1 Punch Man

I haven't found an anime I liked for over a decade. I've just been watching the same five for years. Other people told me to try other stuff, but I just didn't like it and thought I wouldn't even be able to enjoy another anime series, but I saw One Punch Man on Netflix last night and decided to give it a try.
Oh shit! I like it. I actually like it a lot. I halfway came in expecting to hate just because of the image of Genos, who I mistook trying to be hard edge, but I was wrong. I heard the concept over the net so I wasn't completely going in blank. I thought the first episode was okay, but why did his entire face changed after his training? His chin got round and his eyes are half circles. He doesn't look like the same person at all. That first episode was okay, but the 3rd kept me. I think the weak point was him taking up a disciple and hearing him being called sensei.

This show is pretty damn funny and has some intense action. I like how One Punch Man cuts off villains when they're monologuing, that shit does get tired sometimes and how he effortless defeats everyone is so dope.
In episode 12 I was surprised it actually took him more than one hit to beat that alien. I knew he still would've won.

Yo, when Mumen Rider first showed up
I thought that dude died. I mean he was on the floor with blood leaking through his helmet. It killed the comedy when it revealed he was still alive at the end of the episode.

Speaking of which, the Hero Association is pretty cool. A lot of colorful characters in it and I suspect a few of them might actually be villains. I wish Genos got a bit more wins, he basically only got 1 this season.

Pretty good shit though all around. I just wish there was an English dub and that the black guy wasn't drawn like that. I assume there's a season 2 already, but it's just not on Netflix.

Now what's the next step in your master plan?
There is an English dub, it was shown on Toonami. Not sure why Netflix doesn't have it up. Season 2 isn't out yet and will be later this year I believe.

Oh and the Dark Shine's origin story is something else.

Still can't get over how they decided to go with "Mumen Rider" over "Licenseless Rider." Like come on, I get that it's a Kamen Rider reference, but barely anyone is going to get that.

That's funny as I noticed even the subtitles at times and can be delayed by several seconds.

Ha, weird I literally just put the first episode on right before seeing this thread. Watching it now - my dad says it's good.

Anyone seen any issues with the subs for OPM on Netflix? I watched through it as soon as it came up, and i noticed there would be moments where there would be no subs when there was dialogue, and one entire episode where the timings of the subs were completely off. I was watching it on my PS4, so I can rule out something weird browser-wise, but I just wanted to know if anyone on here also happened to have noticed the same issues.

Netflix Canada btw

His expression represents how bored he is. He explains how much of life he doesn't enjoy anymore since he's become so powerful.

^Yeah, that shit was hilarious!

Licenseless Rider sounds dumb. Mumen rolls off the tongue better.

This show has great animation btw. I love the drastic changes in style with Saitama's facial expressions.

Curious what is to happen with the anime considering the state of the manga release at the moment. The arc I would assume would finish the second season isn't finished yet and ONE apparently has taken a bit of a break and no one is sure how long it will go.

I saw it on Netflix too and tried it. Thought it was okay. Animation was good, got pretty boring though (which I guess is the dilemma of being a One Punch Man). Chuckled a little at the subverted monologuing villains and just the villain/hero intros in general-- very dramatic, then instantly defeated. Only it happens every episode so...

Had a flamboyant gay panic character, which it would be nice if they started leaving out in TYOOL 2010+.

Glad it was only 12 episodes.

e: And yes there is one ep where the subs are desynched on Netflix.

One of the funniest things about the adaptation is that it is just plain parody yet the action looks better than pretty much anything doing it seriously.

edit: and yeah, Mob looks even better.

I saw the first few minutes of the first episode before I quit. I disliked it.

I'd actually say its better than One Punch Man by a decent margin. Its subverts a ton of expected cliches all over the place and even more visually arresting than One Punch Man. Its really damn good.

yeah i thought he was gonna be much more major. his scene on the crowded sidewalk was real good. where he got his sword bit in two.

......did you even get to the part where it introduce the main character?

Also seeing you watched OPM, you should know by now to give his work more than 1 episodes. MP100 is considered to be better than OPM by a large margin as it has an actual story, unlike the latter which constructed more as a parody.

It's supposed to sound dumb. He's a hero whose only defining trait is that he rides a bicycle because he doesn't have a motorcycle license.

You really need to watch more than 1 episode of Mob Psycho. I showed it to my brother and after the first episode he was like "what the fuck is this shit?" but ended up enjoying the series at the 3rd episode.

It's great and the animation is even better than OPM's.

leave mumen rider alone, he has one of the best special attacks in the whole show.

His name sounds dumb but we all know that deep down he's the most heroic hero in the OPM universe.

The 'serious' sparring session scene between saitama and genos, so good :D
Yeah, that was the episode with the subtitle delay. I would've enjoyed it more, but that was distracting.
