"Looking for Group" on Xbox is an incredible feature and needs more noise/respect

"Looking for Group" is a recent feature on Xbox that lets you make posts looking for people to play with.

For example, I've been playing tons of Gears Of War 4 Horde lately... and I've pulled off 50 consecutive waves TWELVE times in the past two weeks, with 5-man groups that all have microphones, just based off finding randoms via "Looking for Group". And FIVE of those twelve sessions of 50 consecutive waves of Horde were done on Insane difficulty. And a couple more on Hardcore difficulty.

To me this is unprecedented and demonstrates the intrinsic value of this incredible feature.

There's no way I would've met the same number of proficient and like-minded players going through normal matchmaking.

Looking for Group is basically saving Horde for me. Not that it needed saving but I'm a really impatient person and I didn't want to have to deal with random people on matchmaking. But Looking for Group let me find people immediately (no waiting) who have microphones, want to do certain maps, and want to play 50 consecutive waves of Horde.

It's amazing - one time our group was playing hardcore difficulty and we were struggling on wave 38. So I made a Looking for Group post saying "On wave 38 on Impact, need 1 engineer". And within minutes some good Samaritan responded to our post, joined up, and helped us out big time all the way to Wave 50.

And remember - that person didn't respond to some forum post outside of the Xbox. This was all within the Xbox OS. Pretty crazy. Love this feature.

It's a life saver for Destiny's raids, I don't know if I'd still be playing Destiny if not for this feature.

I read that some ultra indie niche cheap games has active communities thanks to the feautre.

Is a big addition for the xbox

Its a great feature but like most things with MS its too little too late, they are always going to be playing catch up. I just hope they dont drop out of the race, that would be bad for us all.
How is that too little too late. This feature is only on Xbox.

A 'Looking for Games' feature would probably be more helpful on Xbox at this point
What the fuck are you talking about? You act like all these games are dead on Xbox or something. Outside of small niche indie games majority of the games used for LFG are still thriving fine. It's just a nice feature for matching up with people similar to your skill/objective.

Need to start using this feature more. My inherently anti-social nature means I hate playing with randoms and I think that's what put me off using the LFG feature so far.

???? What's that got to do with anything OP is talking about?

I was looking forward to this for Destiny but then I kinda dropped the game.

Wasn't sure if this feature ever took off but it sounds like it is working well for you guys.

Nope I'm not in the preview program and I've been using it extensively.
Oh I thought it was still, not sure why it's so quiet then. It is a good feature even though I've never used it

This is becoming pathetic

this is a joke, please don't get angry

This got me.

It does sound like a great feature though and I've heard next to no talk about it. That seems to be common this gen though. All of Sony's shareplay stuff is pretty cool too and no one really seems to talk about it.

This feature is pretty much the only way to play Horde mode, don't worry about seemingly hyperbolic saying that, it's the damn truth. Otherwise you get people quitting/afking after dying or losing a round. I once had 3 people quit after we died once in wave 49, before I stared using this feature

I love this feature. Nice to have a global feature like this when other games don't build it into their multiplayer.

Well, I don't know why I'm surprised this happens anymore with an Xbox threads on GAF, but every..single...thread?

He's probably referring to the clan features on PS4.

This feature is awesome, but Sony does have a similar feature called User Scheduled Events where you can schedule gaming events with friends, or share them to any of the PS4 gaming communities if you want to play with randoms...It was part of the 3.50 update. So this isn't a totally exclusive feature...but it's a great feature nonetheless..

nekkid

It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
As an XBOX one owner I am entitled to feel dissappointed with how they have managed their console this gen.

If you feel offended by that it's on you. Should have known better than to post my thoughts in a thread like this, will delete my post and leave the thread since my thoughts arent allowed here.

It's just irrelevant to the topic. Take it elsewhere, along with your "woe is me" attitude.

Lots of Xbox bashing going on these days. The console has gone from bad to pretty good now and we best hope they keep it up.

A Sony only console space would not be good for anyone.

Honestly didn't know about this (don't really use the community features on PS4).

Go take it to one of the dozen Microsoft State of the Union threads then instead of shitting up this one then crying when you get called out on it.

tried it out on Division and was pretty great!

side note the clubs/groups thing kicks in too

I joined a group with a high players and there posts show up on the party tab, pretty neat

Sounds like a great idea. I hope Sony do something similar. I don't think we can rely on game devs implementing decent LFG features on a game-by-game basis, and 3rd party LFG websites are never very popular, especially if you don't play in the evenings during USA-time.

PS4 already has something similar iirc

No one is taking away your right to complain. But this is a thread about a new, useful feature and OP is spreading awareness of it.

Seems like a poor place to come in and start complaining about X1, in general. A lack of features like LFG has little to do with the current gen console war, I'd wager.

It is true that there is not another way to finish horde than using this.

Is cool, I met lots of guys, but stoped playing horde since it takes a shitload of time

its amazing to find people with mics or games on lower populated stuff.

Even with Rainbow Six Siege or Smite that are hugely popular you can find a great squad (tho they can be picky).

The groups for games is fantastic too.

It's so much better than a simple community channel the way they have integrated it.

Certain things is great

But I just want to meet and play with new Xbox one players for rocket league

But every LFG post is just

Want to trade?

Like there's an offficial fucking website for trading for gods sake

PS4 already has something similar iirc

Communities on the PS4 needs a serious revamping. It's terrible now compared to other options.

It's a rad feature that I don't use enough. I should use it for Horde because I was getting tired of the wave 20 bailers and stopped playing.

Fair comment, I removed my posts. Sorry to anyone who was pissed off with what I said.

The feature is awesome, I was going to give up playing Gears Horde mode cause people would drop adter 10 and 20 but this changed things, now you can group with commited players.

When did Xbox get something like this? How do you get to it? I don't really use my Xbox much anymore but it was annoying trying to play Gears horde and have everyone quit every time. Every system should have something like that. Good job MS.

It is truly great. Such an easy way to set up and join raids in Destiny. Never would've been able to experience them otherwise.
