Who's getting Persona 5 for PS3?

That ship sailed after I got a PS4 late last year. Not planning on buying P5 right away, so I can wait for it to get a bit cheaper as well.

I already have a beefy PC and re purchased a ps3 just last year. So yeah I'm getting it for the ps3, I'd rather not spend 200£ or more to get a ps4 for just this game.

Plus it'll be cheap to buy compared to new games coming out.

You never sent it for repair ? You should :p my ps3 had a problem it took 3 days and I received a brand new one. (In Canada)

Is there a way to recover HD data from a dead Ps3? I still have my old one, in vain hope that I might get my Tales of Xillia and other saves back.

at this point I'll probably just trade it towards a Pro, idk I'm bitter about jumping through hoops when the only thing i did wrong was buying a PS4

Wait, the PS4 steelbook version is the same price as the regular version in Canada?

I wasn't going to get this first day, but between that and the Prime 20% discount...

Decisions!

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I have a PS4 Pro and unless the game gets some kind of 4K or 60 FPS upgrade on the Pro, I'll still probably get the PS3 version.

If it does not come to PC, maybe i'll get in on PS3 (buuut...i hate P3, so not sure about it)
It, like Atlus' other games, won't be coming to PC. Also, P5 is quite different from P3 and P4 before it (though those two were also distinct from each other).

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Isn't the PS4 version 1080p, and PS3 720p? I'd take that over PS3 version alone.

Yes, though the OP does mention it was designed for the PS3. There's no enhancements done to the graphics which means not all the textures will scale up well. The biggest advantage of the PS4 version is definitely the better loading I think, not that the PS3 loading sounds horrible but I heard you'll still be going between screens pretty often.

I hear you, unless it changed it now in the recent years it was absolutely pain free to send it for repair, you should you can always resell your console after to put the money towards a pro.

I was waiting for an agent like 5 minutes and the call took maybe 10 minutes. They send you a coffin box, you put the console in, you ship it (it's paid by them) and you just wait.

A poll would be interesting.

-Getting the PS3 version, no PS4.
-Getting the PS3 version, despite having a PS4.

It'd be cool to play on PS3 as its swan song before selling it or locking it away for eternities, but I plan to keep it and already have required hardware for the better version so I'll be going with that.

I am considering getting it for PS3 just to have pretty much the last PS3 RPGs released on the system. Separately I am getting PS4 SE version so PS3 one would be just to have on my shelf since I have vast majority of PS3 RPGs releases (minus Compile Hearts games and some of the iffy NISA ones).

My sister is. She doesn't play enough video games to warrant getting a PS4 but there's no way she's missing Persona 5 at launch.

I'm living in Japan right now and didn't bring my PS4 with me so I'm seriously considering buying a PS3/PS4 just so I can play the game when it comes out -- but I'm still not sure which version I'll get. If I want to be as cheap as possible, I'll go for PS3.

Not me, only time I'd ever choose to play on the PS3 over the PS4 is if there was no PS4 option. The download and install times a lone are enough for me, but I also don't currently have a headset that works on the PS3 either and I'd be using a DS4 regardless, so PS4 is a easy choice for me.

A year ago or so my answer would've been "Me", but now, not so much. That being said, from what I've heard there's really not much difference between the two versions. But I don't even have my PS3 connected anymore, so...

I'm getting it on PS3. I wish we also got Berseria's PS3 version in english. I'm just not interested in the PS4. I have plenty to play with Nintendo systems already, and I'll buy a Switch for Mario and Fire Emblem next year, probably.

PS3 was my first and only non-Nintendo system, I bought it to play the Tales games. I bought a few other stuff on it (JRPGs, MGS, Mass effect, TLoU, forgetting a few things) and while it was good fun, I don't feel like I'm missing that much by passing on the PS4 this gen.

Now that more japanese games release on steam, I'll just have to buckle up and build a budget gaming PC at some point to play stuff I've missed out on.

Thanks for the heads up! I changed my order to the steelbook!

Quick Prime related question. My Prime ends on March 28 and I don't plan on renewing it. Will the 20% discount and release day shipping stay intact for my Persona 5 preorder? The fine print says I need to have Prime at the time of order AND time of shipping to reap the benefits but I've read conflicting reports.

As far as I remember the steelbook version is exactly the same price as the normal retail version on Amazon no matter in which country you pre-order it. So if you want the game day 1 then there is no reason not to get the Steelbook version unless you can still snag a Collector's Edition (money-value proposition is insane considering all the stuff you get for just $20 more) somehow or prefer the retail version cover over having the IMO better looking looking steelbook.

I am because I haven't bought a PS4 yet. I was pretty happy to hear that impressions from the Japanese version indicated that it was a good version as well.

I don't have a PS4, so I'll likely buy it on the PS3. Glad to hear it sounds like a pretty good version.

I also bought Breath of the Wild on Wii U.

Playing on the PS3 because no PS4, but I will be collecting both games, just in case I ever want to replay on a stronger system. I really should get a PS4 though, I've had to cry myself to sleep for the past few months as I've missed out on the FFXV experience.

Probaby me, if I'll be able to get it later this year. No PS4 here, I mostly play on PC and still have a bunch of PS3 games to start.

I'd like a demo, though. The style looks cool, but I've pretty much stopped watching anime in the last 2-3 years. Don't know if this will click for me right now.

No. Just no...

And let's not pretend there are any advantages to getting the PS3 version except paying like 20$ less.

The only reason to ever get this on PS3 is if you don't have/can't afford a PS4.

$20 less is honestly a pretty decent reason for some, I would think.

I guess if you only have a PS3.

But I cannot see why if you have both consoles.

With the PS4 you have:

  • Standby mode
  • Remote play
  • Better loading
  • Easy screen capture and sharing
  • Native streaming support
  • Better controller
Seems like a no brainer.

Should be noted that streaming via share is blocked outside of the intro for Persona 5. :(

I thought I would have been one of them, but a rash of PS4 exclusives I care about (Project Diva, Digimon World, Gravity Rush, Last Guardian) combined with steep discounts on the hardware pushed me to finally pick up a PS4 last month.

Not me. I have a PS4 and I just can't get myself to play any games on the PS3 at this point mainly cause the PS4 just runs a lot smoother, is quicker, and does things like I don't have to quit the game to use Netflix. I mean it's all small things but it adds up to me not liking having to use the PS3 after being spoiled by the PS4.

I will be. I don't have a PS4 and am not particularly interested in getting one, despite being interested in a few games for it. I already have a PS3, and honestly for an RPG like Persona, the framerate won't bother me much.
