What game do you think had the worst multiplayer launch?

I'll echo the Halo MCC comments. The worst launch for any game that I can recall. It still does not work as promised. Absolutely inexcusable.

From what I hear, Halo collection. From what I've experienced, Driveclub and Twisted Metal PS3.
I've experienced both the MCC and DC at launch... DC was worse, especially when you consider the design. MCC is a little flaky still though whereas DC is pretty good.

Lot of Driveclub mentions, I didn't pick it up until well after launch so I had a very smooth experience. Guess it goes to show that sometimes we have to be cautious around launch windows because so many games can be affected by poor server rollouts and other issues.

As far as genuine negative impact on the IP? without question it's MCC. As far as just brokenness in general goes? I'm not sure. That's a tough one. there've been some real doozies over the years

SFV. Server disconnect when the game came out, maintenance did nothing and when S2 came out, the game was back to its unplayable state.

Toss up between BF4 and MCC.

I guess MCC would take the crown, since at the very least DICE LA got BF4 into a wonderful state (albeit months after launch), whereas MCC never got the fix it deserved.

SP is also MP

Yea I would say for me it was D3. I couldn't play it until like 2 days after release and even then there were queues and shit.

Please tell/link the story :D

I joined the game late and it was my first MMO.

It was my third MMO and i was relatively young. I remember that it was a total disaster and it was impossible to play during the first weeks.

Here (at the end of the article) a recount of the events:

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013...ve-worst-pc-game-launches-that-arent-simcity/

It was infuriating, i had a fairly good pc but i had to struggle with 10-15 fps, constant disconnection etc...

It's why i laughed at people who were complaining about WoW launch...

Battlefield 3 would be worst pc launch, drivers on both nvidia and amd cards would crash endlessly. Game took months to become stable

Not to mention the punkbuster and server joining issues. You could waste 30mins try joining a server, just for the game to crash and forced to restart your pc.

Halo MCC - You already know why
Halo 5 - Game released barebones with no content compared to previous Halo Releases, Shitty Aiming, UnFinished UI

SOCOM Confrontation, then Battlefield 4. I ended up giving up on SOCOM before they even got their shit together so I don't know if they ever fixed all their problems.

SOCOM was sent to die when PSN was hacked and down for like a month. I think Twisted Metal was another casualty of that.

Yep.

Such a shame. Well Socom 4 had major design flaws too, but that outage destroyed any chance of it ever having a chance.

Wasn't it like the day after it came out?

In my experience, Twisted Metal on PS3. And it never got fixed.

This, twisted metal was as close to "absolutely unplayable" as you could possibly get

Finding and getting into a room was hard enough, but there was nothing to force the host to start the match, so hosts would be afk or just leave rooms open for fun.

So even if you managed to get into a lobby, good luck figuring out if you caught a bunch of people in between matches, if someone is afk, or if a match full of people suddenly has an afk host.

When you fucking finally got into a game? Perfect! Exactly what I wanted. TM ps4 had tight ass controls and it was sick. Matchmaking was impossible. And never got close to fixed.

Bloodborne? Multiplayer didn't work at all even in the network test and up until the day one patch. It was extremely rare to connect to players for coop or PvP for a good while after.

MCC. Because still to this day there are points where I cannot find a match in any playlist, yet I see streamers getting into a game instantly.

Battlefield 3 and 4..but 4 was the worst i have ever experienced in a long long time.

Oh yeah and Black Ops 1 on PC was also a fucking mess at launch, took weeks before it became playable.

Brink. Didn't it launch at the ApocalyPS3 PSN outage?
I think you're thinking of homefront, which also crashed and burned on launch. Brink just had the worst server implementation of all time and games could never be made or completed with bad netcode. Community dropped it super quick. Got Titanfall out of it though.

Street Fighter V and Halo MCC were both trash for 6+ months after launch. I'm pretty sure SFV is still fucked up.

Diablo 3 PC was so shit i cant even believe how did theydidnt stress test that shit

Twisted metal was garbo and killed series , it even had long beta ffs

Street Fighter V is probably the worst I've experienced. Finding a simple ranked match could take me upwards of 30 minutes and the lobby system was so broken that I couldn't even search for them, let alone join them. The lacking single-player content at launch only exacerbated the issue.

A lot people played. BF3 just fine i didnt had any problem ,maybe spesific to your PC?

It even had long ass beta (arbeit with bugs but no errors or something)

Driveclub. The bad launch rep really hurt an otherwise excellent game and ultimately destroyed the devs. Easily the saddest thing in recent gaming history.

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
MCC was bad, but people saying that have short memories.

Driveclub and it's not even close.

That was an entire game ruined by what happened in that first month.

Funny enough, the game that for me got progressively worse was Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart DS. Launch was glorious and MKWii got infested with hackers and DS got a lot of ragequitters and then the hackers.

I remember Lord of the Rings Online launch being fucking horrible.

They unlocked the servers a few days early but for a lot of people it took well over a week to be able to play.
