I enter the eShop?
The first time I went to the eShop it asked me if I wanted to save my password. Are you not getting that prompt?
