Super Skrull and Skrulls are usable by Marvel and Fox jointly, Kl'rt is Fox only due to F4.

Annihilation though...it's just a dream :-(

I was referring to Kl'rt. I know all of that, and I know Kl'rt is Fox-only, but so was Ego until Marvel got him in exchange for Fox changing Negasonic Teenage Warhead's powers in Deadpool.

Annihilation is doable, just never with Silver Surfer and Galactus. But considering what Marvel has done with Planet Hulk, I doubt they would be hindered by that.

'Pass the zucchini' from Ultron will live in infamy.
Can't say I recall specific examples from Avengers 1 though. I generally Like Whedon's dialogue however.

Loki calling Black Widow a Mewling Quim automatically puts Avengers in the top tier...And Whedon for getting away with it.

If you'd said to literally anyone ten years ago that the director of Slither was going to turn out two massive blockbuster hits I think you'd have been sectioned. Gunn laughing all the way to the bank

Not just two massive blockbuster hits. Guardians of the Galaxy, of all things.

After they other movie, this week be a nice comeback for Chris Pratt.

I think that we collected enough evidence last year to conclude that Chris Pratt isn't much of a box office draw on his own. Passengers did alright given the poor reviews, but was nothing special. Magnificent Seven made regular Denzel action movie cash.

He adds to these big franchises since he is likeable, but there's not much evidence that he's going to be the next Harrison Ford or Will Smith.

The "humans are so tiny and petty" line. Granted that's mostly because it looks like the camera man almost dropped the camera during the take.

Tracking for Batman v Superman was $120-140M at the beginning of March, a year ago. It opened to $166M.

Most Superhero films do seem to hit or exceed their initial tracking. I know that Age of Ultron was the MCU exception. That was widely pegged to at least break $200M, and perhaps take the opening record. It instead made $191M. The other two recent ones I can think of are Fantastic Four and X-Men Apocalypse.

We will get updated tracking the week leading to release, when hype is in full swing. That late tracking is more likely to be missed. For instance, Disney was the only one sticking to a <$180M opening for Civil War the week of release, and Suicide Squad tracking got up into the $140M range (the actual opening was $134M).

DC could have pulled $200 mill+ if they got good reviews,

I'm pretty sure Fox owns the rights to Annihilus and is unlikely to ever give him up considering he's such a big F4 villain.

I don't doubt supes and bats got that potential, but as I recall, the reviews were embargoed until one or two days before release, which is pretty late so I doubt they'd make much of a difference initially. Obviously WOM had a big impact soon after.

10 more days before I get to see this. Good thing the day after is a public holiday so I don't have to worry about sleeping late.

Any ideas when the reviews will start dropping? Civil War had them dropping a few weeks in advance.

If they're glowing it could bump estimates a decent amount.

Australia is getting the film on the 25th, so I would guess late next week or that Monday (the 24th).

Yeah, $150m-ish ow seems about right. Could see it going above that even and matching TDKR or BvS.

Marvel tend to lift their embargo for the big films about 3 weeks before, I think, for precisely that reason.

I still can't believe they are fucking it up this badly.

If you had told me ten years ago that Batman vs Superman would make less money than Captain America vs Iron Man, I would have laughed in your face.

Ten years ago Batman Begins and Superman Returns were comfortably behind Spider-Man, though.

Nice. I was predicting $140 personally. If feel the marketing for vol 2 has been pretty low-key considering what a hit the first was. It seems like they are selling it like "You know the characters, humor, and music you liked from the first film? This is more of that."

I could definitely see hype ramping up the closer we get to the film release, but regardless of the opening, I see this film having pretty great legs once again, just because I think Gunn has been saving most of the surprises for the film. Somewhere in the $900M range WW seems pretty plausible, $1Bn isn't out of the question.

There's like seven commercials in rotation on TV.
