I spent months trying to come up with something for Ben. The Batman that I know and the one I learned is the one that Christian did, and Ben plays it differently. And I can’t quite shake that off. For me, the Christian Bale character was always completely unresolved. It was always about that moment at the beginning of the first movie, where he sees his parents getting killed. It was basically arrested development. The Ben character is more middle-aged, he seems to be grumpy as hell but I didn’t feel the pain that I felt in Christian’s performance. And it was that pain that made be interested.

Can't catch a W media for anything

I liked Affleck as bats, I just wish he'd get a script where he gets to play someone who enjoys what they do from time to time, like Bale did for at least the first two nolanverse films.

Could your thread title have been any more misleading?

It's the title of the vulture article.

Eh, it's alright. Gives someone else a chance to shine hopefully.

Personally I enjoy Afflecks take on the character. The guns thing doesn't make sense, but I blame that more on Snyder. Keep Grumpy Bats and gives no fucks Alfred.

Yeah, he's written a bit weird

"He has the power to wipe out the entire human race, and if we believe there's a ONE percent chance that he is our enemy we have to take it as an absolute certainty... and we have to destroy him."

20 min later

"Wait, you're mom's name was Martha too? Everything's gucci now mane"

I love Bale and all, but it'd be jarring for me to see him battling Darkseid or whatever after watching him in the Nolanverse.

Like, I know it's a different universe, but still, haha.

I though Affleck did a pretty good characterization, but ultimately, I don't know what drives the guy. He was all concerned about the power of superhuman gods over the common man, but now he's done a complete 180 on that because of some fever dream where The Flash (a guy he doesn't know or trust) told him that Lois Lane is the key to saving the future.

I just... I want these movies to be good. I'm a fan. But they've felt very aimless so far. Here's hoping that a course-correction is still possible, because I'd really like these films to be better.

Affleck's Batman is fine, but it's not really surprising that he feels his character/iteration doesn't really have an emotional core to build off of. He's only "starred" in one movie and that one wasn't even really about him.

Batman Begins still tells one of the best superhero origin movies/stories.

Maybe Ben isn't as good as Nolan as to not just getting to the coolness of Batman but also the emotional core.

There are reasons why the most powerful moments of the Nolan trilogy are the emotional ones rather than the epic looking ones.

Bale's Batman is basically seen as a joke these days.

If you want to hype up his Bruce Wayne that's another thing but his Batman was always the worst part of those films.

I didn't like the way Batman was written but Affleck was perfect. He just needs a better script. And I didn't feel like Zimmer's work suffered from his lack of connection to Ben's performance. The suite that opens BvS is his best superhero work alongside the MoS theme imo.

Read this a few weeks ago. Lol its like you were actively looking for some recent dampering news on dc.

Anyways he's right about Bales performance being much more. The thing with affleck is that he touches on some great beats on the surface level. Like he looks like the best Bruce Wayne. And all the words coming out of his mouth are right, his suit rocks and he can look pretty angry but at the end of the day it just ain't as good as Bale did it.

But eh. Prolly gonna have to wait til batman solo movie for anything of substance regarding him honestly. Justice League won't be it either. Snyder is great at iconography and action more than anything else.

I didn't hate Batfleck. I think Affleck hated Batfleck.

I don't know what they'll do going forward if Affleck is out.The Christian Bale Batman was essentially in his own universe. Unless they go back to that and completely ignore the recent DC movies.

I think this is a bit unfair. Three movies for Bale for himself, half a movie for Affleck.

Also this, kinda disappointed in Slayven.

Zimmer didn't even really compose the music for Affleck's Batman, that was Junkie XL, and it was largely noise anyway.

I agree that Affleck's Batman had less of a character, but I blame that more on the story/script. Turning Batman into a cold blooded killer is never really a good idea.

You can just go off Batman Begins, but yeah we can't fully judge until the solo Batman film comes out because Snyder doesn't get Batman on a deeper level. It's why I speculated.

At the end of the day though he came up with something pretty fantastic for Bruce with that motif that plays during the wayne murder and when he's running towards the rubble in metropolis

Batfleck is best Batman.

This doesn't have anything to do with the actors though, but the directors.

It's just he was obsessed over Superman being a killer and knowing he had a mother that was about to die just like his did kinda brought him back from this obsession and made him realize he's human just like him.

Lol okay

I definitely prefer Bale to Batfleck, but Ben was good though. I'll be interested to see more from him.

Nah. Bale is still the standard bearer for live-action Batman. The good parts of the Affleck Batman were the sequences performed by his stunt double.

Hahah what you are as high as your profile pic. Mainstream says nothing can top Bale and Dark knight Trilogy
