MadCatz sticks were never good, it was the xsplit conundrum, where the product that has to scream the loudest and shove the most advertising dollars down every twitch streamer's throat is "low-key" worse then its competitor
While yes, the TE line was advertised a lot, you may be selling Mad Catz's sticks a bit short. My friend's TE (for the 360) is still working to this day, albeit with some button & JLF changes along the way (but that's to be expected).

sucks when a stick maker goes down. that's all i ever needed from them, can't speak for anything else they've made.

hopefully someone else can fill the void.

lolno, I still use my madcatz te ps3 stick to this day, with almost daily usage, for 8 years now.

End of an era. I'm going to miss them! I still use my Namco TES stick and love it dearly. IMO, their sticks were the best.

They spent a lot of years being known for making shitty pads, but then Street Fighter IV came out and their sticks elevated the company to new heights. Everything they made after that got better. Not everything was top shelf, but the days of having a 50/50 chance of even working were firmly behind them.

Sad but....can I get an arcade stick on discount pls?

Newegg had the TE2+ for $150 a couple weeks ago. I stacked that deal with a Discover Card promo for $90 in cash back to get a $100 Groupon gift card, then used that Groupon gift card to get $110 in Newegg gift cards. Essentially was $130 for me.

If anyone at MadCatz is reading this: Is there any way to get replacement fightpads? I have went through so many Mad Catz fightpads, and I'd be happy to send in the 4 i still hold on to for some reason for a replacement.

Damn, that really sucks. Their sticks are great, which was really weird for me to wrap my head around because their controllers were such shit for so long. And they seemed like they really cared about the FGC.

So where would one buy arcade sticks now that they're not around to make them? Don't they basically make all of them in the US?

They had one good run of sticks with the TE / TES line but otherwise they made nothing but junk for their entire history. At this point, it's not a huge loss.

The real loss is everyone without a job. Bummer for them for sure.

The original TE Round 1 and Round 2 sticks are one of the best sticks around. I've been rocking my TE Round 2 since 2011, no inside parts have been changed and it's still going at it with 0 issues. I'll have to get a PS4 stick eventually, but I can vouch for the TE line. Don't know how good their SFxT sticks were though, I liked the metal ones.

RIP, now I feel extra bad for having sold off my TE

SF4 TE sticks had the best parts in the market and were easily modable. They were basically the best out of the box sticks you could get with the only disadvantage being that they weren't cross plat.

I'd go for the Chun-Li TE2. There have been numerous reports of the TE2+ & TES+ having PCBs that act up.

How can you tell if the PCB is acting weird? I have the TE2+ on PS4 but don't use it a whole bunch.

My 360 TE stick still works like a charm

There's a lot of stick manufacturers now. Including Hori which used to not have a lot of worldwide presence back when MadCatz got in the stick market.

There were a number of reports in the Arcade Stick thread. My friends dodged the bullet with their TES+'s, so I suppose that it's not a universal problem. But with Mad Catz closing their doors, I'm not sure if people want to take any risks. notworksafe could probably give you more of the details.

End of an era. Feels like yesterday when I purchased their 16x capacity GC memory card; that thing was a godsend. And of course their arcade sticks were a great deal too.

I suppose there really is no more room for a company like MadCatz in the industry.

I had a friend in high school who had an uncle that worked at mad catz. He would give my friend test versions of controllers they were developing. If y'all thought their finished products were bad you have no idea.

Sanwa parts are still Sanwa parts.

Say what you want in regards to MadCatz, but there is no denying Sanwa Denshi makes some of the best joysticks and buttons in the business and are industrial use grade and are the very same buttons and joysticks used predominantly in Japanese Arcade machines.

The very same stick and buttons that were also in MadCatz TE line of Arcade Sticks.

Only Seimitsu and Suzo Happ / IL come close in comparison. I find it a highly dubious statement to say that Madcatz sticks were "never good" factoring the usage of Sanwa parts.

No edge, just my opinion.

Do you consider the best of what Hori offers to be close to Mad Catz best?

On topic: I hope all employees land on their feet.

Yes, I consider both of their best very close to each other. Nothing in the range of "not even close".

No, I think if they stuck to arcade sticks and controllers, they could have flourished.

They could have created Elite style controllers for the big three.

Sorry for the individual employees etc, but fuck the company tbh. Some of the worst support around, my GG TE2 2 didn't close right when I got it so I sent it to them and those fuckers kept it like three months. Not to mention that shit was expensive for the overall lackluster quality.
