So loving the shit out of this system so far, only a few minor gripes: no Bluetooth headphones support, needing a dock to play on television when a hdmi on the unit would be more versatile

All minor stuff, but my biggest complaint by far is the texture of the dpad on the pro controller. It's like a mix of cardboard and sandpaper

Cuz Nintendo. This brings up another point. Can you move games to and from the SD card? What If I wanna upgrade to a bigger card?

Go to controller settings on home
I'm so disappointed! I was gonna switch my play through from Wii U to switch on a friend's unit. Ugh what is it with these weird, cumbersome choices?

Does anyone know a good bag for college while also being able to house the switch in a safe/snug manner? I'm looking to get a new bag for the semester, so something that can handle my books/laptop and Switch would be great.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Cannot answer the question but for some reason this reminds me of image that said if you connect Switch to MacBook Pro, the Mac uses the Switch for charging instead, funny stuff.

No regrets after first day with the Switch, played Zelda for about 8 hours in total and really enjoy the game. Tried both portable and docked modes and it looks gorgeous on both, all my worries about low resolution were quickly blown away. Probably going to grab Pro Controller for docked mode sessions, heard high praise for it so interested in trying it out.
If someone in EU knows a place that sells tempered glass screen protectors, please let me know, I'd like to get one as soon as possible to minimize the chances of getting scratches at the sides of the screen.

Ah yeah I heard of that, I thought it was funny! I guess I will find out next week when I can borrow a USB C to USB 3.0 cable from a friend

And I found some glass screen-protectors on Amazon.de: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01N9RG3XS/

Has anyone had issues with HDMI switches? I tried plugging the dock into mine I use for all my consoles and I can't get it to output to TV, but as soon as I plug it in directly it works fine. It's not a huge problem as I can swap some inputs around, but I did like having all my consoles on the same input.

Yeah for some reason the Switch doesn't display anything at all with my cheap Hama mechanical HDMI switch while my PS4, PS3 and Wii U have no issues with it :/ The only way I can get it to display something on my monitor is by plugging it directly into it.

My guess is you have to do the option that allows you to delete the game and save the save file to internal memory, then switch SD cards and re-download the actual game.

North Face Router

This is the backpack I use, and I've got no complaints with it.

Using the parental app, do you need to keep it on even if you have no settings disabled? I don't like seeing that orange bar all the time but I'd still like to see my game tracking.

Started using just the joycons after a day of pro controller and at first I thought I wasn't going to be able to handle it, but they feel really really good when not attached. For playing Zelda at least I could not play it with them attached to the switch itself but they fit perfectly in my hand when on their own.

Can we talk about the handheld games? I keep worrying we wont see the same quality of handheld titles from devs that they would have put out if this was a 3DS 2.

Im hoping we continue to see 2D games and games that use text instead of voice acting.

Im also worried about the handheld market because I doubt people buy the Switch to take around with them as its too big.

Which makes me wonder if in 2 years, we'll see a slim version that makes portability more viable, or if Nintendo will sell a portable version as a separate purchase, which you can then upgrade to a home console at your leisure.

To me, the console isn't a 3DS successor until it does that, because it comes off as a home console that you can happen to take in bed with you.

Do people in this thread use it in their daily commute at all or what?

Indeed, I thought I would play most of Zelda with the Pro Controller, but freehand style with the Joy Cons is quite comfortable. Only problem is that it seems my knee is blocking the controller at times and causing the left Joy Con spaz out problem we've been hearing about. It's quite noticeable when it happens, but hasn't ruined the play experience yet.

Can someone remind me how to make an online user ID? I was very confused with my NNID and myNintendo account, which if Im not mistaken, aren't actual accounts for playing online?

Is it true that you can't transfer save data between switch units?
This was the deal breaker for me, I've had 3 defective units now and was tempted to keep the last one (noticeable dead pixel) until more stock was available for another exchange - but having the saves locked to the console makes this not worthwhile (I'm not putting hours into Zelda, to have to start again later in the month).

It's a shame as it's such a nice little system, its just got to many little flaws like this one.

This pic makes the gray look really good. I got the Neon, and sort of wish I had the gray now.

But I have kids so I decided to get the multicolored one...which now they fight over, so yeah, probably should have got gray.

It's also much more discreet, whereas the colored ones definitely make it look more toyish. Oh well, 1st world non-problem.

I've a preorder with Amazon UK for a Neon but I see that the Nintendo UK Store offer a two year Warranty so I might wait until they have stock.
I tried but I really want to experience Zelda BOTW.

All save files, regardless of digital or physical games, will be on the internal storage and locked there.

Still curious how we are supposed to charge everything. Is Nintendo's intent that we will just always dock it with the joycons attached when not in use? Mine will get minimal use, so I'm uncomfortable leaving it charging all of the time.

Why did you tell me about this flashlight trick?!

Just shined one on mine and yup... micro scratches scattered across the back.

God dammit Nintendo. That's... so fuckin' annoying. Advertise this great new device that can be a console and a handheld, wow! But if you use console mode you'll scratch the shit out of it, sorry.

YUP. Very annoying. Worst part is..What I'd safe to touch the back of this system? The dock will scratch it, a micro fiber cloth (!) Seems to scratch it. (Once looked at under light is when you can really notice.) ...Seems like the plastic or the coating on the plastic is not durable.

Also, the back of the switch does a speckled glittery look to it correct? Or am I going mad?

Hah you have the same game list as me! And I luckily only have the dock issue scratching mine, marked up my screen proctector pretty good...

Joy con seems okay at the moment.

I love the thing still so far, been mostly handheld since the dock wrecked the screen and I don't want any other issues.

Even played snipper clips with my 4yo son and he kept calling it the ice cream game lol. I honestly have had a blast with it so far. I really hope all this negativity is centralized to Gaf and hope this thing has legs. This design and idea are sound and this will need a few revisions (all around hardware/os) and the normal Nintendo support with some additional third party/outside developers and this is the Vita I always wanted.
Nice :D cute about your son as well lol.

Yeah, conceptually this is the most exciting console I've ever owned. I really hope it pays off for them and we keep getting amazing games. The indie line up this year looks fantastic, too.

So i've been following all the threads over the launch period and the hype is starting to tempt to pull the trigger.

I'm really keen to play Zelda but i've not owned a Nintendo console since the 64, but the idea of home/portable system is really appealing.

I have an Xbone and PS4 as well but i just can't decide beyond Zelda whether there is enough to justify the £280 plus £45/50 for Zelda.

I have many games to keep me busy on PS4 and xbox (Horizon currently keeping me very busy).

Anybody else in a similar situation?

Grey looks ok, but it's intentionally an ugly choice so they can sell black later on.

Yup I am right there with you. Own and xb1/ps4 but I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the N64 either.

I said when it was announced I would wait till black friday/holidays but the Zelda hype plus the Switch being a sexy looking system is getting to me. I personally dont even care to dock it...I am just super tempted to play Zelda in portable mode and since I don't own a Nintendo ds but have wanted one for a long time, the Switch just looks so appealing to me.

I might go check out some Best buys and Targets today and if they have stock, I might cop one with Zelda...yes I am weak :(

It's not charging all the time, unless Nintendo is back to pre-DS days in terms of that. Previous consoles/handhelds all stopped charging once the handheld/controllers battery is full, much like your typical smartphone, tablet, laptop etc. does.

It's a sad day. I'm returning my Switch. This is the first console I've ever given up on right at the start, but I can't deal. The joycons just won't stay connected. I've tried moving the system all over the place, disconnected my router, turned off my phone....it simply starts failing after 4 1/2 feet. By the time I get to my seating position it's unplayable.

I know people are saying to get a pro controller, but after all the money I just gave Nintendo, I shouldn't have to purchase additional hardware just to use it. Not to mention, I'd need two of them to enjoy multiplayer with my wife. I'm sorry, but no. Then there's the scratch inducing dock, and the fact that my saves are held hostage. It's just too much. I've bought every Nintendo system in history, and loved my Wii U, but Nintendo needs to take the L and make some changes before I invest again. If they address all of these issues I'll buy it again to finish Zelda, which was awesome for the brief time I had with it.

So I was one of the unlucky ones who had my order delayed from amazon. My switch won't even be here until Monday. I was pissed and emailed amazon and they gave me a month free prime, whatever. After listening to my friends all weekend playing and loving it and another friend walk into Walmart and pick one up no problem I emailed amazon again to say 1 month prime isn't good enough it was delayed 3 days. They responded with 30% back from my order so $89 off on my switch. I finally feel ok about everything now.

Possible you got a lemon. What is your set up? Are you trying to use the joycons near a tv?

I'm curious if you brought the Switch to a corner of a room without any other electronics if you used it in kickstand mode if you have the same connectivity issues.

Oh, that would be perfect. Wish we could get confirmation. Don't want to ruin the battery. Would like to get decent life out of it on the very rare occasions I will use it in portable mode.

Glad they made it right, I'm so sick of Amazons shit lately.

Anyone else's Kinivo HMDI switch going crazy with the Switched plugged in? First day seemed fine, but now it's shifting through inputs every couple of minutes, as if the Switch kept powering on and off.
