Did you give Linde Blarblade+? I've been running my +SPD/-DEF Linde with Aura (don't have the feathers to promote Odin to 5* and don't want to run regular Blarblade with its low Might) and not been impressed by the results. It seems like all i see in Arena these days are teams with at least 2 of the following:

Hector
Nino
Julia

Lucina w/ 40+ SPD (+SPD IV with Fury or Life and Death)
Ryoma w/ same as above
Eirika w/ same as above

Takumi

and Linde either dies to or fails to ORKO all of them. Hector, Nino, and Julia are obvious counters, but the fact that Linde can't even ORKO reds (her one job) due to their high SPD rankles. Also she's so squishy that neutral Takumi one-shots her, so i have to have Desperation up in order for her to kill him.

I've gone back to running Kagero until I can get around to getting Blarblade+ on Linde, but i've invested a lot of time into Linde grinding SP, so if there's a build without -blade to make her viable i'd love to hear it.

Linde's durability problems are definitely an issue, so she is kind of overrated. She still gets clean kills on several melee units, but her useful has dropped dramatically in this environment. I even swapped her out for Nowi to get my current streak. Blarblade+ would make her good on defense with the right team support, but I won't make 5* Odin just to do it.

I will still use Linde to get Hero Merit and extra SP. I wasted a lot on sub-optimal skills, but I at least put Desperation 3 onto her. As you said, you don't want her eating damage from ranged threats. Therefore, it's pretty crucial B skill for her.

Fortunately for you, Sanaki is not common. My Sanaki absolutely rapes Nino and Hector, so that is why she has become a mainstay.

Raising 3* palla and est is pretty painful for a couple orbs. Got them to near 30 but it gets worse as the level goes up. I don't intend to SI these, and not sure if it is worth my time. Palla after this will be let go for moonbow.

I beat five level 35 enemies using a 3* Est at level 27, so the grinding is actually not as bad as it seems.

Boo you can't give Linde Dire Thunder. Guess that would be OP lol.

Now I got a 5* Reinhardt (+SPD/-RES), Nowi, Linde, Robin, Hinoka+2. Too many blues, not sure he replaces any of those.

What's a good Reinhardt build? I'm reading Death Blow. He'll be fun for horse emblem, my only 5* horse.

I would say he replaces MRobin killing Takumi and others. Death Blow and Luna is all it took for me.

Lol Troll Emblem, someone had Wings of Mercy on Nino on arena defense with Ninian on the team as well. I'm gonna have to start checking skills before engaging.

...would said team also have had Sharena and Lucina? Because if so, I'm sorry. A little sorry. Did it work?

Hah! It was! See if you defended against rarbusto. Fortunately it was only my 4th match.

I was in good position but my Nino didn't one shot Sharena since I'm not using Eirika. Had everyone out of range of rebuttal, including Nino and your Nino warped in and took out my Nowi. I spite killed the rest of your team but Ninian then surrendered since I'm going for a perfect run.

I'd say it's useful if you want to catch people and hope for a surrender, but it puts Nino way into the open. I finished off Sharena the next turn with Nino, slid in with Roy to kill your Nino and then just finished off Lucina who was way behind with Roy the next turn and had Ninian pinned by Nino and Cecilia.

Hm. My Linde is -HP, +DEF and I don't find her that bad off against Takumi, at least compared to basically any other glass cannon mage, but I guess this combo does actually net her +1 effective health vs physical (50 ATK needed to OHKO vs 49) which I hadn't realized until this post.

I can understand not being sold on seal attack. It all depends on how you are going to use them. If you know there are threats that your team can't 1-round, having someone who can go in, get some damage and drop their attack so no one will die that turn means a lot for arena.

Yeah, I don't think it's that bad of an option after going through a bunch of sims with the regular suspects. For anything that's opening up on someone and not expecting to one-shot everything and isn't already getting one shot back, it's actually got a lot of potential. The only major downisde I can see is ... well, it's a lot harder to get Seal Attack 3. Still, even Seal 2 is usable in this context and that's basically free with this recent Catria handed out.

I do have a 5* Catria with a bad bane (-ATK I think it was? Maybe SPD) I can sacrifice to this if I want to. Though, I don't think that's on the Kagero account. Hm. Seal Res may be interesting since I do run pure magic damage basically and I'm swimming in Raigh.

I don't see it yet, but that is a very specific team setup, so it has to be mine. I wonder how long it takes for the defense to register. It wasn't on the top of the hour like usual for arena updates.

And yeah, it doesn't surprise me that the AI is super reckless with that. The idea with a Wings of Mercy Nino was that Lucina could charge ahead, get hurt, and then Nino would teleport in and blast her opponent. It was actually meant for my offense team, but it comes up so rarely that it's kind of just sitting there now. I kept it because I thought it might be a valuable lesson in checking the opponent's team for someone. It's at least off-kilter enough to make people notice. Nino runs Fury and Desperation, not Darting Blow and Wings of Mercy! Mine does.

But you're right, green magic is a bit of a weak spot for my team. Kagero is, too. I'm working on that.

well, today's 3 matches were piss easy. Almost no merged enemies, couple Takumis. I'm sure it's going to fuck me over at round 7 again.

I did see this weird ass thing, though. Good thing I checked before nuking it with Linde.

Sometimes, you'll see this kind of thing and it just feels like some players have so much of certain characters that they simply say to themselves, "Fuck it! Let's go all [insert type skill] and see how it goes..."

Wow someone sacrificed a Hector for that.

"A Hector." Probably one of many that he or she has. ¬¬

So I finished buying my Reinhardt's base skills, time to inherit some stuff onto him! 2 questions: Which special (since his base one kinda sucks). And will I regret just going with Death Blow 2, instead of waiting for the feathers to inherit Death Blow 3? (I'd probably prefer spending such a limited resource on someone I'd use at 5*, rather than food)

Definitely Moonbow. Kill an easy target to get it charged, and then you can enjoy the benefit of killing someone else you might not be able to oneshot otherwise.

And Death Blow 2 is fine, especially when we have the +Atk seal now which is perfect for brave weapon users. 3 can come later. Maybe there will be new units other than Klein with DB 3 at 4* added in the future, who knows. F2Ps or small-spenders who can't always get what they want should enjoy what they have whenever they have them.

In that case, wouldn't a 3 turn special be better? Moonbow procs on the first hit of the second encounter, while Luna procs on the second hit, same round.

Then what's wrong with my level 30 3* Est? She tickles everyone and gets one shot killed by everyone in return above level 30. I'm sending her home as soon as I get my orb.

i am having the same problem, i don't want to use est again after this lol

Get someone to redline the unit first, preferably someone with Pain or Poison Strike.

I just reset the Training Tower until it spawned red units. I had Palla supporting her with Goad Fliers.

It's not like Est needs to survive anyway. She only has to score the KO.

I did the same strategy with Catria, and she is also only level 27. Palla was already leveled, so I got her Quests done in two battles.

Cracked 4800! It's not going to get me any more feathers but that was my goal for this season.

No merged units. All 5*

Eirika
Bunnicina
Sharena
Effie

I love Bunnicina.

So many Julias in the arena recently, feels like she replaced Hector since the update. It's especially rough since I run Effie and Fae. Never came out unscathed when a Julia is present.

What do you guys think of Aether? I spent the 20k feather to promote Chrom and then pulled a duplicate 5* just now. All of his other skills don't seem like they're worth transferring (except Defiant Defense 3 to Seliph). Luna + Sol is great, but that 5 charge cooldown, man...

Guessing we're looking for a Brave Weapon user and/or someone with good speed? Camilla is my only Brave+ weapon holder, but Camilla + Aether seems like a weird fit for her.

Yep, seeing a lot of Julia + Blue Mage setups tonight. Usually Bunny Lucina or Robin joining her, sometimes a dancer too. Not particularly great, since they keep giving me that square pillars map with the water. That map is nightmare for zoning ranged units.

Might have to run both Nino and Tharja together just to avoid that specific setup.

Aether may work well with slow Killer weapon user alongside Quick Riposte, who can bait and charge it up in one go. Other 5 charge special could be more useful though.

Aether is bad, but the caveat here is that it also improves your score because it's a 500 SP skill

So if you feel you don't really need your specials in a match, run Aether for the points, otherwise stick with Sol or something else.

Just run Galeforce on everything.

Galeforce Roy!

What are good A and B skills for Shareena besides Fury since I don't have the fodder for that? Lancebreaker tempts me but I've only pulled one Arthur ever.

What's her role? If she's a tank, Lancebreaker is good on her because it gives her triangle + doubling advantage on two weapon types. You can also give her Renewal if you have access to it as it makes her tankier for longer with recycling health. The other option is a Seal X (not attack, it doesn't work well with her weapon, so speed or defense or resistance) skill.

For A-slot, you can just give her a stat boost if you can't think of anything or don't have access to Fury. Like +3 Speed, that she comes with, or something.

I can understand not being sold on seal attack. It all depends on how you are going to use them. If you know there are threats that your team can't 1-round, having someone who can go in, get some damage and drop their attack so no one will die that turn means a lot for arena. I only really started looking at Seal Attack when I was looking at how best to use the Firesweep Bow. To give an example, my +speed/-hp Rebecca with the Firesweep Bow+, Death Blow, Seal Attack and Hp + 3 will only die to Ogma on the enemy turn. To me, that is huge since it means she can take a pot-shot, then survive the next hit. It both weakens the enemy, and gives me time to move units around if need be.

Similarly, if you run a Brave Bow+ on the same set, Seal Attack lets you survive 12 more units than without it. (48/18/42 Vs 45/30/33). I'll concede that this set-up is best with the FireSweep Bow though, since you end up avoiding a lot of specials that would kill you thanks to how it blocking counters.

Actually, on Kagero, I've found she does pretty well with Seal Attack and Life and Death.

Kagero (+Attack/-Speed) - no buffs
Poison Dagger +
Life or Death 3
Seal Attack 3
HP + 3 seal

On Initiation: 73/1/34 (only loss is to Hector on counter)
Enemy Turn: 74/7/27

Without Seal Attack:
On Initiation: 73/1/34
Enemy Turn: 73/17/18

Seal Attack with Erika (+3 Attack, + 4 Speed)
On Initiation: 87/1/20
Enemy Turn: 87/2/19

Without Seal Attack, with Erika Buffs
On Initiation: 87/1/20
Enemy Turn: 87/9/12

Now for the magic -> Second attack turn
Seal Attack 3/No buffs: 94/7/7
Without Seal Attack 3/No buffs: 87/17/4
Seal Attack 3 / Erika buffs: 102/2/4 <- Effie and Hector kill on their attacks
Without Seal Attack 3/ Erika buffs: 97/9/2

As you can see, while in one round it isn't too big, it let Kagero basically 2 round everyone. Oddly, +Attack/-Speed is the best for this set-up, since losing anything on her defences or attack hurts a lot. Also, since you know Kagero will basically always get to round 2, you can take a 4 turn special and nuke some random unit with it. Or even take Galeforce, since if you know you will double, you can get an extra turn. Being able to tank hits opens up a lot of extra breathing room.

Am I being led to believe my +Atk/-Spd Kagero isn't terrible?

+atk is best nature for Kagero. I'm a little skeptical towards running Life&Death on her though, as it makes her too squishy to bait and kill some common threats, like blade tome users. I much prefer Fury 3.

Aside from the team I lost to above because I didn't check for Wings of Mercy.

I fought a cavalry team afterwards with Reinhardt, Olwen, Eldigan and Cecilia in it.

And then a flier team with Spring Camilla.

Thankfully I won the last two without losing any units.

It's hard trying to beat a Spring Camilla with 64 attack buffed which isn't counting the added damage from other buffed stats due to Gronnblade.

I have to think about how to deal with the changing meta.

I have to consider using tomes that deal extra damage to cavalry and fliers and to use archers.

This team would wreck my squad hard.
On a second look, that's a weird Cherche build.. two enemy phase skill with brave axe+

While it does look unusual, I sort of see what the rationale is. First of all, distant counter kinda makes sense. Cherche's low RES and SPD make her extremely vulnerable to mages but distant counter mitigates this to some extent, utilizing her hight atk and OHKO potential, just like Hector; it would have made even more sense if it is silver axe+ not brave axe+, but still. Anyway, I would personal go with Death Blow for the A slot (especially when brave axe+ is already chosen) but I can see Distant Counter being reasonable as well; Ninos and Lindes will hesitate when initiating on her.

For Vantage, it is often considered good for guys with 1-2 range counters so maybe that's why.

Brave users should not be in range during EP anyway. The meta mages will kill her before she can use Vantage or counter.
