I don't know about Ferrari winning, but I feel like the gap will be a lot closer. That being said, reliability and avoiding accidents has gifted championships in the past.

Does this apply to the off-topic side? I was thinking more along the lines of sport events and similar things.

Community based OT's are usually sorted out within the community itself. I've been doing the F1 OT for the past couple of years, and I'm working on this years OT atm.

Seriously. I spend a lot of time in Community any way so it doesn't bother me.

I only visit the threads I'm subbed to in community, while people will just browse OT. The hope by being in OT is that a few more people see it and we expand the gang, rather than ending up a little insular and cliquey because nobody else ever joins.

What I love about the thread being in OT is all the new faces we see posting whenever a GP is going on.

It becomes a bit more of a closed thing when this is kept in Community for that reason.

I'm wondering how far McHonda will go this season before eating penalties

My main beef with community was that we ended up with separate threads for races in the main forum. Which was annoying. I generally check my subs when I log into GAF so I'd try talking about the race but then have to find the race thread which was in a different forum

I won't be surprised if they're on their 4th engine by the second race weekend.

With the engine token shit out of the window, can you imagine Honda investing incredible dollah in trying to fix their engine by the end of 2017 only for McLaren to GG out and grab a Mercedes customer deal?

And then they'll provide works support to some smaller team which starts winning races

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.

Why should they? The engine is already good for the top six. By the second race the FIA will probably change engine regulations to put some restrains to a massive Honda dominance.

So many headlines could be copy-pasted from last year, word for word.
I have no doubt that Ferrari has made a bigger step than Mercedes relative to last year, but the latter just needs to stay ahead in qualifying to profit from the difficulty of following, and that would seal in the results.
Plus I see Red Bull being much stronger in the long-term development race than Ferrari and they're more likely to steal points from Ferrari than from Mercedes.
I believe a lot of last years Ferrari hype was built on their 2015 encouraging results.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
Does anyone know how SSF1 UHD is delivered? Is it a new channel or an option on the current HD channel?

Nailed it!

These vibrating piston popping action car destroying stories are bullshit.

Hasegawa laid out all their testing troubles to the Japanese journos:

- unusual oil tank shape. shaped like a circlip to avoid the compressor, minor mistake made to inlet port

- dead cylinder caused by valvetrain electrical fault, non reoccurring

- drivability and power not at required levels

- harsh upshifts

- non PU issues, electrics cutting out when car hits the kerbs, water leak, oil leak (gearbox), battery issue

Have implemented reliability fixes and continue improve drivability and power output for Australia.

Both McLarens will qualify in the top six and score points 😎

Are we going to have a topic for each race ? Like last year, or just one topic ?

I would rather have just one topic, instead of one for each race.

I'm reliably told that more threads = more activity, which would be an argument in favour of having individual GP threads as well as the general community thread.

I'm all for expansion, but if we just end up getting more people that don't know how to have a civilized discussion it just erodes the enjoyment. They can save that attitude for the Autosport forum.

It's why a single thread in community sounds much more appealing to me. We all know what OT attracts.

The way a lot of F1 people are talking about Bottas he sounds like he's about to get Kovalainen'd or something. Please no.

The race is gonna be fun to see. But i really want to see the cars do a balls to the wall Q3 lap.

I'm more excited for the qualifying than the race. I expect the race to be a snoozefest with the durable tyres.

Were there any really memorable races in Melbourne?
It's not the best track for overtaking to begin with.

The first race there was pretty good with Villeneuve making his debut. Also, Montoya, Schumacher and Trulli had some pretty good action there in 2002.

Also, the law of Spain says that we'll get a different winner again this year. Bottas? Ricciardo? Some madman from behind the top three, Maldonado-style?

Remember, the law is so strong that it caused the two favorites to crash into each other and willed Max into the front last year.
