Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology announced - 3DS full remake + new scenario

Good game, but it doesn't seem to offer much for a remake. Art looks worse. I'm happy with the version I played.

The old artworks are perfectly fine. I don't understand why they don't just use those. Lost assets? The artist not available anymore? The ones in charge of the remake having a bad taste?

Don't worry guys. First editions of the game will come with a DLC code that lets you change the character portraits
to chibi characters lol

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Yeah... it's a "remake" for sure. Not sure if I want this.

Regardless of the character art change being good or bad... why do it at all, if the rest of the game looks the same? The new portraits aren't stereoscopic, are they?

The original artist and Headlock were connections to Radiata Stories, maybe they decided to break that connection just in case they want to make a sequel without them?

Sorry I just checked the actual Famitsu article.

Yes, first press versions of the game will get DLC to change character portraits to the chibi style ones designed by CHANxCO. They look pretty horrifying but cute. If you want the ORIGINAL DS portraits, you will need to buy the $100++++ LE. It includes a nice box, a full 2CD OST, a 100 page full color artbook, and a bunch of DLC stuff, most of which are undefined at the moment but including the ORIGINAL ART portrait DLC. Lol what a scam.

That's honestly a special kind of hilarious!

And here I thought P5 DLC/SE handling sucked. Atlus Janet shown us its true final form yet!

Edit: I really recommend folks just buy the DS version. It's cheap, it's great and not much changed here.

Wait, sorry if i'm misunderstanding something, but from what I read the first press versions of the game will have which artwork as the de facto one? None of them?

1. First press: New moe art + New chibi art
2. Expensive limited edition: New moe art + New chibi art + old regular art
3. Regular edition (after first batch sells out): New moe art

Really depends on whether they want the VA, difficulty options, and extra content. Don't know if I want this, probably won't get it. But if I hadn't played this before I'd definitely wait.

I wonder if the original art DLC would also include different portraits for the new characters. That would be... special.

Ugh...so basically no one will remember the original art in a few years time.

Anime was a mistake

I mean... I'll support it so we have a chance for more. It's one of my favorite games of all time. But I'm seriously irritated about them fucking up Eruca

I like the original character art but I was always annoyed that there was only precisely one portrait per character used throughout, even when the expression of that stock portrait didn't really fit the mood of the particular scene. If Atlus isn't even going to offer multiple portraits with the new art, they can take this "remake" and sod off.

Kinda reminds me of how they changed the artwork for the characters for the PSP Star Ocean 2 remake (among other more really annoying things) and how it just made the characters look a lot worse.

Judging by the chibi DLC portraits up there, there are most likely various expressions this time around. There's that, at least.

Hmmm, was hoping for a new game as I had already 100% the game on the DS, but I'll take a new scenario.

Edit: Just looked at the new artwork, and yeah, a downgrade. It goes without saying that graphically it's better, but the style from the original is 100x better. It's a good thing there's DLC for that (hope it's free), but really, the original should have been in the game and the chibi crap should have been DLC. Like, c'mon, how did they look at the original and think "yeah, we should totally do chibi artwork of the characters."

Edit 2: Oh, the chibi crap is only free for the first print? And the good original portraits are only available in the expensive LE? lol

God damn it. I've recently bought the DS version, but haven't started it yet.

The game is amazing, easily worth buying twice...

1. First press: New moe art + New chibi art
2. Expensive limited edition: New moe art + New chibi art + old regular art
3. Regular edition (after first batch sells out): New moe art

...uh, yeah, on second thought, you've got all you need with that DS version.

What the fuck, Atlus?

It was so easy.

Just take the artwork.

Make it high res (lol "high res" 3DS 240p).

Done.

But noooooo.

I absolutely loved how dark and inky the old art was. The new art looks generic by comparison. The low res sprites and textures are certainly rough but if they're not really doing anything about that and they don't even include the old portraits then I'm not interested.

I just bought a New 3DS and was in the process of tracking down the DS version of this. What are the odds of a localization?

Oh Atlus... why must you make my life hard.... I was going to buy it when I saw "Radiant Historia" on it but..... no.... why must you change / 'upgrade' (nooooooooooooo) the original character designs....

So... keep the shitty RPGmaker sprites, change the awesome watercolor portraits?

They really did get it backwards, lol (though I don't think the sprites are that bad).

Part of me says that it's just pure ignorance on their part, and another part of me says they know exactly what they're doing by making the original portraits part of the LE, and presumably paid DLC later on.

I loved Radiant Historia on DS, so I'm gonna buy this, but certainly not day 1 at full price.
